What a beauty he is. You going to bring her to tears with this one. You can see in his eye how much he loved her and only wanted to please her. God bless
Hi Carol Ferguson ~ Thank you, such a lovely compliment! She is picking it up tomorrow and I hope she'll be pleased, he was a pleasure to paint. He really did try to please her and I think he succeeded! Thanks again! :)) Roby
Hi Anna ~ That's great! Our family raised Quarter horses many years ago, I love them so much - love all horses! Thanks for stopping by with your nice comment! :)) Roby
Hey Brenda! Hope you're getting a great start to the weekend! Thank you very much for another lovely compliment, you're the best! Happy painting! :)) Roby
So happy to see a new video. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy watching you work. Inspiring!! (And your background music is sublime) Thankyou xx
Hi Dawn! Thank you so much! I'm so glad that you enjoy my little videos, sweet!! I appreciate you taking the time to comment and for supporting my efforts. :)) Roby xoxoxo
Interesting how such a small portrait can speak so bold and bust out of its borders with life ! Well done !!! Enjoyed this video on this gorgeous animal. You did this equine honor in your work !
Hello Tracy ~ What a lovely compliment you have given me! Thank you so very much for taking the time to watch and give such a positive comment. I sincerely appreciate this so much. Happy New Year to you! :)) Roby fyi, I just posted a new Quarter horse pastel painting video yesterday, check it out! :))
Hello Don ~ Thank you very much! I say there's no time like the present, might as well just jump in! That's how to learn, trial and error as we've all been there and you have to start somewhere. Don't be afraid or you'll never do it! Good luck and most of all have fun. :)) Roby
Wonderful video. This is the second one I have seen. One was a horses eye. Loved it. I am a acrylic painter but when I watch these I feel like getting a set of pastels to give it a try.
This is beautiful. I like the glossy fur and shiny eye. Thank you so much for your wonderfull videos, I learned a lot from them. Kind regards from Germany.
Hello Heiner Gebhardt ~ Thank you for the nice compliments! I'm so glad that my little video's are of help to you, that's so wonderful! Thanks for taking the time to comment and support, means a lot! :)) Roby
Hello Leontine van vliet ~ Thank you so much. That's awesome that you jumped into pastels because of my videos! I appreciate you taking the time to view and comment, wonderful! :)) Roby
Fantastic!!! I love every single one of your beautiful pastel paintings. You are fantastic! Inside and out and all the way to the magical hand that puts everything together on paper. Thank you for always sharing. You are very special to me.
Kimbearly...you are very special to me! You're the quintessential praise giver and down right generous person! You're always so nice and positive and I want you to know that I consider you very special too. You are talented off the charts and I love your little darling hand made bears and bunnies always giving back never taking! Enormous hugs are hurling toward you, hope you feel them! Thank you so much! :)) Roby
Oh my gosh. Did I feel them? YES! Thank you so much. Your kind words mean the world to me. You my friend are like an ANGEL on Earth. The sweetest most kind person I know. It comes out in your art too. More importantly it is straight from your wonderful heart. May all the blessings you stand in need of, come to pass. You deserve each and every one. XOOXXOXXOX Much love sent your way.
What to say to you for such beautiful words except a very heartfelt thank you Kimbearly! If you're ever out in California I hope you'll come by to say hello, would be fantastic! I wish you all of the same and keep creating your wonderful work. Your friend, Roby :)) XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
Holy Buckets! So very beautiful, Roby! I've learned so much watching you layer those colors of the pastel pencils to achieve the vibrancy and life in your animal portraits! A pleasure to watch and learn from your videos, thank you!
Hi Shellley ~ Holy Buckets, cracked me up! Thank you so much for this great comment. I'm thrilled that you've learned from my videos and that I've been helpful. Thanks again for your support and for taking the time to comment. :)) Roby
Hello Kharmagain ~ Thank you very much! You're welcome for the listing of the numbers, it's not a problem. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, if I know the answer I'd be happy to share it. Thanks again! :)) Roby
While you were painting i was reading all the comments. when i scrolled up to look at the painting, which you are still working on, I agree with all the compliments you have received. It is absolutely amazing! Would love the reference picture as I would like to follow along with you. Thanks for being such an inspiration.
