Going to point out: The reason Koei Tecmo are 'one of the most overshadowed' is because they CONSTANTLY drop the ball. When they aren't over-monetizing, they are completely screwing the pooch with VERY shoddy ports, leaving too many of their franchises as region-exclusives, or not porting them to platforms where they would thrive. There is also the issue of them leaving franchises that have massive sales potential in present markets MIA. They've also recently had some problems with buying into the 'modern audiences' schtick and restricting/altering their games to follow the fail trend. DOA in particular got effected by this, I'll bring DOA up later, as it and Soul Calibur were the only fighting games I really got into back in the day. Tam Ninja seem to be the only one of their umbrella teams that actually has their crap together and bothers with trying to get good PC ports out, as well as trying to actually improve their games between sequels. They are closely followed by the team doing the Atelier franchise, although that does tend to be more stagnant. Koei Tecmo makes niche ames, yes, but hey don't do enough to keep those niche games reaching the audience. Mind you, I come from the perspective of having been a PC player since the latter half of the PS3/360 era. DOA as a good example: It got RUINED by the level of microtransactions it was flooded with, using DOA6 (DOA5 is NEARLY as bad)as an example: 2-4 dollar costumes for INDIVIDUAL costumes, some of the season passes being 90 bucks a whack, and generally just racked up over 1k dollars worth of DLC, with even buying as season passes and collections leaving you at 500 dollars plus in the hole. Yes, it's mostly cosmetics, but that doesn't change the disgusting monetization practices and the utterly abysmal support, especially with regards to PC versions. It wasn't helped by the story stuff completely losing it's footing. DOA wound up an example of most of Koei Tecmos problems sitting in one package, between 5 and 6. They also got shafted by EVO (and other major tournaments afterward) jumping on the social messaging train and not allowing it, which is basically a death blow to a fighting game franchise. That one, at least, was outside KT's control, although in the aftermath of it, they seem to have taken that to mean they should 'tone down' the series or generally pretend it doesn't exist. There's also concerns with DOA related stuff in particular due to Sony's current censorious approach.
That's pretty much it, this company is quite useless in managing their franchises, if they had played their cards right when it was the time they could have probably hoarded two huge markets with DOA and Ninja Gaiden as opposed to the niche place they currently hold, both DOA and Ninja Gaiden back in the day were on equal footing with giants such as Tekken and Devil May Cry and I'd even venture to say that what they were offering was much more polished and interesting, however, letting go of both series director, trying to put a 180° spin on the franchises that left them completely unrecognisable, losing their typical charm and character, their moody attitude towards PC, the microtransaction overload etc they just shot themselves on the foot as they have done many more times before and after, giving full way to the competition to steal the prize of the main market of 3d fighters and action/hack and slash respectively. They kind of remind me of Capcom during the PS3/360 era and the crap practices and poor decisions they were pulling out of their asses back then with RE5 and SF4 to name a few, it would be great if they followed their example given how much Capcom has changed, they could start by making more of their classics available on PC like DOA2 Ultimate, DOA3 and DOA4 wich would be an easy enough job and a sign of good faith, however, I do not expect much from a company that seems to be stuck in their ways since time immemorial.
@@leroidethunes3913yeah what they did to ninja gaiden was horrible first two were great then they butchered the 3rd game and decided the kill the series completely with yaiba
One franchise you missed was the Warship Gunner series. These were action games where you built up a fleet of ships but could only use one at a time (the other ships stay docked). Your ships initially used World War 2 technology but through research and item capture, you could end up with lasers, wave motion guns and other sci-fi tech.
...not to mention the Neo Romance / Angelique series, which is pretty much patient zero for the otome game genre. Without Angelique, you might not have had Hakuouki, Tokimemo Girls' Side, or even Asagao Academy.
And Warship Gunner is a spinoff of Warship Commander, featuring the same ship design system but with RTS style gameplay. The vehicle design system in these games was THE actual most in depth of its kind until Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts (too bad UA:D has so many issues)
22:45 Small mistake here. Omega Force is responsible for the action versions of Nobunaga's Ambition and ROTk, ie: Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors and other ARPG games. Nobunaga's Ambition and ROTK are developed by the Shibusawa Kou brand.
Have you done a video like this about either the Spike Chunsoft and Level-5 franchises? Because I think it would be interesting to see how some of their wackier franchises are faring.
