Dogma could very well be the perfect movie. Tarantino esque Dialogue ✅ thought provoking themes ✅ brilliant characters ✅ pacing ✅ comedy ✅ serious undertones ✅ memorable scenes ✅ suspense ✅ acting ✅ emotional elements ✅ great music ✅ cinematography ✅ jay and silent bob ✅ effortless diversity ✅ Alan Rickman ✅ special effects ✅ violence ✅ excessive profanity and dark humour ✅Powerful message ✅

It's a shame chris rock doesn't do more work like dogma, all of his standup and other movies he feels the need to yell about racial injustices. His shtick isn't funny, he's much more interesting when he's just chilling

  • @jamiefrontiera1671

Chris Rock is is right about being offended by this movie is a lack of faith in God. There is nothing that someone can say that will shake my faith in God. Because of that if you make a funny joke about God, and its funny. I will laugh, and so what it's funny. And this is also speaking as a catholic. Technically it makes fun of all Christians, not just catholics, but especially catholics. The best line is from muse saying you should celebrate your faith and criticizing catholics as mourning their faith. And I couldn't disagree, there is a certain serious and sedate nature in catholic mass. (Not saying all catholics churches I once went to a catholic church at Easter that was primarily a Vietnamese population, where they created a paper mache Jesus to resurrect with party poppers and streamers going off. And BTW the priest smiled and said that was the best one yet. I loved it, but many churches just don't get that much energy for easter)

I know it's a joke, but the concept of an alternate version of Dogma with Samuel L. Jackson instead of Chris Rock is pretty interesting. Not that Chris was not great in it, just the tone difference between having Chris Rock compared to Sam Jackson for he same character.
Oh, and Chris' argument is one of my favourite religious argument of all time. God is All-Powerful, if He is God, God don't give no fucks about someone making fun of him. He is not so pathetic and insecure that He needs some random assholes defending Him from other random assholes making fun of Him. You think I care about what some random ant says about me to some other ant? You think I need some other, random, third ant, defending me.

Jesus wasn't white. He wasn't black, either. He was a Sephardic Jew. There shouldn't be anything controversial about saying this. Arguing over his racial identity is demented.
