Pros:
- Baddie Good Cop
- Ether DPS
- Extreme synergy with every support
- Actually will get stronger with more character releases
- Insane crit rate/crit dmg stats with signature
- Easily will push Shiyu defense (polychrome gain)
Cons:
- Camera shy
- Powercreep (kinda a cope reason to not pull tbh, probably last longer than Ellen also)
- I haven't pulled her yet and thus my enjoyment of life has dwindled...
Truly the best reason to pull her is if you don't already have a second team, she will be insanely good for one and easy to build. The polychromes from Shiyu Defense are irreplaceable so however you get them, get them. She will also pair well with Qingyi, obviously, when she drops and likely will only get better as more Supports come out.
While dmg dealers will always be powercrept eventually. I'm feeling this is going to be an imaginary damage situation and we may not get another ether dps for a looooong time. So having her now will make it worthwhile, along with her team being a much lower barrier to entry
U will want a main dps across all elements, DPS is always replaceable but u need to think about how far down the road u need to wait if u skip any limited dps to get a main dmg carry for a specific element.
My experience with gacha games. 3 month timeline before you find another good DPS for your team to replace. Should you save or spend your pulls for the current ones? There's no definitive answer unless you want to suffer another 3 months of grinding over like miniscule numbers or the devs rotate out new enemies that will specifically benefit the current banners. It's all about promotion and sales.
She felt so good to play with during her story trial. I have full guaranteed wishes ready, she's coming home regardless.
In ZZZ, pull for characters you want , not just for damage. They will be powercrept nonetheless.
She's super FTP, you dont need to keep rerolling for a specific 5* like ellen does with lycon. Her passive works with any support so shes future proof versatile for more comps and can function as a main or sub dps in future teams. Lastly despite the hype you dont need to pull for her 5* stun teammate in 1.1. Amby works fine, more so with imprints
Grace, Seth, and Jane Doe will most likely gonna be my disorder team. While Zhu Yuan, Nicole, and Anby will be my traditional hypercarry team.

I spent £230 on ZZZ since its launch my account is good and i won't be planning to to spend anymore money until Seth Lowell is released.
I skipped Ellen and have been saving up my pulls for Zhu because she was just so much more fun to play in the story segments. I should have 140 pulls or so, which I hope won't be necessary to blow but is pretty close to guaranteed given the pity system. Even though "90" is the guarantee, soft pity kicks in at 75 and it becomes extremely likely to get it before 80.
underplaying nicole like crazy, getting her mindscapes from the banner is huge because she is one of the best units in the game with her crowd control and defense ignore. With her synergy with mommy, the only thing limiting the team is a synergizing stun unit.
I rerolled. I pulled both Lyc and Koleda in 10 pulls at 20 pity and got Grace w engine at 70 pulls at the standard banner. I'm sitting at 140 pulls in the limited banner and still grinding. The question is, should I go for Ellen (last day banner) or just pull for Zhu? I got Lyc so Ellen is the perfect choice but I like Zhu more. I'm at 50/50 because I'm not pulling at a limited banner yet but I'm sure I'm gonna pull either Ellen or Zhu.
Got Ellen and Lycaon, skipping Zhu Yuan so I can get Jane Doe and her weapon
Got extremely lucky and pulled Ellen in my very first 10 Pull, so I'm fully expecting it to take exactly 180 pulls on this banner to get Zhu Yuan lol.
Technically it's possible that you you do more than 1000 pulls without ever getting her.

@@Quintessence4444 How? Pity system guarantees a 5* at 90 pulls, so even if you lose the 50/50 you would be guaranteed the banner character at 180, no?

...no. On every drip marketing ad it said 1.1. Zhu Yuan has been know and expected to be released in 1.0

Zhu Yuan will be a hard pass for me, I gotta go for Miyabi and save up for Lucy and Piper's faction

If you got ellen+another damage dealer as a f2p then skip. If not then pull

Every damage dealer character will be power crept, no matter when they come out. that's not really a reason not to pull for them.
Yep better to have a DPS you like and can use right away instead of worrying about "powercreep", especially when considering there's no leaderboard (like HI3rd) to chase for and the rewards on Shiyu Defense does not justify spending upwards of 180 pulls.

Short Answer: Yes
Long answer: She's easier to build then Ellen and can reach high crit stats without a signature weapon unlike Ellen.
I skipped ellen and will go for zhu yuan

Pulling her because she's cute, dilligent, carries a frontloaded bakery and her playstyle doesn't hurt my boomer hands.
i got insanely lucky on Ellens banner and even her W-Engines banner so i have no qualms pulling for her for my second team and seeing what happens from there

Saved up 20k polychrome for her. I got Ellen early 5 singles so I have 25 tapes too. She was awesome in the story and her design was exquisite. 😈 good luck everyone.
Nubkeks, I just wanted to say that I followed you back in the HotS days which seems like forever ago (thanks for those guides!), and it was very bizarre when I just happened to click on a Zhu Yuan video and your voice immediately made me keep thinking "this guy sounds familiar." Glad to see you're still keeping on!
Only got rina from banner and need a top tier dps and I liked Zhu before I started the game got loads saved hopefully get her and c4 or c6 Nicole so far c2
next Ether attacker will be almost 1year later.(4 elements x 5type/1 gacha every 3weaks)
If she’s good at dodging and doing damage I need her.
I didn't skip Ellen's banner as I'm unlucky since the only new character i got from standard banner is 2 copies of Grace 😂. So i needed more characters, i got c5 soukaku and c4 anton, no ellen. Roster is still very limited for me. Outside of the free chsracter only anton and grace.
So I'm going for Zhu yuan. Hopefully i will win 50/50.
Your progress on the Ellen banner carries over to the Zhu Yuan one so you should be good!
