This is Part 1 from my Meghalaya series where I reached Shillong on the day 1 of the trip along with my friend Ankit Bhatia.

Shillong is a hill station in northeast India and capital of the state of Meghalaya. It’s known for the manicured gardens at Lady Hydari Park. Nearby, Ward’s Lake is surrounded by walking trails. North, the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures features displays on the region’s native people. Waterfalls include the Elephant Falls to the southwest. East of here, forested Shillong Peak offers city views.

The city I love the most in this big world is Shillong , I am Mizo but I like and miss Shillong a thousand times better than Aizawl, I love it even more than my homeplace . Khasi , Garo and Jaintia people are like my brother not just a friend , I love them more than I can say . Their hospitality and goodness during the three years I stayed there will be remembered and treasured the rest of my life .

I absolutely loved your 5 part series of Meghalaya. I'm from Shillong too and due to this pandemic we are unable to travel or visit any of these places. My heart longs to travel to all these places again. It makes me realise just how lucky we are and how we take so many things for granted. I've lived in Shillong for the first 18 years of my life as a "non local" i.e a non khasi or non north east indian... I'll be very honest with you, Shillong has perfect weather and the landscape is beautiful. But, the people are s" hitty and not worth living there, some locals were extremely kind and helpful but the vast majority were unpleasant and hate crimes against non natives are very common incident there. It's a beautiful place filled with unfriendly people, not worth the trouble of staying there. Would recommend a visit though

I had my first crush in Shillong when I was 14, on Aaron who ran a gaming parlor in Laitumkrah, had long naturally dusty blonde hair, wore denims ripped at the knees, and was way older to me (lol). He gave me an AV output for my monitor out of goodwill and my two best friends wouldn't let me hear the end of it😅 Love Shillong so much, my friends and I would stay over with my dad when he lived there and just have the best time in the gorgeous city cradled in such abundant beauty😍

Thanks for sharing your experiences about my Ri Khasi. Atm, watching this video while watching the skies of Melbourne Australia, and COVID-19 spread. I'm having mixed feelings about my roots in Shillong. But no one is better off. We are all in the equivalent equation, Stage 4 Restrictions and the rising numbers. On the other hand, I still feel hopeful. My son walks in the room and asked if I'm ok. I just turned back and said yes.

Shillong is the best hill station in North east I visited Police bazar whenever I visit Ward ''S lake but couldn't visit Cherrapunji. Barapani is awesome. Seeing the scenery sitting on a higher place mind is refreshed. Camelia is grown abundantly which is one of favourite flower. Bara bazar was visited 3/4 times. Golf field also so Butiful took photos at the field. Houses r so cute so clean city good climate. good people.
