  • The Hadza, or Hadzabe, are an ethnic group in north-central Tanzania, living around Lake Eyasi in the central Rift Valley and in the neighboring Serengeti Plateau. The Hadza number just under 1000. Some 300--400 Hadza live as hunter-gatherers, much as their ancestors have for thousands or even tens of thousands of years; they are the last full-time hunter-gatherers in Africa.

    I was there with them 12 years ago. It was really wonderful! We saw the same hunter-session (that day was dead and eaten a lemmur - babybush). They danced the second dance. One child was ill of malaria and we could bring it to the doctor. Maybe is one of these hunters! Good luck Hadzabe!!

    There is absolutely nothing obnoxious about them. Yes, they have louder voices than do the Khoisan, and they are of course physically different from the Khoisan with a darker skin tone and more Bantu-like features, and are taller too. Nobody said that they are the same as the Khoisan, they are of a different ethnicity, but have a lot in common with the Khoisan with regard to many things, especially as both groups are hunter-gatherers.

    I think really the reason why earlier cultures of people's smoked and didn't die or get as many diseases was because they didn't pump it full of chemicals as we do today i mean smoking itself can be bad but not as bad as when its full of chemicals.

    They were mistakenly classified as part of the Khoisan group because their language also contains clicks, but both linguistic and DNA research have determined that they are not part of the Khoisan group. They did not originally come from South Africa, but are like the San one of the few remaining hunter-gatherer tribes.

    Smoking is not in itself carcinogenic. The smoke inhaled from cigarettes is filled with carcinogenic chemicals.
    Smoking does severely damage the lungs however, and this is the same for every human on the planet, the people here included.
    Also, many people who live in their traditional ways can and do develop cancer. An example is in Papua New Guinea, where chewing betel nut has been commonplace for tens of thousands of years. Betel nut contains a known carcinogen and causes throat cancer.

      kubek w it does really amaze me that just every time they show hunter gatherers, they all live a very healthy lifestyle except for one thing. Some of them will run down an animal, hours and miles and then light up a smoke. What is with the smoking?

    • @smokeclouds8
      @smokeclouds8 7 лет назад

      @eugene bell, I'm sure smoking isn't much of a concern for them since they're so healthy to begin with.
      I wonder what they are smoking though, tobacco or herbs, maybe cannabis...

    • @smokeclouds8
      @smokeclouds8 7 лет назад

    The Hadza are not closely genetically related to any other people. While traditionally classified with the Khoisan languages, primarily because it has clicks, the Hadza language appears to be an isolate, unrelated to any other. The descendants of Tanzania's aboriginal hunter-gatherer population, they have probably occupied their current territory for several thousand years, with relatively little modification to their basic way of life until the past hundred years.

  • @sonikku956
    @sonikku956 8 лет назад

    Are they related to the Khoisan peoples of Southern Africa? They also speak various click languages.

  • @Vierotchka
    @Vierotchka 11 лет назад

    Actually, they are hunter-gatherers and their social structure is very much like that of the Khoisan from the Kalahari. Their territory is not of the same nature as the Kalahari, hence their culture is slightly different from that of the Khoisan, but just like the Khoisan they have no leaders, total equality between them (including the women) and share everything equally.

    despite a government allowing them to hunting to the non conservation area still those people live in the very harsh life,isolated bushed away to their natural land which are very worth for their life and the conflicting laws of land and policies which does not favor those people.Their traditional land still taking with their other people b'se of non favorable policy to them and non protection to laws against their land.

    • @elizabethmcnabb972

      This is so true. Their ranges have been utterly limited, resources depleted exponentially. Granted, they are still on ancient land, and do know how to live well there.
      Humans are extremely adaptable. We forget that we evolved as a nomadic species. Hunter-gatherer groups such as the Hadzabe have continued to pass on the wisdom of their ancestors. Every day I don't understand what we are doing as a species, especially in "developed" countries. These beautiful people choose this beautiful, symbiotic way of life. Because they give back to Earth, their bliss is being able to rise every morning, breathe in fresh air, live in the sunshine, forage for fresh food and fresh water, eat healthfully, rest peacefully, guiltlessly, light as a feather, quick as animals, surviving and taking no more than is needed. . .
      Another amazing common sense these people have is that they live in bands of a sustainable size, which vary slightly depending on their environment and the climate.
      We modern humans, greasy big-brained cogs, pigs in the systematic race of what the fuck ever we are doing and agreeing to, not questioning, etc., are more adaptable than we think, but we are shielded from reality, and instead playing the game of a fake, self-centered, politically/culturally-constructed reality, suffering every day from external warfare and internal complexes, ill healths, drama, trauma, suffering, depression, loneliness, anger, greed, sadness.
      We could all learn a lot from studying and remembering this history, which is all of our history.
