Shunyamurti said that the ego never knows presence (the now). The ego mind chatters and flits between the past and the future. When you are in the present, the ego dissolves - it dissipates. So meditation is the key to obtaining liberation (from ego). When you enter a state of total presence, you enter a higher dimension where there is no past or future. There is no duality. You are a microcosm (miniature version) of the macrocosm (living Universe). But when you meditate, you must maintain the state of pure presence for long enough, or else the ego mind pops back.
There are more than one keys. Meditation is but one and I know a lot of people being very proud that they 'do' yoga and 'meditate' but do no such thing 💟🙏
@Karma Bro Who must maintain a state? What is the state? The state people are trying to reach is what they really are. Trying to drag your fictional self into preferred state is a fictional story. I am the state. I am that out of which all states arise and eventually fall back into.
Indeed, souls are innately good precisely bc they originate from God - the Ultimate Source of Goodness, while egos are fallen souls who rebelled against God in an attempt to enjoy material existence outside of their eternal relationship with Him. The rivalry and battles between angels and demons in Biblical texts are really just metaphors/symbolic stories for the never-ending battle between the human ego and the human soul. One is selfish, vain, ungrateful, and insists its existence be autonomous and independent from God though it owns its very existence to Him (Lucifer/Satan), while the other knows better, surrenders to God, and devotes itself to being His loyal servant (the archangels)
Similar to what is written in the Qur'an, the soul is from God and Nafs try to translate it as self or the part of you which is the brain . And god says only the self can make you do evil and you should watch out and don't obey it. 🙏
You only need to experience the silence of the Self, the one above/beyond mind, beyond language and time and discover that "you" are that timeless, formless, eternal consciousness of Being.

I had a traumatic childhood like most, and when 8 years old, for 3 nights running, in my minds eye for several hours, I saw the smiling kind face of a man who seemed to know me, but whom I did not know as an 8 year old. When I was 50 years old, I worked with Auyashka for a while. In my last ceremony a few years ago, I spent 3 night sending some love and healing to my younger self, who'd been largely ignored (following the western approach to healing, rather than 'killing the inner child memory'). On the morning of the last day, I remembered my experience when I was 8, and the 3 nights it occurred, and the several hours per night that image of this man's face was in my 8 year-old mind. I was the man in the mirror. I had held a picture of my 8 year-old self as a 50 year old, and as an 8 year old, I saw my face looking at the picture - I'd somehow connected with myself over 4 decades apart.

In my assessment the current state of affairs - i.e., a change in mental virtue (Dharma) of humanity - i.e., value system in social, political, moral, ethics, honesty, spiritual etc., in the world, could be explained using the concept of Indian "Yuga" system which is cyclic in nature and consists of 4-Yugas lasting about 12000 years each, and between 2-Yugas there is a transition period at the beginning and end of each “Yuga” that varies from 400 to 100 years at each end of a “Yuga” depending on the "Yuga" in question. It takes two (2) such "Yuga" cycles (Descending and Ascending) to complete a full cycle-known as “Daiva Yuga”. Each of these periods of 12000 years brings a complete change, both externally in the material world, and internally in the intellectual level of humanity or electro-magnetic field of the world. Thus, in a period of 24000 years, the Sun completes the revolution around its dual and completes a cycle consisting of 12000 years in an ascending and 12000 years in a descending arc. The world, at present, is going through the transition phase from the tail-end of the ascending "Kali Yuga" or "Iron Age" to the start of "Dwapara Yuga" or "Bronze Age". "Satya Yuga" or "Golden Age" lasts about 4000 years with 400 years of transition period at each end from "Satya Yugo" to "Treta Yugo" or "Silver Age". when the position of the Sun in its revolution round comes to the place nearest to this grand center, the seat of “Brahman”, “Dharma”, the mental virtue becomes so overwhelming that humanity can easily comprehend all, even the mysteries of our existence or in other words the position of the Sun with its planets and Moons influences the human physic in such a way where human spirituality can easily overtake the "Maya" or "Ego."

