Dude as per AWS D1.1 u need to set the height of the reference reflector between 40% to 60% screen height for an angle beam testing and that for a Zero degree inspection for the lamination chech should be between 50% to 70% screen height..Bcz based on the procedure you will be adding a very high gains above the reference gain and hence for an angle beam testing with AWS procedure its better to peak the reflector signal between 40% to 60% screen height in order to avoid signal saturation due to a very high scanning gain
Not exact some clients ask to set 80 % SH for angle beam inspection then should be add minimum 14 dB of the yours reference dB level and it's dependence up one the matal path value..
