  • This animation shows how Blackmer reciprocating gas compressors, are used in rail car fluid transfer, and vapor recovery. Blackmer high-efficiency oil-free reciprocating gas compressors allow vapor recovery, adding 3% capacity or more to every load handled, by fully evacuating the heel. Ideal for a wide range of liquefied gases, including propane (LPG), butane and anhydrous ammonia. To learn more about the Blackmer® gas compressors in this video, please visit: www.psgdover.c...

The LPG vapors are recovered by the compressor, and during the process they are compressed from a vapor back to a liquid, and then pushed back into the storage tank. This leaves the railcar empty of LPG. This way customers get all the LPG that was paid for, and leaving the railcar empty to provide any potential cross-contamination with its next load.