The cyclical paradigm... One thing I keep wondering about is how perhaps this is expressed by Euler's formula: exp(it) = cos(t) + i sin(t) Something in the transcendental is moving forward in time (it) but its material (visible) projection is endlessly repeating cycles (cos(t)).
the yuga of the Copper Age, sounds like the Lord of the Rings era, in the sense that soul and ego are becoming enmeshed. the heroes have healthy souls and are able to battle the evil egos of the nasty wizards... yes I realize this is fiction, but it has a metaphorical appeal...I caught the "two towers" reference.

Reincarnation is a stretch. From my observation, Witnessing 'past lives' is simply experiences that others have had in the 'past'. There is no reason to recycle, as that indicates further separation. All is one, Soul is God within us, so ergo we all have the same soul. The ego's true purpose is to allow survival at this density until the spark within is realised. That's it. No recycled whack jobs, no recycled lovers, ZERO, as It/God is all.
Like getting lost in the moment when creating a painting for example...time stops, the outside world doesn't exist. Yes, I agree...have a specific question though. In that moment does the body- therefore cells, continue to age?

Consciousness and the dream state: perhaps the derivation of "ego" comes from the various levels of consciousness that exist? Sleep states provide different degrees of wakefulness - travel within these varying states causes forms to arise, experiences to be shared which are separate from other levels of wakefulness. The shared levels of collective consciousness - are then not unified experiences, but differ depending on the state of consciousness being retrieved or experienced. So then, "ego" is simply this aspect of consciousness which is experienced separate to the whole, but no less "valid" or true than others. I have yet to meet anyone who clearly defines what "ego" is. They just throw it out as though it's a clearly defined and well understood phenomena.
I cannot understand why the Vedic books give us million of years and say that the end time is still 4 million years away etc.... does not make sense... also I doubt the Vedic times used years..

That direct evidence should override whatever stories you have heard about the length of kali yuga. If you investigate the subject, you will discover that Hinduism is not monolithic. It contains many sects and they disagree on many points, including the length of the yugas and even their order of appearance in the kalpa. In the perspective of some sages, none of the estimates is accurate. In fact, the purpose of their appearance is to provide “red herrings” (misleading clues) in this cosmic detective drama. That is in order to make it more difficult to figure out what is really happening. To have an accurate sense of the implicate order that is unfolding in time, one must be attuned to the Supreme Self, and not depend on reading the texts of human gurus. I've heard different versions of where we are in the cycle. Traditionally, the sadgurus alive today have been known to say we are only at the beginning of Kali Yuga, which means we have 1200 years to go, with it getting far worse. Sadhguru of Isha Foundation in Tamil Nadu wrote an article a few years ago (2017?) saying we are actually in Dvapar Yuga, which he says began at the time of Christ. What scripture specifies the timeline in a way that we can reference our current time and pinpoint where we are in the cycle?
The imminent threat of nuclear war pretty much pinpoints us to the very end of the Kali Yuga. Supposedly Christ's Rapture and the End Times War precurses the turning of the cycle to a new Golden Era, the Millenial Reign of Christ and an Eternity with God for all those who trust in Him.

We are witnessing the end of the Kali Yuga. Between now and 2030 it will end. The dance of Kali will stop mid step....... and a moment of silence..... then the great purification begins.. Everything that is of the Kali Yuga will be swept aside. New wine cannot be placed into old skins. Then and only then can the Ascending Dwapara Yuga begin, and the gradual returning of the Light.

First it seems you build meditation into your life, then you build your life around the meditative state. Silent, non doing is the Self.

the yuga of the Copper Age, sounds like the Lord of the Rings era, in the sense that soul and ego are becoming enmeshed. the heroes have healthy souls and are able to battle the evil egos of the nasty wizards... yes I realize this is fiction, but it has a metaphorical appeal...I caught the "two towers" reference.

