Insane precision in stopping minecart, relentless pressure, quick destruction of blocks, edgeguarding through Steve's mix-ups. Fantastic counterplay by Sparg0, I'm amazed to see the best Steve in the world looking completely clueless. Acola really had no idea what to do, that was a masterclass.

The Cloud back air to counter the startup of mine cart is awesome. I’m surprised Acola didn’t find an answer to it. Congrats to both of them for making top 8.
It is hard to find an answer to it. The move is -3 on shield and has a large hitbox. Only gw can punish it with a frame perfect up-b (as long as cloud spaced incorrectly).
Its the best back air in the game for a reason. And acola kept rolling in doesnt help either

Sparg0’s Cloud is my absolute favourite of all his characters to watch. I’m glad he’s still representing him at top level.
Seeing him completely dissect Acola shows how much he's grown. Definitely making the spot of 2nd pretty damn contentious.

Yeah, I feel like one of the take aways from this set was that the meta just needed some time to adapt to Steve. Though we'll see if that holds true. I've also heard some concern about Steve being a top level gate keeper

This is a fun rivalry to watch. I think Sparg0 is 2-1 up against Acola now in lifetime sets, with this set putting Sparg0 ahead for the first time.

@@splaturials9156 hes #1 in Japan right now with his consistency. He started out with a strong showing early in the US at the Gimvitational where he looked absolutely unstoppable. but people started to figure Steve out in general, so the decline of the Steve players is clear to see
Acola's use of blocks aren't optimize, and still not using Steve's Tech, which is the reason Acola's gonna lose. Also, it feels like Acola change his play style on using blocks so much, compared to few years ago. Hope Acola fix his play style.

そもそも足遅い上にジャンプ低いスティーブのライン回復する手段がトロッコと内回避通すしかないんよな
なのにこれだけトロッコにリスク付けられたら内回避擦らざるをえなくなるのはよく分かる

トロッコで帰る時も早めに降りて崖目指すのか、乗ったままなのか、上に逃げるのかとか色々工夫してたけどその場凌ぎにしかなんなかったね
クラウドの空後押し付けられたらジャンプでライン回復出来ないスティーブは回避するしかないんやろなぁ
ガーキャン掴みもないようなもんだし、あとはDA通すしかライン回復出来なさそう

i’m not sure what got into acola this game. i was just watching him, saying “roll” aloud predicting his rolls out of shield and even me, a random jim at home was able to do that almost perfectly. he was panicking hard. he was not playing like a top 5 player this set

It's a b reverse you press neutral b then press the opposite direction right after to turn the neutral b around

@@clifton8566 nope it works with most neutral bs for example you can b reverse with donkey Kong neutral b aswell
@@hionajoseph4611 To add to this, b-reversing is the one that reverses any and all horizontal momentum from one direction to the other. There is also turnaround-b, where you flick the left stick quickly in the opposite direction before pressing B.
ssbwiki explains it best.....
"A turnaround-B will cause the character to change the direction they are facing right before starting the special move. While B-reversing requires a direction to be input right after a special move, a turnaround-B is done by tapping the direction away from where the character is facing before the special move. In the case where the player wished to do a turnaround neutral special, they must be sure to let the control stick reset to a neutral position before pressing B (or any button mapped to specials)."

Yep. I've played Steve since he came out and I fought numerous Steves on the Stevecord (Haven't in a while though) and actually learned about his techniques. I'm no expert or anything but I'd say the Smash community is a little behind on the curve.
