Foster care is entirely too focused on reunification even today in many states. It's horrible. These children are robbed of a chance for a better life just because of the legal system. May Johnny rest in peace. 😢🙏🏼

The "father" probably suspected or knew that Johnny wasn't his child, and instead of dealing with the situation like a real man would, he decided to be a coward and make Johnny pay for something he had no control over. He would've turned 59 years old today, RIP sweet boy ❤

😢 poor little man, he most likely pee'd his pants due to overwhelming fear.. that father looks evil and the mother too but him? There is no niceness in his face. One parent beating you is heartbreaking but both parents?? Look at his little hands and face in that photo at the start, I just wanna cuddle him... He's definately in a better place and free from pain and trauma, it's just sad that he had to go back to those monsters.. rip little Johnny 😭💔🕊🙏
I grew up in the Chicago area in the 70's and remember this case very well. Thanks for talking about this little boy. Johnny Lindquist (1965-1972): A child who was a victim of abuse and neglect. He was placed in a foster home, but tragically passed away on August 31, 1972, at the age of 7. He is buried in the Children’s Cemetery in Chicago.

As a child who grew up in the 1960s, I can attest to the fact that socially it was more common in the U.S. for kids to get hit by adults, even to the point of getting injured. Unfortunately, parents and adults in general had more autonomy then. Even teachers were allowed to smack kids around in school without accountability. Even though some of this still happens today, many adults and states disagree and think there are more humane, less violent ways to teach children how to behave, rather than ruling them by fear, intimidation and physical pain.
When I has a kid I had a friend who had a "hot-tempered" father. He got so angry one time, he literally threw his daughter across the room and broke her nose. The mother did nothing to stop it (I think she was afraid of him, too!) A high school friend told me her father hit her over the head with a 2X4. There is NO excuse for this kind of abuse!

I remember this case. I recall a photo of Johnny as a ring bearer. I grew up in a violent household, too. My parents were frustrated & angry at how hard life was for them, blamed us, for being born & beat us to pulps to alleviate their frustration. As an adult, I volunteered for child abuse prevention programs, having direct contact w/ some victims, offering them comfort. Child abuse prevention is EVERYONE'S responsibility.
My older brother was born in 1972. He was 6 months old when this little boy died at the hands of those bastards that were his birth parents. I hope they are burning in hell forever for this!!! RIP little Johnny. You aren't forgotten.
As a former foster parent this breaks my heart the system failed this child. Sadly, there are children today that need the help but the system struggles because there are not enough loving homes to place the children. If you've ever entertain the thought to open your home and your hearts. I'm hear to tell you it will be a blessing to both you and the child. You won't regret it. ~ RIP Little Johnny
The foster system is broken and bursting at the seams, yet a certain party wants more babies brought into this world! That same party refuses to contribute to these poor children's provisions!
Good Foster families is key. I don't know many kids a good experience in foster care. I know many including myself that had a bad experience in foster care and of course horrible experiences at home. Many kids have been ripped out of homes for no reason and put in foster care to be harmed. Others are totally bypassed and left in Homes where are they tortured. People just need to be better because the system is not always the answer.

Ron this breaks my heart!I know there's so much child abuse still going on. How could you do this to your own flesh and blood and such a sweet looking guy! I like you hope that his parents are burning in he'll or whatever happens to people like this. It was great to get on RUclips and here are you and Britton speaking from a cemetery. In 1972 I had just has my 1st baby on August 23rd so I wasn't reading newspapers or watching the news, I was getting used to being a mom. The name Lindquist does ring a bell but I think it's a popular name in Chicago. Thank you Ron and Britton for caring and your respect for those gone before us.

It's terrible that this occurred. The parents are and will always be worthless humans. When my siblings and i were young we experienced beats, neglect and sexually abuse. I feel for Johnny it was horrible for him. Again, Ron and Britton. Thank you for bring this to us here. Be safe on your travels.

To say this is heartbreaking is an understatement. Although the subject matter is tough it’s information is a dark reminder we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors and that we should show kindness. Because it could be what someone needs. I’m glad to watch and learn. Most importantly never forget.

This story reminds me of 6-year-old Lisa Steinberg who was beaten to death by her "adoptive" father in 1987 (New York, NY). Both she and Johnny would have been better off in loving foster homes than with the monsters they called "parents." What were the child "welfare" people thinking???

Ron, I forgot all about this story until your video, but I do remember when this happened. Even as young as I was then (I think soon to be 14), it horrified me. I remember something about the bio parents wanting him back to make their welfare check bigger, and even worse that his bio father used to hang him upside down with a rope in the basement for eight hours a day to cure his bedwetting. Poor Johnny what he went through by these disgusting horrid parents. There is no punishment on this earth that would ever be just enough for these evil parents and the horrible crimes they committed against this defenseless child. Only since their deaths has justice truly been served. It just breaks my heart. Thank you for bringing him back into our memories, Rest in peace and love forevermore little guy ❤💐 ...... To end this on a happier note, I'm glad to see you found Brittan!

They had four other children that were put in foster care but foster system failed him putting him back with his parents.. mother charge was aggravated assault 2 to 6 yrs n father aggravated assault man slaughter 3 to 10 yrs but both went up for parole way before then..the father that night called the police saying I beat up a kid and he needs to go to the hospital.. this is very sad and they should have gotten the death penalty.. little angel with Jesus

It looks like Mr. Karvarnek passed in 2003. I didn’t find anything for Mrs. Florence Karvanek. It may well be that the kind foster mother is the one that left the Footprints token.
Lindquist were the people my grandma rented a house to in Rio Linda California in the early 1970s... ironically, John Lindquist was the oldest boy. This isnt them of course, but it sure got my attention!
So sad, poor little boy. He had a loving foster family that treated him very well but the courts thought it was best to put him back with the child beaters.😮😢 Those court systems are completely screwed up.😠
