Jennifer, I'm so grateful you have these videos and tutorials of the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens...and I'm happy I found these videos. I have been looking at the Copic markers for months and trying to get the nerve to purchase a few but was never able to make my first purchase. I couldn't figure it out, until I saw this video. What I realized was that I actually wanted was a marker/pen with the brush tip. So now that I've been introduced to these...through your videos. I am excited about purchasing and sooooo happy I waited. I know these don't compare to the Copics but these are more of what I was looking for. I'm so excited and can't wait to get the 60 pack....yes...I'm going for the 80 collection! Thanks again!!

Jennifer, This is why I love what you do: you are so great about providing lots of alternatives to get a certain look, and you are so reassuring like "you don't need all the colors of these markers!". You have SAVED me so much money by giving me lots of uses for products I already own and for not making me panic when I don't have THE right supply on hand :o)

These pens remind me of a set I got as a gift 35 years ago. It is great to see inks blend so well, without causing streaks.

Of course I had to have these Jennifer, because I knew they would help me become a somewhat better watercolorists. LOL! My DH gave a 36 pack set of these to me as part of my Mother's Day gift. I have play around with them and really like how they blend and work wet water. Thanks for the tip on putting the color of the pen on the top of the pen.

Great videos! I loved how easily you achieved the rich colors on each card by using these Zig products! I don't do much coloring now since I don't have the supplies for this kind of thing; I'm just barely getting enough supplies to stamp. But this looks like a great technique to try! Thanks, Jennifer, for the educational video! :)

I'm so excited. My Daughter just got me a 24 set for Christmas. I've seen this video before I ever thought I'd be fortunate enough to get my own but I had to re-visit your videos because I really think your tips are awesome and I'm going to be incorporating them when my markers arrive. Unfortunately I've got to wait until January (really don't know why it's going to take so long and I'm so anxious about them by the time they get here I'll have no hair left) But long story short, Thank you for your videos!

Water based ink is the ticket..I have learned with alcohol brush pens the paper is the key to spreading the paint for blending ..while water based ink also does well with the right paper...Mixed media paper works well .Its smooth surface .

Had to look these up right away :) Haven't even seen the whole video, but your recommendation was incentive enough. I did find the 60 color set on Amazon for $65, free shipping, coming from the Japan outlet, so it will take a bit longer to arrive, but a great price break over going through the middle men that resell the sets here in the US. I've ordered from Japanese and European companies before and always had great success through Amazon.

Pam Nutting I also saw a set of 60 on Amazon for about $65 (Kuretake ZIG clean color 60 color set TC-6600/60V --Japan import), BUT they showed the double-tipped markers NOT Clean Color REAL brushes. And the Jennifer's link/Amazon is $115.

Pam Nutting LIke Mary Ann Evans, I looked again and it says they are Clean color, but they are the bullet tipped double markers...so that wasn't obvious until I looked at all of the pictures. I'm going to notify them that they have the wrong title on this item.

Jennifer, how do these compare to the Spectrum Aquas, which I just bought and love? By the way, I'm not giving on my dream of owning every Copic color. I hope to buy a nice selection this summer. But I am curious as to how these compare to the Aquas which you can do the same techniques as these pens.

    • @jennifermcguireink
      @jennifermcguireink  9 лет назад +1

Debbie Elholm i don't think there is a need to own all the copics - so many are VERY close in color. these are very different than the aquas. they have a brush tip and blend without water. the aquas are nice, too.

Hi, Jennifer. I just found these Zig water-based pens that I bought about 10 years ago in my super budget restricted art supplies that I never got to use. I don't know where I got them, and the only English on the package says made in Japan, which I am glad to hear, because the quality of their brushes is supposed to be very good. Unlike on Amazon, every single pen is shrink wrapped, and the one I unwrapped to see if they were any good, was very moist. What a surprise! I am looking forward to finding out how to use them and appreciate you letting us know that watercolor paper is best for them. Is there any particular brand or weight of paper that you advise, or is all watercolor paper 140 lbs? I would like to know if there are any coloring books with the right paper for the 36 set of these water-based markers (pens?) If so, are there any that you would recommend for a beginning color book coloring enthusiast? I like realistic looking animals, under water ocean pictures with pretty fish and other critters, beautiful, fancy birds and flowers. I have only tried colored pencils before now, so I would love to see any tutorials you have made on how to use these pens. I have just subscribed to your videos and gave you an appreciative thumbs up. Thank you for telling us about this product!

Hi Jennifer, Thought I'd ask you as you may know the answer given all your research.. Are the ones on Amazon supposed to come individually wrapped too? I posted the question to some of the buyers and so far all the responses have been 'No' they were not individually wrapped. Do you have any idea why this would be? Is it because they are so discounted?

Jennifer is so right, they really are apples and oranges. I haven't had much luck with Distress Markers although I normally love Ranger products. I find these to be so juicy, vibrant and easy to use. The brush tip in these is an actual brush, very different than the "brush nib" on the Distress Markers. Maybe get one of these and try it and then decide which you like better before investing in one or the the other?

+Jennifer McGuire Ink I have had my pens for less than a year, have only used them a few times and now I see they are drying out. Not sure what to do?

I just received my pens. I'm trying to find information on the best way to store them...meaning horizontal, or ink side down...do you know?

Hi Jennifer....i REALLY need some help. I have ordered these TWICE from Amazon and with BOTH boxes the markers are not real "juicy".....i sent back the first box......but before i send this second one back i wanted to ask.......are they supposed to be NOT as juicy as markers tend to be?? I have the 60 set, by the way. Also, the pens were NOT individually wrapped......are they supposed to be? I REALLY like these....the ones that do work are great but 90 bucks is alot to spend. Both boxes were marked "new" but I just dont know. Do you have any thoughts that might help?

Hi Michelle, like you, I ordered a pack from Amazon, the 48 pack and I'm finding the same. Watching Jennifer's techniques the pens look very watery but mine aren't. Also, like yours, they were not individually wrapped. I'd love to know if there is anyone else out there who can answer this. It's real disappointing as I'm trying to create the cards Jennifer has made and it's just not working. Also, I'm not using water colour paper but Card!

I have the 36 pack of these, they aren't individually wrapped, and are pretty juicy except some of the greens.

Hi Louise ~ I didn't order mine from Amazon and when I received the 48 pack they were all individually wrapped as well as pretty darn juicy. I ordered mine from another online store (Blitsy.com) so I just assumed that they would all be individually wrapped. I know that when I got a free sample in an order from a stamp company, that marker was also individually wrapped. Hope this has helped and sorry you're having so much trouble.

I have had the 12 set for 3-4 years and they are still going strong. Now I don't create huge washes with them, but they are still juicy and vibrant so I think they will last a good long time before you need to replace them. Hope this helps!

    Hey there :)
After i watched your videos about the zig clean colour real brush pens i decided to buy them too. One of the reason is that i'm kinda a artist (instagram: misses.purpleberry) and i wanted to try out something else..but i got them and realized that they don't blend when i'm doing it...i tried out different papers & techniques - like on print-paper, in my hard cover sketchbook and on (extra bought) 250g drawing 'karton' (i don't know what it's calling in english) but nothing helped...
do you have any ideas what could be the reason they don't blend? :(

    are these like copics

No, in my opinion the two are quite different in my opinion aside from both being markers.
Copics are alcohol based, while Zig are water based, which makes blending different. The Zig markers are more comparable to watercolors as you can use water to blend them, and work better when used on watercolor paper, while Copics work better on smooth papers like cardstock. The two also have different tips, with Copic being felt tipped and Zig markers have bristle tips, much like paint brushes.
