I use my steam link quite often, the only thing I run into is that time to time some games have issues detecting m/kb or controller input after you launch the game, looking at you Grim Dawn. Also, another point you didn’t mention is that the steam link allows you to stream any game and do basically anything on your PC, not just play games on steam. You can just minimize steam and use your computer like normal, which is great. Best 5 bucks I’ve spent for PC gaming.

I actually ended up buying a Steam Link off of eBay for $30 to put in my room with my TV. I know that the Steam Link went on sale for as low as a dollar before, but it was saving me a whole lot more money than buying a Raspberry Pi with a case, microSD card, and whatever else I needed. I have zero regrets buying the Steam Link. I use it very frequently and actually stream my laptop to the Steam Link. Even though both the laptop and Steam Link are not on Ethernet, there's no noticeable lag. this is with 60 down/10 up Mbps internet. So yeah, no regrets buying it off eBay for $30, and I'd honestly suggest others to do the same if they're interested in it.

Hey can you try doing this with window 10 ARM with steam installed and set to start in big Picture and stream the games that way? I’m thinking mostly for wireless Xbox one controller via the wireless adapter? (so things like the chatpad and audio on the controller works)
I was eyeing a raspberry at a certain point in time to stream gaming to my living room TV. But then a steam sale came up and the steam link was so much cheaper than the raspberry so I went with that. Can’t say I use it that much but overall it works absolutely great. I wouldn’t play csgo over it but any “console-like” game is absolutely fine
Do you experience crackling sound on the steam link after some playtime, for example 20 minutes? Mine does every time. Quiting the stream and then continue the stream gets back to good sound for again 20-30 minutes. Wondering if this due to my host pc being linux or not. Does the Pi have the same issue? Note that dolby surround streaming with steam link doesn't work with linux due to bugs in steam.
Hello, Thank you for the video. Could you please tell compare also with the android app running either on android tv boxes or on Android TVs? I have a sony bravia tv which has Android built in so I directly installed it on the TV. The issues I run on look very similar to the issues you described when using the raspberry pi over wifi, although I am using ethernet (through powerline adapters)
Instead of using Rasberry Pi wireless, you could connect it to a access point, that would solve the issue with lags. Also, some access points are very cheap, and if you have a extra router laying around, you can config that to be a access point instead of router. Ive connected some lan printers to a wireless access point, and basically made them wireless, and saved the customers alot of money instead of buying a wireless printer.

What about the 2B? I could probably use that over wired and a heat sync to keep it cool.
Does someone is also experiencing a really annoying display latency (+50ms) even through gigabit ethernet? Ping is under 1ms and fps locked to around 60...
I'm using rasberry pi 3b+ with raspbian up to date
Quick question I can't really find an answer to, if my home PC running steam is wired to my router and i then take my steamlink to work and connect wired to that different Internet network will I still be able to access my computer with them being on a different network?
It's so hard lugging my while gaming system to work every other night and thought thr steam link might be good for a bit of light gaming... cheers.. oh I jave tried the android version over wifi and it sucks
Really interesting video. Loved the build you made with your daughter.
Anyone else just slowly skip through the video and watch the beer slowly disappear? 😂😂😂😂
With Steam Link on Raspberry Pi, can I hook up my Corsair peripherals such as my Mouse, Keyboard and USB 7.1 Headset which all use iCue?
Legend says that next Raspberry Pi will have real ethernet with no shared bandwidth with USB. It'd be interesting to also compare the performance with the Asus Tinkerboard, but price wise probably wouldn't be great...
I'm guessing the beer was your April's fool prank, Right!?? At least, I hope so...
You really think I would drink Bud Light?
@@CraftComputing who am I to judge!? 😜
hold up... Budlight has never been that dark for me. That looks delicious.
You have to do an update with this and see how it perform with the Pi 4 4GB model
Does it upscale to 2k or 4K? I still have a steam link but I don’t ever play it. Lol :(
How did you do the lemmings see through picture frame in the back? Is that just a screen with the back peeled off playing a gif in a loop?
I just wish you had tried to actually measure the input delay. The info in the bottom left corner only tells half the picture.
What case are you using?
man the steam link was the best device that steam ever made!!!! I got 2, one for the regular price when it released and the other on sale when they were discontinuing it.
what version of raspian?
Great video my dude, just a little suggestion, I think you should have your rigs rgb fan set to constant and the mario pixel set still aswell, as it proves to be a distraction while I'm watching & listening to you, really does shift my concentration to it
will you be updating this video based on the raspberry 4?
I got a link but the major downfall is not having a 3.5mm jack imo.
Also works well with Steam controllers and I also don't know why they discontinued those.
the dac on the raspberry is absolute trash though, even a usb sound card sounds better
Would love to see this comparison using a Pi 3B+ or 4.
What is the case on the Pi there? I want one.
Hello,
Thank you for the video.
Losing weight? "bud" you already small you mean you want to lose your beer belly and build muscle.