12:18 I really like the Deception games. They're like Home Alone if it was set in a fantasy RPG world, with quite a bit of humor in some of the traps that you can set. There's not enough funny/slapstick RPGs out there. Hopefully the franchise isn't dead, and we get a Deception 5 someday. An N Sane Trilogy/Reignighted style remake/compilation of some of the earlier titles with updated graphics and more traps would be fine as well.
One thing I like about some of the more obscure recent KT series is they have pretty engaging stories and pretty good production values for being pretty low budget. Nights of Azure 2 for example has a really great story and vibe even if it plays like a slightly better compile hearts game. And the cutscenes add a lot. It sets it apart from other games in its bracket even if it’s nothing incredible. Or Blue Reflection 2 just feels leagues better with its characters and vibe compared to other Persona clones like Monark or Caligula Effect which just feel cheap. And of course fatal frame is just one of the greatest horror series of all time with excellent stories to boot. I feel like they are kind of underrated for these games as they really represent the good version of the B tier Japanese games. KT seems like a company known for its action but these games are very interesting.
It’s not surprising that KT is so overshadowed; KT is notoriously known for communicating as minimally as possible to anyone outside japan, even their own CMs in their official discord (because those are from the NA office)
I love Kessen! I prefer the first game's historical and realistic style and atmosphere. But I also love Kessen 3's more engaging and interactive gameplay. I liked Kessen 2 and its fantasy take on Romance of the three kingdoms. But Kessen 3's middle ground take on the Sengoku Jidai period and the departure from Kessen 1's style also rubbed me the wrong way at first. But the depth of leveling up your officers, and classes, abilities and equipment combined with units almost like an RPG was great. And it still kept enough of the DNA from the first game in its storytelling and cutscenes. Its a shame that there never was a Kessen 4. I would have loved a more grounded experience like the first game with gameplay elements from the 3rd game focusing on Toyotomi's consolidation of Japan after Nobunagas death (which should have been the last part of kessen 3 instead of the "what if Nobunaga lived" scenario). And the Imjin war and rivalry between Toyotomi and Tokugawa, leading up to Kessen 1. We got the spiritual successor Bladestorm. But it was even more rediculous and the anime style which Kessen slowly adopted and which worked in Kessen 3 just didn't lend itself very well to the medieval setting of the 100 years war.
I loved kessen 1 wish they did a remake on it kessen 2 was alright but kessen 3 tbh felt like a downgrade I don’t know what that game was trying to achieve
Kessen 3 had a very different tone and seemed to me like they tried to connect it more to the Samurai Warriors franchise (which I don't like very much). And I didn't like the over the top anime looks, and acting of many characters in kessen 3. But the game did grow on me due to its gameplay. It seems very "arcady" and action oriented at first. And it is action oriented. But has the most depth and agency of the three games. I love Kessen 1 for its cinematic storytelling, atmosphere and soundtrack. But those are really the things that carry it. The gameplay is very limited and is more of a tech demo for its time.
I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned Air Management '96, but that was actually the 3rd (and final) Aerobiz game, released only in Japan for the PS1. I love the 2nd game in the series, and always wished that Koei-Tecmo would bring it back to life.
Koei Tecmo has been doing well with the warriors spin offs the bast few years, I'm also interested in games like Nights of Azure, Blue Reflaction and Toukiden.
Nights of Azure & Blue Reflections definitely need some more attention from gust the same way they put so much attention towards the atelier series. Heck, imo blue reflection & Nights of Azure has some of the best soundtrack I’ve ever listened to from Gust.
I played Nights of Azure one and two, definitely niche as hell but the general story is dark between the two games. I got the bad ending on accident coz I had sold one of the important quest items that locked me out of an ending. 😂
Ninja Gaiden was originally a beat'em up arcade game that was extremely hard. Ryu had a punch combo and a leaping throw, that's about it. He can temporarily get a sword as a power-up but damn he was frail. If I remember correctly, he didn't have a health gauge instead he had a few health blocks that disappears when he gets knocked down.
I'm a big warriors fan. Made guides for steam versions of SW4 and 5. So happy to see PC versions, even with the problems. SW2 was the first game that made me cry and the first intro to the warring states. I spent days making weapon codes on the codemasters forum for the codebreaker/gameshark. It was slow, sluggish, and fun as hell. I'd love to see SW3 and SW4empires on the PC. Long shot, but maybe one day we'll get like a pack of SW1-3 on a collection release. Kessen and Toukiden was great too. I dunno about how fans in general felt, but I spent a lot of hours on Kessen. Replaying it over and over. That last battle was always cool at that big open area. And I remember thinking the armor costumes were so cool. Especially Masamune's.
