Cool and rational when it suits their mode, the high court is corrupt. Ask them to prosecute the treasonous politicians and political parties constantly committing treason, and destroying our Constitutional rights.

    Trawling for victims is at the heart of this and why the case is so different. It's what inevitably leads to injustice and should be consigned to history along with other actions from the recent past that came into fashion with high incidences of injustice. I talk of forced confessions, extended interrogation, leading questioning of children, repressed memory therapy and "believe all victims" justice systems (still fashionable in Victoria and to fully have its day of reckoning)

    • @Squodgamullis
      @Squodgamullis 4 года назад +1

      But that's what the presumption of innocence is, and it applies in every single case. Perhaps "...a crime that he didn't commit..." isn't the ideal way to word things, but at issue is the idea that you can't prove a negative ("Okay then, PROVE that unicorns don't exist!"), and it's unjust to leave the suggestion of guilt perpetually hanging over somebody. If you can't prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt, then you are obliged to assume that any person - Pell, or some bloke down the road - is innocent. The principle applies to every person in society, and it lies at the heart of the law in all Western democracies.

    I agree entirely. And presumably, the IPA has been just as vocal in demanding that those in the Catholic church who have been involved in the covering up of child abuse should also resign. Correct.? And they fully support the payment of compensation to victims..... Correct ?

    Lack of evidence, or mis-handling evidence doesn't mean a lack of guilt. Miscarriage of justice, really, for who, the victim or the perpertrator. Just because a high court rules he is innocent doesn't mean he is not guilty. Rule of Law, well people go by morals and ethics and make up their own minds, so the onus of proof is less than the rigid legal system. After all, we all know that justice and the law rarely meet. Justice certainly wasn't the final outcome of this, but a travesty of it!

    It is disgusting that the accuser is still being treated as a victim. Yes, he was abused by a priest. That is no excuse for lying about Cardinal Pell. Cardinal Pell is the victim, his accuser is a predator who is trying now to get a civil judgment based on his lies about Cardinal Pell. He should, instead, be charged with perjury and imprisoned.

  • @pickleonions4277

    So he is suggesting stop persecution of Pell and start persecution of police force,
    We can ignore the fact that Pell presided over decades of catholic abuse of children and was liable every time he moved an abusive priest from one abusive location to another. We should forget the times abuse was reported to him and he took no action. Moving a priest to another location so they could continue their abuse is totally complicit in the problem. While he was investigated for abuse how many abusive priests did he help to bring to face justice.
    If people came forward to say pell abused them they would have needed to be very brave to go through the agony all over again.
    You do not support your church by pushing evil acts by its ministers under the carpet. Worldwide the catholic church has many questions it needs to answer. That's not to say the legal service is blameless they have been complicit in cover ups of the church wrong doing as well. Many of them are catholic too and will not want to be involved in inflicting damage to the church and its servants better to look the other way the children can be ignored.
    Now we know the true meaning of the church's "suffer little children to come under me"

    This was a good segment. What I believe and Pell did or did not is irrelevant. As one of the guests said, our faith in government (inc police and the law), plus the media is at a low point. Identity politics is at an extreme. We don’t judge people by their merit. We judge them by their identity. What’s worse, many people comment on our “progress” over the last few decades. It’s regression. I think most people would see the last 30 years as a backward step.
    Our politicians should have stood up to this, so should have the courts.
    It’s good to see recognition of how broken things are. However, discombobulation is the norm these days. Too many presenters at Sky virtue signal if and when it suits them. Then, they complain about identity politics.

    How many people committed suicide in jail because are given many years and they were innocent???!!!! Unfortunately not everyone can fight their case and 95% of people plea guilty at an early stage hoping to get a lesser sentence while instead we ALL should have the right to a fair trial and this should not be available only to people that can afford it!!!!! The whole justice system is definitely not right in Australia!!!!!!!

    I'm on the fence regarding George Pells guilt. Usually I'd say where there's smoke there's fire. Wasn't he suspected more than the occasions in just the 90's of molesting/abusing young boys?
    Whether you're for or against the judgement of the high court, it's an absolute blunder the Australian legal system has made.