Hi Simmy Mac ~ That is so nice of you, thank you! I've been adding my reference photo to the new videos at the beginning. Thank you so much for stopping by and for your support, wonderful! :)) Roby
Hello Artbee! You're welcome but the thanks are mine for you being loyal to my channel, that's wonderful, so glad that you're enjoying my videos! :)) Roby
Hello Joy, thank you very much! I don't use any fixatives. If you can't frame it glassine sheets work really well to protect them. Thanks for stopping by! :)) Roby
As always this is amazing. Thanks to you I am now trying even more with the pastels, I have a set of Carb Othello and Faber castle pitt. I love the way you coax the medium into doing what you want and the shine you are able to get from such a dull medium. I really am learning a lot from watching you and trying some of your pictures as practise pieces, I hope you don't mind. Thank you for sharing your wonderful work and knowledge. I am finding my usual oils a bit limiting now lol
Hi Diane! Thank you so very much, how sweet of you. I must say that I love getting such wonderful comments as yours, what a way to start my Birthday today!! :) I love that my little videos can be of help to so many! I never thought that sharing what I do would turn out so positive here on RUclips. So glad that I made that decision. I don't mind at all that you practice, in fact I love it! Just as long as no one is selling the finished product it's just fine!!!! Thanks again for taking the time to comment and for your wonderfully positive feedback! :)) Roby
Happy Birthday, I hope you have a wonderful day. There is no one that would be able to sell my practice pieces as I keep them to myself lol. I know I speak for hundreds of other people when I say we are all glad that you made the decision to post your work on here. I could easily spend all day watching you and not get any of my own work done lol :-)
Awww, thanks for the Birthday wishes and again all of the kind compliments, it's so wonderful Diane! If you ever have any questions don't hesitate to ask, if I know the answer I'll share it. Hugs! Roby
Your paintings are beautiful. This was my first video and my God you are so talented. Your paintings are so beautiful. I want all your horse paintings. Definitely a subscriber. Going to watch more.
Hello to my great friend from Poland! Thank you so much, tell me...what specifically did you learn from this video, just curious lol? Your artwork is wonderful and I can't imagine you picking anything up from my work. Thanks for stopping by! Your friend from sunny CA. :)) Roby
Dear Roby. Even when you do not publish new videos, I always watch these older ones from time to time. As you know, my style of using pastel looks like a saber cuts and this is a bit chaotic and disordered, but that's what I am. On your films I always admire the order and harmony in your paintins and the great delicacy in choosing and applying colors. Just in this way I learn how to be a more professional amateur :)
Such a lovely, lovely comment, I am humbled by your generous compliments. Your style is wonderful and as you stated we all have our own style. We wouldn't want to completely copy someone else's style anyway! A true artist lets it flow out. I know that I'm tight, my dishes and glasses are perfect in the cupboards but I like order... in my cupboards anyway lol. Art is always changing and learning at the same time it's always the same colors but finding ways to make them work differently!! Your art journey has been very good to you and you should be very proud of your accomplishments. I appreciate our friendship, it means a great deal to be connected with a great artist from around our little globe. Wishing you all of the very best mrfour a professional artist for sure!! :)
Thank you for your very kind words, Roby, and I appreciate that you understand my very poor English. I also invite you to watch my latest video on RUclips and leave a comment :)
Hi eleatherman 1 ~ lol, good I'm glad that you like the music! I don't have many choices that are long to match my videos that are copyright free. I end up having to use the same music for them. Glad you approve! :)) Roby
Outstanding work as usual Roby, I am in awe as to the techniques you use to achieve such a look of high gloss on the horse. So difficult, unfortunately I always feel so poor in comparison when I go back to my work. But, practice is the key I am sure. I would love you to do some slower exercises to show us exactly how to use our crayons with the pencils, that would be great.
Hi Andrew! Thank you very much! You're right, it boils down to practice, that's the key as with anything you want to become proficient at. Do you have a specific question that I could help you with? For the shine it's a matter of light against darker tones, those contrasts make the shine pop out. I'm certainly not a teacher but if know the answer I'd be happy to share it! Thank you so much for stopping by and for the lovely compliment. :)) Roby
Hi roby. Another triumph!!! Your painting's are so beautiful and again this one is stunning! The background really pushes the horse forward. I've thought about using black and lost my bottle everytime. I love the way you softened it out round the edges. You have a perfect eye roby. :)
Hello Lee! Aw, thank you so much! You are so generous with your compliments! I like to use different backgrounds depending on the project and this one was calling dark to me. Hahaha, lost your bottle, that's a good one! :) You must try, don't be afraid to fail, we ALL have one (or more) time or another. Pull out a practice paper and give it a try, not as hard as you think. Will be in touch very soon. :)) Always, Roby
I saw many pastel drawing before, this drawing is one of the best Roby, Great work... I really enjoyed watching. I search in the comments for the patel type and founded, coz I know many already asked you :)
Hello Belal Kamel ~ Aw, thank you Belal very much! I'm glad that you like my work. Yeah, I meant to put the materials is the description up top but I admit that I like to talk with other artists lol. Thank you for taking the time to comment and to watch. :)) Roby
Your work is beautiful and I like the fact that even though it's speeded up it is slow enough to let us really see what you are doing. Some art videos out there are so speeded up that it's a joke. Why even bother? But yours is just right. The only suggestion I have is that you at some point tell us what surface and materials you're using rather than having to ask you & look through the comments for it. Also if we could see the reference photo at the beginning that would help to see how you interpreted it. Thanks!:-)
Hi Gloria ~ Thank you very much for your lovely comment. I'm glad that you liked it and the speed. The filming is hours long so I had to edit and pick a speed that fit within my limits on RUclips but wasn't too fast. I'm really only posting because I wanted to share what it is that I love doing, I'm not a teacher at all. It kinda evolved and then I was asked for more and more. I certainly will take into consideration your suggestion but I must admit that I do love having the interaction with the questions too! Fortunately you only had to read down two comments for some information lol! I have started to add my reference photo at the beginning. Thanks again! :)) Roby
Roby Baer Thank you. It's a shame you don't do tutorials or voiceovers with your videos. With your amazing talent you have so much knowledge to share! God bless.