Dead or alive is my most wanted game to make come back anytime sooon the better (although second surely would be ninja gaiden series) both deserve so high for me
You mean originally right? In the 90s I think. He mentions in the vid that Gust was a subsidiary of KT. That happened in the 2010/PS3 era I think. KT bought them, then I think some years later, they took them on as an internal division. Making Gust on the same level as Omega Force nowadays. KT develops and publishes games btw. Omega has always made Warriors titles.
Atelier is still developed by Gust, the only difference between pre-acquisition vs post-acquisition is the fact that Atelier is a mix between Gust and KT staff now
@@coleironworks Gust itself was merged with KT Kyoto I think. You can still say Gust is the developer. Gust, Omega Force, and Team Ninja are all arms of KT's game dev stuff. I was just saying they don't only publish.
@@birifumiMana Khemia is explicitly part of the Atelier series (they are games #9 and #10 of the 25 mainline ones). That's why it doesn't have a separate listing here.

Blue Reflection & Nights of azure need some more attention from Gust. I’m wanting more from those series then atelier, not saying that I don’t like atelier…but considering the latest atelier game is a F2P game that isn’t even available for PS/Switch…you’d think this would be a perfect time for gust to focus on either of those two non-atelier franchise..🤷
quick note that a month ago, the director of wo long masakazu hirayama said that there are no plans for a new ninja gaiden at the moment. i'd probably put the series into the life support category, tbh
Nioh 2 is mine as well and I've played a lot of the franchises on this list including the more niche ones. I think Rise of the Ronin is quickly becoming my second favorite. The reviews for it genuinely confuse me as I am roughly halfway through the game and don't understand how this isn't received well by reviewers.
@@joeyisabsb1 I know the feeling. I.E. SNK is one of the last big Japanese Video game publishers, we are talking at least 30 franchises under their belt, we have a lot more Japanese videogame publishers and developers, but they are either recent new or don't have a lot of franchises Yet
Thank you for this trip down memory lane. I remember playing some of the R3K games on the Super Nintendo, along with Aerobiz. I would really love to see some new entries in the Monster Rancher and Deception franchises, but trying to ask for anything from KT is like talking to a brick wall. Heck, if we're talking about dream game/franchise revivals, the Ar Tonelico/Ar Nosurge franchises both rest with KT and Gust, and i would be thrilled to see another entry in that world.
I learned Koei Tecmo because back when I got a PS 2 it had DW 2 with it. After that I was hooked. I played all DW and SW and Orochi and PW games and some of the expansions too...
I'd want to say you forgot Trapt in the Deception category. It's pretty much a retelling of the first game plot. Tecmo's Deception: Invitation to Darkness / Kokumeikan (1996) Kagero: Deception II / Kagero: Kokumeikan Shinsho (1998) Deception III: Dark Delusion / Somato (1999) Trapt / Kagero II: Dark Illusion (2005) Deception IV: Blood Ties / Kagero: Dark Side Princess (2014) *Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess / Kagero: Another Princess (2015)
Reminder that this list is for game series with more than one entry. That being said, one series that Koei made that wasn't on the list, that has 2 entries published, was Crimson Sea. TBF the first game was an Xbox exclusive while the second was a PS2 exclusive. And like a child from a broken home, it was thoroughly neglected by both fathers (Sony and Microsoft) until it was abandoned by the mother (Koei), firmly landing it in the "Dead or Finished" category.
Rygar is in nioh...kinda. there's an npc you can fight called reboot rygar. He even has dialogue when you beat him. Oh and you can play a ryu In nioh 2 as a collaboration for the ninja gaiden master collection
You'd think with all these games, they wouldn't fucking mess up Dynasty Warriors 9 and Empires. Truth to be told I never even heard of Koei Tecmo until Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires as well. It scratches that "1 vs. 1000" itch like no other game has, but now everything has to be quasi souls-like. Great. Just fantastic.
Nice, I bet the Microsoft video is going to be a three part, and IDK what's left you got Ubisoft, EA, 2K for outside of Japan video game publishers as for Japanese publisher you can do SNK, Level 5 and Nihon Falcom/NIS America are big enough companies to do a video
Keep in mind that Microsoft also has Activision and Bethesda. Grab your popcorn, grab your licorice, grab your root beer, grab your stromboli, it’s gonna be a long video.
