I remember watching this movie with my pops as a Kid. It aired on USA network and it was called “Northern Kicks and Southern Fist” Classic
That was the name used in Jamaica and I was always looking for it by that name. Nostalgic! I Would love to know what happened to John Lui.

Its all the cast of 'Struggle Thru Death' in this movie. Still a fantastic movie though. Brilliant.
John Liu, Liu Chung and Wang Tao are my 3 favorite kung-fu actors especially John Liu with his leg kung-fu is awesome 🫡.
Kung Fu is my favorite movie I watch them over n over
Description covers the beginning and end of movie. Some of the in between for a head start: Capt Shao and "Lu Tung Chun" fight right off the bat. 2 of Lu's men are killed that "Lee Naun" (Chin Lung) tried to save. Shao has a restaurant fight with an agitator. "Lee Naun" is getting his teachings from both experts. 4 fighters vs Lee Naun for a good lengthy fight. Shao and Lu fight again at a brothel. "Chow Hu" is the killer with a scar that works for "Chu Tao Pin" (Robert Tai). Shao & Lee Naun find a big fight in a field then fights some masked men. Meanwhile Lu Tung Chun (Lo Rei) is ambushed. Capt. Shao meets "Chu Tao Pin" with an intruder arriving, and second intruder next. Although all 3 are different this Secret Rival carries its fighting as well as the other two. NOTE: Chin Lung's antics and fighting skills greatly enhanced this already fine kung fu film !

Thought there was only a part 1 & 2. Which were both great.
But this one was crappy.
I mean when compared to the other two.
Hwang Jang Lee, one of the most greatest kung fu stars ever was in parts 1 & 2 but Not in this part 3.
Also this part never got the exposure and fame like the other two.
Sadly part 3 just didn’t meet up to its expectations... at all.
John Lui was the only good thing about this part.
Bottom line, don’t compare this part to its other two. No way. Not even close.
Part 1 released in 1976.
Part 2 in 1977
And this part 3 crap in 1981.

We should know by now not to trust Western distributors. This is presented as a "sequel" to bring in the dollars, but the original title and film release info implies that this is more like some sort of "reboot", or at least presented as one to bring in the Chinese "dollars". Yeah, can't trust Eastern distributors either.
I love this hero very much especially his kicking style n flexibility is beyond imagine . Hope he is still alive ?😥

In the UK this was known as Challenge of The Masters. Such a classic.
Thats actually a completely different movie with Gordon Liu and Chen Quan Tai. One of Gordon's Wong Fei Hung roles. Its interesting to see how these were alternately named in other markets.

This movie in America was called 'Northern Kicks Southern Fist. I believe it also was the concept behind 'Fist of the North Star for Kenshiro & Shen.
Oh yes I'm old school and I remember those Saturdays watching those martial arts movies also

tan Tao liang taught alot of them,,,,and he taught another one that's good with his feet,,,,tan Tao liang did a demonstration and still can hang with the big boys today,,,he's only 68 years old and doesn't look his age at all....

I love how they're willing to deny their guilt of murdering each other's brother and students, but any question beyond that they say I don't have to answer to you so that they can fight again and play right into the hands of their enemies. It reminds me of how heroes always have to fight first in comic book team ups because of a misunderstanding before they can work together
