If you choose to want to play, you can likely find someone willing to teach you over tabletop sim, if you have that. I think Bandai is working on an online client like arena and master duel, so the TTS version will shut down then, but until then, it's an option if you start showing more interest
Thanks for giving this game more scope, Professor. I really think it's a really fun and easy TCG to start playing, so I'm excited for more people to join the growing Digimon community.
I'm loving the Digimon TCG. Started playing a few months ago and my main deck is red Jesmon. I will say this for new players: keep track of triggers when attacking, playing, digivolving, and deletion. There can be cases where multiple triggers happen at the same time and you can choose the order they happen.
This is an awesome introduction to deck building in Digimon! Great coverage on the traditional ratios and the utility cards! And for those jumping into deckbuilding, don’t underestimate those Memory Tamers! Having memory to work with on subsequent turns is pretty key to making the deck run smoothly!
Thanks to your Digimon videos I bought two starter decks and tried them out with some friends and family. It really is a solid TCG. Thanks again to Bandai for making this happen.
I started playing recently because on commander night at my LGS is also digimon night but only one guy comes to play. So I asked him of I bought a starter deck if he would teach me. He said yes and told my that the gallantmon deck is the best starter deck and sure enough here I am going back to play again with some tweaks to the deck. This is a great card game.
I had a few cards as a kid but never knew how to play. I loved the show way more than pokemon but I was definitely in the minority. Someone from work and I were talking about it and may try to play in our down time... so I as an adult with money now want to build a deck around wormmon and stingmon since they were always my favorite... so this gave me some good ideas for which cards to look for to start to build that deck... I need some more trainer cards as I only really have one right now. And now I know how the different colors and what work together and a better understanding of what they mean. So this was great.
Loving the Digimon Content! Might not get as many views, but hopefully it will inspire higher-quality content from other Digimon creators here on RUclips
I see the Prof covering different card games, i smile. I would love to see a video on Vtes, or if you can get your hands on it, a Chilean tcg called Humankind, it has a really good lore and interesting artstyle (It was made by the same ppl that did Myths and Legends)

The best one atm is buy 2 imperialdramon decks and put a max of 4 wormon and veemon lines in and buy singles if imperial dramon fm to max its damage potential 👍
I got into Digimon about a month ago, and it's been scratching that Pokemon TCG itch I've been meaning to scratch. Pokemon TCG though is mainly played by kids, at least in my LGS's, so there's no real scene - plus nowadays it's more of a collector's game than an actual, well, game. It's a ton of fun! Question though, is there a reason you WOULDN'T want 5 eggs? I know the rule is optional, but I'm wondering if there's any real benefit to NOT having a full egg deck.
You may want to keep just 4 of the same egg for consistency. Other times you would only have one of a certain color, just to use as on option card enabler. Sometimes non at all if you are going full hybrid.
A lot of deck have only 1 egg that is optimal for their deck and the game needs to go for at least 9 turns usually before you use your 5th. Making some of your early turns worse for a chance you may have a better turn 9+ is not worth it usually.
Fortunately, Pokemon has a great digital client, so you can skirt around the whole "bullying children" aspect. RUclips recommendations sucked me in, and if you can get past the initial grind (there's a dedicated section for playing with JUST starter decks, so balance isn't an issue, it's just that, theme decks being what they are, you can/will brick, A LOT), the f2p option is totally viable, and likely to get better when they migrate to the new client later this year. Digimon looks neat, but I take serious issue with the number of mechanically unique exclusive promos present in the game, and how much the US is getting screwed regarding them. I know at launch every box had a box topper that contained 1 of 6 promos. In Japan that box topper contained ALL 6. And that's to say nothing about event exclusive promos that are 4-of staples. Forgive me for not wanting to pay $20-50 per card because I can't afford to burn a weekend on a road trip to a major city for a children's card game. (This is just an assumption. I know it's an issue the the DBS card game, and they're both made by Bandai, so I'd be shocked if it were not applicable).
some people who play security control would only run one digiegg as that would be the color options they would want to use. in the japan format for a bit, there is a special digiegg called mother from the EX2 tamers based set. some people were using it as an easy way to use the white option card mega digimon fusion, bypassing the need for a costly white tamer to play. but then mega digimon fusion was banned not too long ago for being too strong. still, the case still exists for having just one digiegg.
My aggro WarGreymon X list from the Japanese format only runs 4 eggs, all BT5 Koromon, since I want the card draw it grants and I don't expect the game to last long enough to hatch more than 4 eggs. I won a tournament with it and the lack of a 5th never came up.
Just bought two classic collection boxes and should be having my Next Adventure boxes arriving today! 🙌 so ready to see what I crack and what route to take when it comes to deck building. Thanks Prof!!
I have absolutely 0 interest in Digimon, yet I spent 10 minutes intently listening to you explain how to build a deck. That's how you know it's good content.
Thanks so much for this vid prof! My partner and I have been absolutely loving digimon since watching your first video. The memory mechanic is absolutely fantastic and digimon is a great break from playing commander and managing mana. Such a great game! Keep up with the great videos and hopefully more and more lgs's start hosting digmon nights like mtg and yugio :)
Hey people, once you grow up and live in the real world you have to have a job and make money. The Professor’s job and way he makes money is through his channel and videos. Sponsored videos are great because you don’t have to worry about ad revenue or the algorithm hiding your video from people. The professor also has a child. Things are expensive right now and are only getting more expensive. Please don’t make any stupid comments about him doing a sponsored video.
Agreed. It is also known that he likes the game legitimately. He has mentioned so in the past, well before Bandai reached out to him. To my knowledge, he doesn't take sponsors that he doesn't enjoy/trust. And that's especially true with card games
