Just wondering after 10 years, do you do the saigon squat like the bike repair guy at 8mins? When I first arrived in vn I couldn't even get near the ground but after a while, sitting on floors and doing the saigon squat waiting for a bus etc became a bit more normal 😂 thanks for the video

I suggest you a little tip to dry clothes quickly in the rainy season when you can't hang clothes: buy a 60w infrared/incandescent bulb, it will dry your clothes in 3 hours. Light the bulb in the middle and hang wet clothes around it. I have cycled across Vietnam and applied this method, it is effective. Besides, you can also use a fan but it is not as effective as using an infrared bulb (it radiates a lot of heat)

Great video!! I’m from Hue, but I’m Canadian -Vietnamese! Love all your videos! It’s true you can get good Vietnamese food anywhere… even in Canada and my mom makes great banh, pho and bun bo hue etc. I just came back from Da Nang and Hue, some places have better Vietnamese food then other.. it’s hit and miss.
You have to understand banh beo, banh loc,banh nam and bun bo hue is originally from Hue. So everyone would think that in Hue is better, but like a food connoisseur I have find food in an alley in Saigon way better than a lot of places in Hue. To me there are no other places better than Saigon.
My dad has traveled a lot, and he's of the same opinion; whatever you want to eat, you can find in Hochiminh, and it might even taste better. The only stuff you can find better are the traditional snacks made by vendors or in the countryside instead of in big city's restaurants.
This is interesting video. My hats off to you who was incredibly courageous to ride a bicycle from North to South of Vietnam for 1000+ kilometers in such dangerous conditions with a bad weather and yet alone...(I have 2 bikes here but anytime going around Queens or fr. Queens to Brooklyn NYC I always jump on the train SW...ashamed!!!). You are right about the pronounced Hue accent is tended to go low /down tone at the end and I'm surprised you were able to understand many of those "Hue" words. I aggreed most of the foods "made" in the orignal place are authentic, better, more delicious but not necessarily all. Some Viet dishes in US are more delicious than ..the same "made" in VN. Have a safe and good trip.
My honest opinion, California has the best Vietnamese food. But, if I’m in VN, the city with the best tasting food is Saigon. Saigon has all 3 main regions dishes perfected. I have been to Hue, Ha Noi, Da Nang, and all over VN and still think Saigon has it all and best tasting.

hey Dustin, if you really want to try bun Bo Hue, i would recommend to try Bun Bo Hue at a small village instead of center of the city. im from Hue, but i do think Banh Canh Ca Loc is way better than Bun Bo Hue. maybe you should try it out sometime.

Next time you should ask the best authentic Huề stalls. I’m sure you already went to Nha Trang. You can find bánh béo just lift off the steamer. They also have banh nậm n bánh lộc near chợ sớm Mới. Very popular place in Nha Trang. They used to only same in the evening. But after Covid, they open for breakfast and lunch besides their popular dinner crowd
