Oh it does happen in season 2 they kiss but now in season 3, Archie is in jail and so the long distance relationship with Veronica and him might not work out, and camila mendes (actress who plays Veronica) announced that Veronica will be finding a new love interest. That love interest is Reggie because she included that sentence. So, jughead and Betty share a sibling from Alice and FP, and Alice and FP have been seeing each other romantically lately (such as sleeping with each other etc...) so, once jughead and Betty find that out, that might break them up. So Archie and Betty can have some moments. Just my theory from my research.

I feel like no one ships barchie. I ship bughead and barchie and varchie(only a little though). What I am glad though is that Betty and Archie are still friends which I feel as if people forget. It takes time, but one can still be friends with someone they like/used to like.