My favorite part about Koei Tecmo is how they'll sell the exact same game over and over that hasn't improved mechanically since the PS2 and charge 60 bucks for it for forever. And give me my warship gunner 3!
Super swing golf was co-developed with Korean studio Ntreev, which is the developer of Pangya. Ntreev usually made online games, but they were bought by NC soft at 2015. NC soft is infamous in South Korea, like EA or Activision. So, IP itself belongs to NC soft, and of course, they shut down the Ntreev studio and made a mobile version of old games, which means the down-graded & hell of micro-transaction. So... Super swing golf is technically not a KoeiTechmo`s franchise. But who cares, it is dead, you are correct. I was not crying while writing this.
Thanks RUclips for recommending me this video. This is very well done and it's an interesting video, some series I didn't know until now are here. Being someone obsessed with Blue Reflection and with how much I love the characters, the graphics and the music, I can't help but wonder if we'll get more Blue Reflection content after Blue Reflection Sun.
I miss DOA. 3, 2U, and 4 were my favorite fighting games. I even like the first couple Volleyball games. But considering how KT sabotaged and ruined 6, a "reboot" is the last thing I wanted to hear about. I don't want a reboot. I want them to stop acting ashamed of the series and remember what makes DOA DOA, and embrace it. KT wants DOA to be Tekken or Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, but none of those games are trying to be watered-down versions of other games. DOA had millions of fans, and KT just abandoned them. They need to stop trying to be something else and be DOA.
I think it would have been fair to put Dynasty Tactics into Zombie at least. Godseekers that came out in 2016 is for all intents and purposes a Dynasty Tactics spinoff.
Thanks for the vid... I am one of those who is still mad about the lack of a Toukiden 3. Heck, I'm still mad about all the untranslated banter from 1 and 2! 🤣
damn, watching this video really made me miss dynasty warrior games. dynasty warriors 9 was the biggest let down for me in the histroy of gaming and i really wish we get the good ol style of map based warrioirs instead of open world
Hm, what is the point of declaring rules and promtly deciding not to follow them? Oh well. At least I see somebody who probably played more Koei game than myself, it's pretty rare. Maybe I should try all that horse games just for bragging rights. Dynasty Warriors Tactics techically ended with Dynasty Warriors Godseekers. It's not a part of the serries officially, but it is the same for it as a Bladestorm is for Kessen. Intended successor that flopped way too hard to continue. Nobunaga Ambitions and it's spinnoff series Romance of the Three Kingdoms (okay, they both influencing enough to be counted as separate) also have other spinoffs, Genghis Han, Bandit Kings of Ancient China (Suikoden but not the one everyone loves) and L'Empereur. About Attack on Titan. I remember devs once talked how The Final Battle dlc for Attack on Titan 2 going to be last time they are working on the frachise. And honestly, this DLC make the game much much better and different than Attack on Titan 2. Edit: By the way, you forgot about Captain Tsubasa, which originally was Tecmo series.
Blue Reflection Sun just announced EOS for May 29 reminder that this was the "last piece" to come out as part of that Blue Reflection super project back in 2021 sooo what's in store for this series now?...
That’s unfortunate, but it’s not a surprise. I really like the whole premise of Blue Reflections gameplay and narrative, the soundtrack for both console titles are unique that I always come back to listen to from time to time. I hope gust doesn’t end the Blue Reflection IP like Nights of Azure where there won’t be any new entry in sight. Both NoA & BR besides atelier have quickly become one of my favorites amongst Gust’s library as of recently.
tbh i would consider Nioh flagship at this point but with the caveat that Wo Long and Rise of the Ronin are the next entries in the series like how Bloodborne and Elden Ring are seen as part of the Souls Series. With Nioh 2 they "finished" the Sengoku Period, so a Nioh 3 wouldn't make sense. A Wo Long 2 would probably make sense since Wo Long ends at Guandu so there's still a large portion of Three Kingdoms uncovered, but it seems like they are developing different titles of the same overall series for different time periods, probably in part to avoid a people thinking they have to play Nioh 1-4 when Nioh 5 comes out type of situation.
