- Fishermead is named after a field called Fishers Mead. The fishing theme is continued in the street naming. All of the streets are named after Cornish fishing villages. There are two schools in the area, The Willows (formerly Newlyn Place) first school and Jubilee Wood School (formed by the amalgamation of Penwith first school and Meadfurlong middle school in 2012). Fishermead is known for its many trees and parks, with several local shops including a Co-op and three fast-food vans.
The townscape in Fishermead is characterised by rectangular blocks of 100-150 metres in length, backing onto shared "garden squares".

Lived here in 1979 brand new 3 storey house with garage and balcony. Only one side of road open still a building site. No hospital, no shopping centre, spotless and clean. £18 per week rent. Worked in Fenny Stratford as a security officer for sureways. Milton Keynes development corporation policy was get a job in the area then your get a house. 1st was Springfield, Neath hill, lovely estates I got Fishermead.
I've been watching your videos, they are realy clear and also your driving is excellent. This is bringing back lots of memories for me. Maybe some day you will drive through West Bletchley. Thanks alot for uploading.
Wow , there is some really nice parts of Fishermead isn't there, I mean every estate in MK has its bad spots, but wow some of those car ports are grim :(
Yup, it's pretty tired looking. I've lived in Milton Keynes for over 40 years, and as a kid, I had a lot of friends in lived in Fishermead. The houses are very spacious, close to the shopping mall etc. But over the years, they've become rentals, and no one takes pride in their house anymore. It just seems normal to dump rubbish outside your front door and expect it to just disappear.
@@watchme.leonardpowers yup, you sound similar to me, I have been in MK since 1978, Downs Barn only had a few streets, my wife lived on fishermead when it was first built.. So we have all seen a lot of change.
