Watching this, I realized how Entrapta went from being one of the most apathic characters in the show to being one of the most empathic characters. I mean, she went from someone who excitedly suggested dissecting Adora without realizing anything was wrong about that to giving an empowering speech about heart and soul to Hoard Prime and giving Hoardak the strength to break free from his chains! That's really amazing!
Yeah, she found someone who she connected with and that made all the difference.

Entrapta had the best character development in the entire series. Launch is an amazing episode (yes, I know that's a controversial thing to say) because it gave a very honest portrayal of Entrapta's autism and the pros and cons that come with it, so honest that it actually made people uncomfortable due to the ableism that the Princesses displayed. That was easily the most mature episode in Season 5 because unlike everything involving Catra and Adora after Corridors, it wasn't pandering to anybody. It was pointing out that autism can give people extraordinary intellect and talent in some areas but it can also be very difficult to live with for everybody involved. That's something that really needed to be said in order to portray more authentic autistic characters.
If not for Season 5, I would say that either Catra or Glimmer had the best development, despite Entrapta always being my favourite character. However, Season 5 either ruined or underused so many of the characters in order to prop up Catra that Entrapta ended up being the only one who had a fully fleshed out arc whilst also avoiding character assassination. The only bit of damage Catra did to her was that Entrapta forgave her very easily but that's not out of character. Glimmer and Adora were ruined in Season 5 because the writers were so desperate to shove in Catradora that they completely ignored the fact that Catra killed Angella, a crime that Glimmer never confronted Catra about and seemed completely okay with despite her arc in Season 4 being partially driven by grief for the loss of her mother, and outright reversed Adora's character arc about escaping from toxic relationships, completely destroying all the growth she went through in the first 4 seasons. Other characters suffered from Catra's toxic influence too but that was mostly restricted to a lack of screen time rather than having their characters destroyed like Glimmer and Adora.
@@tomnorton4277 I actually really enjoyed that episode, too. I myself am autistic, so it really made me feel empowered and seen to have issues I struggle with shown. I'm not very good with people, suck at sports, and have some learning disabilities. However, I have always had great art skills, a connection with animals, and love learning about history and mythology. My talents might not apply to all forms of life, but those I do have can be pretty impressive and make others happy when I'm able to display them.

Corridors is great too and despite my hatred for Catra (I didn't always hate her but I do now because I've realised that she almost single handedly ruined Season 5), I'm not ashamed to say that I was sobbing each time I watched the scene where she saved Glimmer whilst fighting the clones and screaming an apology to Adora. However, despite that heartbreaking scene, Catra should not have gotten a happy ending. She should have died on Horde Prime's ship, either at the end of Corridors or when Prime electrocuted her in Save the Cat. After saving Glimmer, Catra was no longer needed for the story - if they still insisted on using the power of lesbian love with the Heart of Etheria, they could easily replace her with Glimmer - and her presence severely damaged the rest of the season. There were still some fantastic scenes but the writing quality just didn't hold up because the story was bending over backwards for Catra.

The more I see Entrapta stuff and how the characters interact with her the more I realize....
Everyone is/was kinda ableist. I mean they weren’t very ableist, but a lot were just rude to her on how she works. The ONLY person that didn’t treat her that way was Hordak who just treated her like everyone else, and once he got warm up with her, he treated her with respect more than he ever treated Shadow Weaver! I’ll also count Scorpia too but her and Entrapta interaction was not as big as Entrapta and Hordak.
I’m just happy the Entrapta found someone who understand her at the end when no one else does, and I hope to see that relationship grow more.
Very true. I know that the good guys have flaws (and I find that great), but they were overflawed around Entrapta, to not say hypocritcal (c'mon, they get annoyed at her passion for techs, but they saved her for this specific reason). I even made a video pointing the differences between the treatment she receives from Hordak and the Alliance.

As someone whose also called a robot frequently, I resonate with Entrapta. I miss social cues sometimes too but many of them are just arbitrary bullcrap that don't serve much purpose anyway (at least to me) so Entrapta comes off as really honest and genuine, while everyone else is playing dumb mind games with each other and succumbing to petty squabbles.
That's one of the problems with being on the autism spectrum. We're focussed on the most straightforward and logical way of getting where we want to go while everybody else is dancing around and walking on eggshells instead of getting to the point. It's especially a problem in our hyper-sensitive era because if you DO get straight to the point, you're in danger of needing to fight off the sharks who are out for the blood of anybody who doesn't fit in. Being autistic is a blessing in some ways and a curse in others.

I'm probably another person replying the same thing but...she literally was an anchor for me. I am autistic an when I watched this I didn't know she was too, I simply saw her and was immediatly in love with her and later with Hordak. I can relate to both and I crave what they have...they accept, support and value one another, for their worth. They can connect because both of them knew lonely. He felt a failure due to his physical disabilities, she because of hers (autism is a disability and hinders some aspects of your life) but at the same time she teaches him their traits make them strong and beautiful. I really wish we could all find somebody who understands us in a deep and caring way.