The thought occurred to me. How many devs wish their most popular product was something else they made instead of what actually put them on the map irl? Cuz I know there’s some devs who are probably slapping themselves in the face seeing as fan made “spiritual successors” expanded upon something else than what they expected us to fall in love with
The games that are not franchises but are owned by Koei Tecmo I know about are Berserk, Arslan and Opoona. Warriors All Stars is more of a spinoff to Orochi which I think takes place in between 3 and 4. Otherwise this video just about covers it. Good work.
Nioh basically killed Ninja Gaiden (for now at least). Then Wo Long and Ronin killed Nioh. The best wat to see all of four as kind of the same category as "Team Ninja super difficult action game" as they appeal to the same audience and are made by the same studio.
I really really hope they can do another Kessen game as that series was so unique. I love the squad tactical combat with different unit types, kinda like Fire Emblem but real time. Blade Storm was an attempt to continue the series under another name but I don't think it did too good. The only thing comparable that I found was Kingdom Under Fire but that series was leaning a bit too much into action combat and ultimately disappeared as well.
Atelier series is my favorite of the entire Koei franchise. With Dynasty Warriors Gundam (R.I.P) second. I first played Atelier with Rorona on PS3 but i didn't fall in love with the series till Ayesha. Sad to see theres no mainline game for 2024, instead they choose to followup Ryza 3 with some cashgrab online game.
I wonder if now is the appropriate time for Koei Tecmo to tackle an Atelier Warriors entry. Given they've amassed quite the source material for it by now, and their Ryza trilogy really put(and is still putting) a lot of eyes not just on the Atelier franchise. But Koei Tecmo overall! Given I keep noticing a lot of their modern titles mentioned here are getting a lot of reprint support as of late. Over their big Nioh & Ryza exposure boom.
i don't think that's possible, every Atelier mc would have the same moveset lmao. being a guest character like Sterk and Sophie in Warriors Orochi is enough for me
as a huge deception fan, it makes me sad they just never got that popular. I also can see a new one never coming out, the formula doesn't have many places to go
Mario Warriors!? Now that’s a crazy idea. Imagine wailing on an army of Goombas and Koopa Troopa as Mario and then unleashing a huge fireball that hits 100 enemies and sends them flying. It would be insane. The question is, would Nintendo go for it?
Saying the average gamer wouldn't know the studio behind the numerous hack-and-slash spinoffs of popular franchises is a highkey insult to intelligence.
That's actually a very reasonable observation, hell, there are people who still confuses Koei's Team Ninja for Microsoft's Ninja Theory, just becasue they got Ninja on their studio names. Like, I legit seen dudes say DmC was made by the people who made NInja Giaden, all because they don't know these are two different studios.
Rygar had some mild success with a NES version, changing the linear action into a more metroidvania style game. And while the PS2 game wasn't a big seller despite trying it's hand at a Devil May Cry style of gameplay, it was highly regarded as a better playing 3D Castlevania than what Konami was doing (but that's a whole nother discussion). It did prompt a port of said PS2 game to the Wii, with a redesigned protagonist (for some reason), and a new Wii remote waggle challenge mode. As for Fatal Frame, you talk about the re-releases as if that's a downer. Finally free of Nintendo's shackles, they re-released Maiden of Blackwater (a former Wii U exclusive) to more modern consoles. Now understand... the franchise was never a big seller, having never even broken 100k in sales for one of it's releases. Maiden of Blackwater sold over 300k copies in just a few months, far exceeding the teams expectations! This was enough to reward the fans with a remake of Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, a game that was co-created by Suda-51, but trapped on the Japanese Wii, and rumored to be the scariest game in the series (which i might agree with). It did respectable numbers, easily outselling it's original release (which up until then was the series best-seller). The series producer and director have indicated that they are thinking about a new game, and what they could do with it. But considering that the series is actually selling better than ever, and Survival Horror is making a comeback... I think this franchise earns it's place as #3 best Japanese horror series behind RE and SH. I urge everyone to check out the games if you're interested in slow burn Japanese ghost stories! It's like playing in a Nuke's Top 5 video.
Ninja Gaiden is the Blueprint for dark souls. heavily underrated series. the new releases have easier accessibility options, for people who want to play the game easier (still not super easy though).
They were not overshadowed until they fucked up DW series and put up weird practices for DOA. For the musou series, even the new SW game couldn't make them regain popularity.
