    🔰A Dream Within a Dream
    by Edgar Allan Poe
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow -
You are not wrong, who deem
    That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
    I stand amid the roar
    Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand -
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
    While I weep - while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
    Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
    One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

A fun fact is that the street sign that appears at 0:22 is translated from Greek to English as "Love Street" and the street in real life leads to a dead end. Maybe it is coincidence or someone had a twisted sense of humor.

He just understood it was all about the personal perception of reality. Those who have the capacity understand that just with relationships and love stories. The dream (your hopes) within a dream (your own perception of reality not always shared by others). But yes, as you said, extremely woke for his time. I'm still impressed by the veracity of these great writters. All of them loners, ecluding themselves from the society because of that curse of vision. The 3rd eye...

Filming those small moments, that are as expressive as the poem, is a dream within a dream. maybe everything so beautiful and personal is a dream within a dream because it comes straight from the soul: intact and simple yet so elaborated and complex. And what is a dream without the dreamer?

    A TEAR IN THE SEA
    An English Quintain
    By PHILIP KENT CHURCH
    ~
When I think of all that’s real - my life seems so small,
Like dust trapped in Sunbeams - the years float, then flee.
So where am I in the deal - where’s destiny’s call?
When I think of my dreams - all that may, or never be,
All my life really seems - just like a tear in the sea.

These are strange days not new but sadder now. I listen to music on youtube great source of comfort. Your site found me Alone is my poem. Poe wrote it for all of us. I remember reading it
my God 55 yrs ago thinking he knows how I feel, who I am, now who we all are. I loved the music and it being read it was a Dream within a Dream. Life really is a circle I'm 69 now I listened to Sean Lennon sing Isolation hard to grasp he's 45 that was a mind FUK n blower.
Thank you, what a beautiful surprise words and music together gonna look up Wolfpack. Love to all you've made a new old lady happy .

This is a poem about how all is change and we will be forgotten. Heraclitus seems to have said it first. "The only constant is change." It could be we are all a dream in God's mind.

... I see the tormented shore as Poe's vision of Life, the surf (waves) as each Day and the golden sands as grains in an hourglass (Time) that flow down inexorably to the final grain ... a sad life indeed

Poe was incredible... he's predicted the matrix... a dream within a dream

Came across this beautiful and intriguing poem yesterday and have stumbled upon such an equally brilliant enunciation of it the very following day. Bliss it is.

The lines of this poem came back to me suddenly while falling asleep last night. I couldn't even remember where they'd come from even though I love Poe's works. They struck such a cord in me, in my mind that's been struggling and barely coping with what this year has brought. I don't know what this feeling is that it's brought, this poem, but I think it's a good thing that I remembered it now.