Same. I couldn't find any cartoons that featured autistic females... Then I was trying to get away from the backlash over PPG 2016, because it was hurting me for some reason. I saw this show on CBBC and was instantly in love. Soon I learned that Entrapta was autistic.

My theory is that she lived in a little village near Dryl as a baby, and her biological parents were killed by the horde, and Entrapta was raised by the robot rulers of Dryl

I mean everyone has their headcanons. I think there is validity in thinking that, but there is nothing explicitly in the show. She has been related to being neurodivergent so it could be she sees relationships differently. But I say go have fun with how you see her. 😊

Entrapta is my favorite character, and I must say that in my opinion she suffered a lot, they abandon her (we know that it was not her intention, but they hurt her), then she befriends Hordak and Catra sends her to the beast island, there she shows us what It hurts what they do to her (even if she doesn't always show it, and how positive it is) then they almost killed her, I think she deserves a lot 😞❤
The princesses could have at least tried to get her body back later, or make sure she was gone. Adora was the one who cared most (and Glimmer, out of guilt). And, after the way she was treated by them during the operation (particularly by Perfuma with her vines and saying in front of Entrapta how difficult it was working with her), it's not a surprise she believed so fast she had been abandoned. Seriously, when Catra joined the Alliance she didn't put up with half of what Entrapta went through.
It's not what happened to her in the show that bothers me it's what my classmates say about her

I'm not big on this song and singer at all, but the lyrics and song title? Combined with this character? Holy shit, this AMV hit me personally.
All the characters on SheRa are very endearing, but one of the moments that hit me hardest is when Entrapta broke down on Beast Island. For the entire ep she'd been her "normal self" just compulsively obsessed with tech as always, but this was after 6 months of surviving in a deathzone with no company, having been trapped there by her so-called friends. When the thorns reach her, her insecurities finally start to leak out after all that time of being hidden behind her welding mask and enthusiastic smile. She's still smiling as she says that she's given up on having friends and wants to die there!
Even when she does return, because of her aloof nature and lack of consideration for others, people in turn treat Entrapta like a little kid that needs to be babysat and don't want much to do with her. However, it does get to her. After what Bow said on the island, and after the princesses expressed their frustration in season 5, she did try harder to help other people. She kind of sort of saves the universe with her not her brain. She gives a decent Fuck You speech to Prime too.
I dunno, I'm not nearly as socially awkward as Entrapta, but I am autistic, and I get treated like a wall sometimes because my own aloofness. People keep "testing" me, when they're mad at me, to see if I feel stuff. I also forget to message my friends and keep on top of my existing relationships before getting distracted by some other interest. It was interesting to see that here. It's been done before many times, but rarely this specifically with a character like Entrapta, since most "nerds" are also very articulate, cautious, and well-spoken. They don't have Entrapta's inability to communicate or lack of self awareness, certainly not combined with those insecurities.
Entrapta does kind of fall into the "autism superpower" trope, but her social shortcomings are a lot more realistic than in most depictions, especially to people on middle of the spectrum that find it harder to communicate or be charismatic. She's got a great voice actor who can portray her relatively unstable mannerisms perfectly.

I think Entrapta is my favorite character because she reminds me a lot of myself except instead of tech it’s my humor, being funny is all I’ve ever had. When I was younger nobody liked me so I thought I could make friends with my sense humor and I feel like people forget sometimes that I still feel emotions I’m not all humor and a lot of people are total jerks to me because they think I won’t care, they think I won’t be sad and it really hurts cause all I’ve ever wanted is to just have someone laugh at my jokes, and find me funny. And it really hurts when I have to remind someone I’m not all just skin and bones.

It's usually always the white males that get potrayed as autistic and they're displayed with a lot of the untrue myths about the spectrum but Entrapta is just... More alive and actually feels like she's on the spectrum I guess?

Entrapta's far better because she wasn't used to treat autism as a joke. Launch is one of my favourite episodes in the series - it's the last one I consider to be fully canon, apart from the moment at the end when Glimmer uncharacteristically asked Catra, who as good as killed her mother, to stay with her - because it was so honest about what it's like to live with autism. It not only showed how it affected Entrapta but also the people around her.

Entrapta carried the entire show. Even during her absence in Season 4, she was so important to Hordak, Scorpia and even (though she was too sociopathic to admit it) Catra that she indirectly drove the plot forwards, despite not appearing in person until Beast Island.
Recently, I've been getting a bit worried that this show is being forgotten. Entrapta's probably the best portrayal of an autistic character in recent memory but She Ra and the Princesses of Power seems to be falling into obscurity.

I kinda relate to entrapta I make friends but they either get annoyed or just ignore me she can fix those but I can't even figure out how to fix myself for those people. I can act ok, but entrapta can be herself about this kind of stuff and understand how to fix it, I have to act like I understand and shut up about being myself and act the way others want me to so I dont annoy them. I made a friend with my level of weirdness and I already feel like I'm to much for her so I'm trying to fix that to not lose her cause I kinda fell in love with her personality and how she can be herself and not get told to be different and I think im to deep in love with her cause I got jealous when someone asked her to go to a dance with them and I kinda walked off tearing up acting like Im ok and when she caught up to me she said she didn't agree to go with the other girl just yet it's a maybe and just hugged her and I wanted to say just go with her she's probably so much prettier than me but I couldn't do after we split up and I got to class I felt kinda depressed and people were trying to get me to do certain things in the class that I honestly couldn't care about at the time.