If there's one thing I know about Koei-Tecmo is that they dont believe in discounts. Still charging full price for many if their oldest games on Steam. If they ever have a sale its like 10%
Console seems to be a lot better in that regard. I've seen both Blue Reflections and the Ryza trilogy go on sale every so often on PSN and the discounts were pretty good. Currently waiting on BR: Second Light to be half off again since I wanted to beat the first game before picking up the sequel.

DOA as a good example:
It got RUINED by the level of microtransactions it was flooded with, using DOA6 (DOA5 is NEARLY as bad)as an example: 2-4 dollar costumes for INDIVIDUAL costumes, some of the season passes being 90 bucks a whack, and generally just racked up over 1k dollars worth of DLC, with even buying as season passes and collections leaving you at 500 dollars plus in the hole.
Pretty much, they get lazier & more predatory each time.
@@leroidethunes3913yeah what they did to ninja gaiden was horrible first two were great then they butchered the 3rd game and decided the kill the series completely with yaiba
If Kai was ranked as a franchise he would be a flagship
I was really confused why Kai is "he", since she is quite a lady from Samurai Warriors franchise. But then I saw the channel name.
I was going mention that franchise, but we can kinda guess it's on the limbo since it's niche
Honestly a Star Wars: Dynasty Warriors game would be sick
Explain how? Star wars is like for nerds and stuff tbh. I hope it stays far away from my anime

Honestly im surprised we haven't gotten a Ninja Giaden Warriors game. They could bring in so many of their characters for it.
The Ninja Gaiden characters are playable in Warriors Orochi
@@Hilversumborn Adding to it, they're also playable in Warriors All-Stars.
Personally I am shocked that we never got a final fantasy warriors, it literally sells itself
@@thechugg4372 holy shit you're right
So many franchises would be great as Warriors games. Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Mario, so many possibilities.
Ah……Ninja Gaiden. The only game that kicks more ass than the kickass ninja himself. Great job with this video, friend. :)
Deception, Fatal Frame, Monster Rancher, Warriors series is my favs.
I'm currently playing Dead Or Alive 5 and I'm having a lot of fun. I didn't appreciate it enough back at the day.
Warriors Orochi got me into the mosou type games, and Samurai Warriors made me stay.
Also, Kessen 3 was the middle finger on the media for giving Oda Nobunaga a historical villian upgrade.
I wish they'd make a modern Tecmo Bowl, even without the NFL license
Im still hoping they make a Final Fantasy Warriors game oneday
Hey i saw all your videos i love this series... Subscribed!
It was also know for its continue screen. If you know, you know.
I like Sw4-II
Dead or alive is my most wanted game to make come back anytime sooon the better
(although second surely would be ninja gaiden series) both deserve so high for me
The Atelier series is originally developed by Gust. Koei Tecmo supports publishing
Anything that has their logo at the beginning should count. And thats why Mana Khemia is not in this list, cause that one is purely Gust.
@@birifumiMana Khemia is explicitly part of the Atelier series (they are games #9 and #10 of the 25 mainline ones). That's why it doesn't have a separate listing here.

Aot and aot2 is the most diverse koei tecmo gameplay I've experienced. I wish they'd continue it.
As someone who plays fighting games, Nioh is the only ARPG out there with combat mechanics anywhere near those of a fighting game. The potential of builds, combos, cancels, techs etc. completely overshadows any ARPGs out there.
Only to be ruined by buffs and debuffs for each fight which is boring and also the animation is bad and stiff not natural and fluid
From Wikipedia: Since its debut in 2001, the Fatal Frame series has sold 1.3 million copies worldwide.[75]
The article this number is from is from 2014. No way this is accurate now.
Atelier
I hope we can get another Blue Reflection, Night of the Azure and Fatal Frame somewhere in the future.
Really enjoyed both Blue Reflection games, hope the series continues
quick note that a month ago, the director of wo long masakazu hirayama said that there are no plans for a new ninja gaiden at the moment. i'd probably put the series into the life support category, tbh
Nioh 2 is my favorite game of this company.
As for my wishlist, a new Ninja Gaiden, Toukiden and DOA.

You missed out on Winning Post, would belong on the Mainstay tier with over a dozen releases including one here in the west on the Saturn. Unlike the other two horse racing games, WP was about the business side of horse racing. At least it was back in the day.

35:49 The inverted Nioh logo irks me to no avail... HOIN!
Great, I was wondering when you would make a new one of this.
