Geez you would think the #1 presentation software in the world would have an easier way to fulfill the common need for a countdown timer!

I agree! It should be a easier to have a timer. There are paid add-ons that make the process simpler and more customizable. However, some companies and organizations block the Microsoft Store altogether or block the ability to purchase add-ons. So some folks don't have any other option than to create their own.