Lemme tell you something: nothing matters. Your experiences mean just as much as anyone else's, so stop de-valuing yourself. You are important and do infact matter, and at pure mimumum as much as they/other people do.
The gift of nihilism is freedom and that what matters to you is valuable. It doesn't matter if other people don't find what you find valuable, valuable.
You don't need to be "fixed". That's actually the thing that's broken, the feeling as if you are.
You and the people around you are different types of plug/sockets (I'm using a metaphore). While you might be an HDMI plug/socket, the people around you might be and Aux cord or a light socket. And by the sounds of it, you've been doing most of the adapting. Make them adapt too. (just be careful)
Something I learned about neurotypicals is that they only respect you if you push, though it fomes with some other problems like "how pushy is enough/too much?", and also that some neurotypicals also are stubborn and won't budge/push back harder, and neurotypicals almost always do that if they don't see someone as part of their tribe.
Something surprising about some neurotypicals is that they will change their entire beliefs the second they realize it causes harm and/or exclusion to someone in their tribe. Take advantage of this.

Dude, this part of the series pissed me off so much(the other princesses, not Entrapta). This is a perfect example of the double empathy problem. They really thought she didn't care. Rather than trying to understand from beginning to end, they treated her like a dog being trained rather than a fully functioning person with emotions. I will say that Scorpia tried but still ended up doing the same, just healthier. + scorpia shows everyone affection like that. But the only person who spoke to her like an equal was hordak, so no wonder they were close. "No, Entrapta don't do ×" "Entrapta, we don't like x." One even leashed her up in frustration. She was never apathetic she was just focused on other things & unable to express herself in a way that "normal" people already understood. She always asks if someone is mad, calls herself a failure for other people pushing her away, and puts herself back into captivity purely for Catra & Scorpias comfort. She always went out of her way to understand & help the person in front of her. Plus, if anyone had the right to not give a hoot what they think it was her. They didn't so much as check if she survived. They definitely saw her as a robot. If they get a season 2 part of me hopes her & hordak go exploring several from the main group (but part of me doesn't cause Entrapta is my fave & I don't want to lose her as a character) because they just don't deserve her.

@@tipsy634 They are telling the story of my/their people. It is a sad story, and sadly we (autistic people) have a hard time in a world like this not made for us, and all the masking sadly can become a sort of trap for many of us, myself included. My guess is that they are undergoing the same.
Short answer is no, but we (I'm speaking for everyone here) will likely try to find a pocket that is habitable for us, unless we give up. I hope that they are ok too.

@@orbismworldbuilding8428 im an autistic woman. im 26 years old. thats not massively old but it's enough to have been masking, with no support, for quite a while.
the way i deal has always been by keeping masked interactions with people to a bare minimum.
i wonder how that makes others feel?
like, okay, let's use she ra as an example for 5 seconds, whenever entrapta's upset she physically covers up her feelings with her mask and the others therefore think she doesn't feel pain or care about them. she only lets them see positive energy and they get infuriated that she seems to be completely unfazed, while they're struggling to pull themselves together. so they end up taking it out on her. that counts for the princesses, catra, and to an extent even hordak. she seems untouchable compared to their turmoil, so they kick her down.
it's not until she's able to show them she's upset that they realise what theyve done and apologise.
(Adora faces similar problems - Adora puts on the mask of being the tough girl SheRa and people assume that shes strong when shes not, behaving more and more aggressively against her until she cracks or snaps. Catra spends all show trying to push Adora to care in the way she does, until Catra realises she was being an idiot, and becomes number 1 Adora's Feelings Matter stan.)

i do think that my tendency to avoid extended social interactions with people does cause issues.
at the same time when i get carried away and off guard, i tend to confuse people. especially because i'm so high energy and jumpy. so it's weird. it's hard to tell what people like and dislike in their interactions.

Like, when you mask you give people that impression of you, right? But then if you unmask they see it as an abnormality and they and you both have to re-adjust. So the longer you mask it also makes it harder for others around you to accept you unmasked that actually makes sense! There might be something else I'm missing, but that so far makes sense :)
Also yeah same, though I kinda think that that's a given. To quote a song I rather like: "Our differences will always lurk". Aka there is inherent difference and to an extent incompatibility.
Also yeah since I've been unmasking (sad that it can become a habit) I'm trying to only do it when actually nessecary. A lot of the people in my life now are neurodivergent and even if some of them still habitually mask and stuff, there's still that little thing deep down that recognizes and also makes them be more themself, since somewhere they realize that I'm just being myself.

I understand interpreting her relationship that way would make the lyric fit, but I never saw it that way. I saw it from a lack of understanding and communication from the other princesses mainly but both sides too although not from a lack of trying to show love, so it didn't make sense in my mind ergo I edited out.
