Yup... I owned this one too... Pretty good Keyboard for that time... Classic XG sounds... This one actually was very fun to use... I know some of the styles from this Keyboard are still used on Newer Models... Thank You for Sharing Bro!
For an older keyboard, I would say that this one falls into a category of not really being a toy, and is far more useful as an actual quality instrument, and if I owned this machine, I would either attempt to take it apart to see if i could fix that display on my own, OR I would get into contact with Yamaha to see if there was any option to have it professionally repaired within reason while certainly out of warranty lol. I would imagine that a repair for something like this might be a little costly to ship it and pay for repairs, but if it could be done, I do believe that it would be well worth it. Yamaha makes many of the greatest music instruments in the world.
I think the 510 is my fave. Better stability than the 500 I have but still has that cool red led look. Interesting to hear the sounds on this and compare to the 500 for me. Some nice new sounds in there EDIT ok was not expecting those filters, nice EDiT2 that piano arp is lovely
These have the PC connector on the back so you can use serial midi. . It's also listed in XG works in the model setup. Probably something close to an MU-80 or MU-100 under the hood.
I borrowed this keyboard from a friend of mine. The 196th preset is super amazing and emotional. I have been writing a synthy song and the way the life in the low end added flavor in the song made me fell in love with it. Sadly the keyboard is too old and I can't record by DAW
I have this keyboard, but sadly, I've lost sound in 3 of the upper keys. ( 2black and 1white) ..it doesn't really affect the playability of the board bcos they are at the higher end of the scale.. but I'd still like to get them sorted. Can I get these keys repaired somewhere???
Yep, and it's usually a pretty easy fix. The hard part is finding people who fix electronics, as it's a very un-profitable industry to be in. I'd start by putting a request out on Facebook marketplace (if you are on that service)
I've got this thing. Any idea where I could buy a new volume potentiometer? I remember this keyboard would randomly do some interesting things if tampering with styles and effects long enough. Once it began playing Berlin school sequnces with variations while still reacting to harmonics control. I played this error for hours but never managed to trigger it again.
@@gearfacts I've now found it's potentiometer code WA994701, also substitute for VZ048400; WA994700; WA99470R. I just didn't realise I have to replace the metal part alone, instead of complete plate. In any case it's easily accesible. So if anyone has a problem with that potentiometer, they can buy it easily using one of the numbers.
great video as always❤️ just a question - between the roland ep 7, the yamaha psr E323, and the casio WK-200, which do u think is the best buy out of three I've found them on second hand on the market (all around the same price) im looking to learn how to play and hopefully upgrade later to piano
Sad story of my own: I just opened up a the box for psr-410 I just bought. Surprise, it's not a psr-410, it's the psr-530 ! In fact, basically in mint condition ... except they threw it in the original box with a stand ... and the stand (in the box without any bubble wrap) shattered the LCD display. Looking back at the auction listing, the display was mint also (working). Now it's like this one, except 20% of the top is working, but isn't useful. If anyone has a spare display, please reach out. What a pity. It does sound incredibly good. Very much like the 630 and 730.
Finally, a synth that I own. It's a great machine with an unusual cartridge expansion system.
Yeah I forgot to talk about the cartridge thing. Without the screen I guess it was pretty redundant though.

And amazing speakers... think I forgot to mention that.
@@gearfacts Good "Bass" response on Speakers...
I'm looking for one to buy

You make a good point, and I do actually have a contact at Yamaha. I'll look into it. Cheers!

So that's sound 196 right? I’ll commit that to memory and check it out next time I use the keyboard :-)

I have no idea sorry but that's an interesting and rare story of PSR phenomena

Glad you liked the video - I'd choose the WK200 out of that selection.