Hope you can make either SNK, Microsoft or Level 5 next. 😄👍
Definitely SNK
SNK is one of the last big Japanese Video game publishers, we are talking at least 30 franchises under their belt, we have a lot more Japanese videogame publishers and developers, but they are either recent new or don't have a lot of franchises Yet
Fate koei techmo seems great. I might going to buy it in the future.
doa will forever be the most underated fighter of all times 6 flopped but up to 5 ultimate it deserves way more respect its great
Thank you for this trip down memory lane.
This is so specific. But this is specifically directed at me. Pretty neat.
Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors and DRAGON QUEST HEROES as well. There have been 2 games of each.
I showed my wife monster rancher. When the monster died of old age she got upset and quit.
I'd want to say you forgot Trapt in the Deception category. It's pretty much a retelling of the first game plot.
Tecmo's Deception: Invitation to Darkness / Kokumeikan (1996)
Kagero: Deception II / Kagero: Kokumeikan Shinsho (1998)
Deception III: Dark Delusion / Somato (1999)
Trapt / Kagero II: Dark Illusion (2005)
Deception IV: Blood Ties / Kagero: Dark Side Princess (2014)
*Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess / Kagero: Another Princess (2015)
I honestly did not know Nobunaga's Ambition was one of Koei Tecmo's biggest
franchise. I guess that explains why Pokemon Conquest exists.
This is so crazy how this video recently came out. I was literally just talking about how big koei tecmo probably is cause of all those warriors games
Rygar is in nioh...kinda. there's an npc you can fight called reboot rygar. He even has dialogue when you beat him. Oh and you can play a ryu In nioh 2 as a collaboration for the ninja gaiden master collection
I love this series! You should consider covering Atari or Ubisoft next.
Microsoft has to be three parts especially since Bethesda and Activision-Blizzard are big enough to have had their own video.
Keep in mind that Microsoft also has Activision and Bethesda. Grab your popcorn, grab your licorice, grab your root beer, grab your stromboli, it’s gonna be a long video.
Kadokawa, Type-Moon, Arc System Works, Sun Corporation and Irem just to name a few.

Awesome video, Subbed!
Awesome video. Had to subscribe
One piece's warrior series for me is the definitive one piece experience since the attacks in one piece are usually massive anyway

Dynasty Warriors Tactics techically ended with Dynasty Warriors Godseekers. It's not a part of the serries officially, but it is the same for it as a Bladestorm is for Kessen. Intended successor that flopped way too hard to continue.
Nobunaga Ambitions and it's spinnoff series Romance of the Three Kingdoms (okay, they both influencing enough to be counted as separate) also have other spinoffs, Genghis Han, Bandit Kings of Ancient China (Suikoden but not the one everyone loves) and L'Empereur.

reminder that this was the "last piece" to come out as part of that Blue Reflection super project back in 2021 sooo what's in store for this series now?...
They should focusing more on the "Big Three" warriors franchise instead of the licensed games tbh.
tbh i would consider Nioh flagship at this point but with the caveat that Wo Long and Rise of the Ronin are the next entries in the series like how Bloodborne and Elden Ring are seen as part of the Souls Series.
Ahh Rygar. What a classic. I say it's time to revisit making a new one. The PS2 release was pretty good too.
I will forever be grateful for making Captain Tsubasa 2 thank you 🙏 Tecmo Koi…. If someone could make the same game with better graphics
I'm still waiting for Ninja Gaiden 4 and Night of Azure 3.
Over their big Nioh & Ryza exposure boom.
i don't think that's possible, every Atelier mc would have the same moveset lmao. being a guest character like Sterk and Sophie in Warriors Orochi is enough for me
You forgot Bladestorm The Hundred Years' War (2007) and Bladestorm Nightmare (2015) by Omega-Force.
as a huge deception fan, it makes me sad they just never got that popular.
"You are a true warrior of the Mushroom Kingdom!"
it sounds crazy, but they did go for the Zelda warriors games. It could happen.
I actually don’t, even Kunoich it’s thanks to porn not the studio. Studio fow W for real
So no he is right.
@@exiledcowboy298 Dude what? That actually gave me a good laugh.
Man im waiting for years for Ninja Gaiden 4 or a Reboot 😢
It's like playing in a Nuke's Top 5 video.

the new releases have easier accessibility options, for people who want to play the game easier (still not super easy though).
I only know about Tecmo for those Random NES sports games.