I'm just curious, as we as humanity are in Kali Yuga, I guess other alien civilizations are in a different phase of cycle of ages, or are they in a different cycle? Can a civilization break free from their own cycle of the ages...?
If you go back to the original writings and understand the original symbolism before Greek and Roman distorted useages, you know truth! We are the now! We are everything! Merge into Self. Do not fear or worship any outside force because you are everywhere and everything already. Listen to the trees.

Reincarnation is a stretch. From my observation, Witnessing 'past lives' is simply experiences that others have had in the 'past'. There is no reason to recycle, as that indicates further separation. All is one, Soul is God within us, so ergo we all have the same soul. The ego's true purpose is to allow survival at this density until the spark within is realised. That's it. No recycled whack jobs, no recycled lovers, ZERO, as It/God is all.
I would have really liked to go to your ashram in Costa Rica, 2022 seems like that will never happen now.
Like getting lost in the moment when creating a painting for example...time stops, the outside world doesn't exist. Yes, I agree...have a specific question though. In that moment does the body- therefore cells, continue to age?

Consciousness and the dream state: perhaps the derivation of "ego" comes from the various levels of consciousness that exist? Sleep states provide different degrees of wakefulness - travel within these varying states causes forms to arise, experiences to be shared which are separate from other levels of wakefulness. The shared levels of collective consciousness - are then not unified experiences, but differ depending on the state of consciousness being retrieved or experienced. So then, "ego" is simply this aspect of consciousness which is experienced separate to the whole, but no less "valid" or true than others. I have yet to meet anyone who clearly defines what "ego" is. They just throw it out as though it's a clearly defined and well understood phenomena.
I cannot understand why the Vedic books give us million of years and say that the end time is still 4 million years away etc.... does not make sense... also I doubt the Vedic times used years..

Dear Avi:
Look around you. Can you not perceive the imminence of global destruction? That direct evidence should override whatever stories you have heard about the length of kali yuga. If you investigate the subject, you will discover that Hinduism is not monolithic. It contains many sects and they disagree on many points, including the length of the yugas and even their order of appearance in the kalpa. In the perspective of some sages, none of the estimates is accurate. In fact, the purpose of their appearance is to provide “red herrings” (misleading clues) in this cosmic detective drama. That is in order to make it more difficult to figure out what is really happening. To have an accurate sense of the implicate order that is unfolding in time, one must be attuned to the Supreme Self, and not depend on reading the texts of human gurus. So don’t depend on this perspective either. Discover the Truth for yourself in deep meditation. Blessings.

I've heard different versions of where we are in the cycle. Traditionally, the sadgurus alive today have been known to say we are only at the beginning of Kali Yuga, which means we have 1200 years to go, with it getting far worse. Sadhguru of Isha Foundation in Tamil Nadu wrote an article a few years ago (2017?) saying we are actually in Dvapar Yuga, which he says began at the time of Christ. What scripture specifies the timeline in a way that we can reference our current time and pinpoint where we are in the cycle?
The imminent threat of nuclear war pretty much pinpoints us to the very end of the Kali Yuga. Supposedly Christ's Rapture and the End Times War precurses the turning of the cycle to a new Golden Era, the Millenial Reign of Christ and an Eternity with God for all those who trust in Him.
Dear Shunyamurti, I have a question. I understand of your satsangs that Kali Yoga is ending. Did I understand that correctly? Because other sources tell we are just starting in Kali Yoga. I hope you can help me clear it up. Thank you so much for your teachings 🙏 Miriam

We are witnessing the end of the Kali Yuga. Between now and 2030 it will end.
The dance of Kali will stop mid step....... and a moment of silence..... then the great purification begins..
Everything that is of the Kali Yuga will be swept aside. New wine cannot be placed into old skins.
Then and only then can the Ascending Dwapara Yuga begin, and the gradual returning of the Light.
