Drake appealed to the youth who listen to things on a surface level. Even his fans who are older are that type. Superficial people. So they're not used to listening to any deep music. If they do, they don't fully get it and dismiss it as boring, dumb, nothing to say, etc. Which is funny as I argue most mainstream rap has nothing to say, is boring and just plain useless. Repeating the same things said in every song on the radio.
So yeah, it genuinely takes a somewhat smarter person, who reads into things, reads between the lines, understands researching things. Someone who themselves aren't shallow and superficial but deep.
