We lived near there before we moved to Tennessee a few years ago, and that was a super fun road! The Ortega Highway was fun, as was the ride up to Big Bear, but Palomar was super fun and very technical. It's a great place to refine trail braking skills, but ride too fast or you'll be dead. Here in Tennessee, I've found what I'd consider the best riding in the entire country. I've been in 49 states so far (except Alaska), and the riding here in northeastern Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Kentucky are simply fantastic!!
The Ortega Highway is considered the most dangerous road in So Cal. It has claimed many lives over the years. But, it is definitely a beautiful drive with biker bars at the top and close to the bottom.
@@DoorKnob890 - Excellent riding right there!! My offices were in San Diego, and riding out of there was awesome! Riding to Palomar was always a super fun ride!
I'm hitting the HOG Challenge for Salvation mountain in late July. I will take this on my way out there. First time I've heard of it so thank you for this info
Yay!! This is exactly our purpose in creating this platform. Make sure to leave a review for the road on our website after you ride it so other riders know which destinations are the best.
San Diego county has some of the best motorcycle roads in the entire country.... And the best weather.. this is just one of many grade roads.. East grade is called the fast side.. South grade the tight side...
I’d say that highland valley, and de luz , make palomar look like a happy meal. Too dangerous for a bicycle though. Palomar mountain is just one big smooth hill, these other roads have elevation changes similar to the Nurburgring, if you want a real challenge. Mount laguna has much more technical corners and for for sure will give you lift off oversteer on the longer curves if you are not careful. Palomar mountain is heavily patrolled by the CHP nowdays, the speed limit is like 30mph, overcrowded due to videos like these.
On a bagger, I like the east grade better. More open, sweeping turns. No first gear switchbacks. Save the south grade for something made for cornering.
Love it. Going to plan a ride there
I can smell the fresh air through the screen lol

@@firebirdlover4460 - Yup. Those sheer cliff walls are painted red with blood from riders who couldn't handle their bikes. Sad.
Holy cow! You can definitely tell the elevation change at the 1:29 mark! Not used to it going up and down like that! Looks fun! 😍
Its crazy to be above that cloud line. I could spend hours just gong up and down the hill.
OMG an observatory at the end of a curvy road?! Is this Heaven!??!
Right?!?!
I can honestly say, that was my first time in an observatory. I've been missing out!
Come to San Diego doodle, I’ll take you to Palomar and check out route 94 to campo.

Now on my bucket list!
It is a must. Next time you come into San Diego let me know.
Such a great video!!
Thanks brother!
From SoCal. myself but "How did I miss this ride" need to get here and run it...thanks for the VID.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It is one of my absolute favorites. I could spend all day there. Ride safe and thanks for watching.
Fantastic ride! There may or may not be one of my stickers in the phone booth next to the general store😂. Definite must ride!

@@MotorcycleDestinations I’ll be sure to do that 🤙🏼
You will absolutely love it. If you can, designate some extra time on the mountain so you can go up and down a few times. Ride safe.
@@FullThrottleHOG Thanks for the heads up. We'll have some spare time so that's good to know. Looking forward to that day on the trip even more now
Right on!
Damn that looks fun, captured perfectly!!
Next time you all are in town, we will have to take a trip up there.

15mph corners = FUN 😂
Yup, they are no joke! So much fun to jam up and down the hill over and over again.
I've been dragging knee on this road before you were born son.
Yea, I don’t ride those roads Friday thru Sunday because of the weekend crazies that can’t drive but think they can. 😎😎
The pros go on weekday nights.

Good insight! Thanks for sharing.
Like a Prius. No joke.