gloria, in case you didn't know, you have the options to enjoy "fast" videos by going to the tool icon and changing the speed to allow for more instructional following..
Love your work and view at least o,e everyday and I learn something every time. Love your horses. Can you do a demonstration of a dappled horse. My buckski and palamino both have dapples
Hello Peggy ~ Thank you for your lovely compliment, I appreciate that. I will definitely keep your request in mind. I will be launching a "Teachables" this year so stay tuned. Thanks for stopping by. :)) Roby
Roby Thanks for wonderful demo. it is a pleasure to watch you beautiful arts. I just wanted to know if you use any fixative on your art works if you do what brand please. Thanks again. Love your works.
Hello Ghobbad sassanie ~ You're very welcome! I don't use any fixatives because I don't like the little dots left behind and it darkens your work. Also, it erases white highlights as well. If you can't frame them right away use Glassine sleeves, they work great for storing or shipping unframed pastels. Thank you for stopping by with your lovely compliment. :)) Roby
He is such a gorgeous boy and I must say that you keep him perfectly groomed. He always looks wonderful. I know that it takes a lot of grooming on collies as I used to be a groomer for many years. He sure was popular on fb yey!!!! :)) Roby
Ooh thank you a lot! :))) I love him so much so i love grooming and take care of him, so it's more easier and pleasant for me to groom him than for other groomers who must groom somebodies' dogs :) To tell the truth in our country there are only a few groomers, but I can't trust them, 'cause they aren't such skilled, so I prefer to groom my dog on my own and every day I am learning a new grooming tips for collies to do this job better :)) Thanks once again!
Hello, I am from Iraq, I am a teacher, I studied Fine Arts, I admire your drawing and I wish you success and continuous progress, my greetings to you. I would like to give some explanation of wood colors and used paper
Hello Mohammed from Iraq! Thank you so very much for your lovely compliments. I'd be happy to share my materials. I'm using Strathmore Illustration/Bristol Board 500 series cold press Vellum 10 ply. I'm sure in your class you could use any of the Bristol's and they would be excellent for student's. Using a great quality of paper is very important especially for students as you want success not frustration with a paper. I'm using CarbOthello pastel pencils in combination with soft pastel sticks. Some of my favorite brands of soft pastels are Rembrandt, Sennelier, Unison and Schmincke to name just a few. Using student grade pastels are also frustrating and if you can Rembrandts would be great! Good luck and thanks again! :)) Roby
wow. This was recommended to me on RUclips all on its own. Cant say Im disappointed that it did. If you dont mind my asking, what medium were you using? I thought it might be Faber Castel pencils and a few times I noticed the white oil pastel piece and maybe the blending pencil and a white pastel pencil?
Hello Vet4FallujahCJ ~ Thank you! I'm so glad that you enjoyed my video, wonderful! I am using CarbOthello Pastel pencils in combination with soft stick pastels. No oil pastels all CarbOthello pastel pencils. I use the pencils to blend one color over the top of the next until I achieve the look I'm after. My paper of choice is Strathmore Illustration/Bristol board 500 series cold press Vellum 10 ply. It has the perfect tooth for my style. Thank you so much for stopping by with your lovely comment. :)) Roby
Hi Phyllis, thank you! I'm using CarbOthello pastel pencils in combination with soft stick pastels. I'll give you a link for the pencils. Thanks so much! :)) Roby www.dickblick.com/products/stabilo-carbothello-pastel-pencils/
Hi Lillie Belle ! Thank you, that is such a lovely thing to say! My pencils are CarbOthello pastel pencils. Some of my favorite brands of sticks are Rembrandt, Sennelier, Unison and the buttery soft Schmincke. I start with the hard pastels first and Rembrandt is my go to especially since my husband bought me a very large set years ago. I use the Schmincke last as it's so soft and I don't "pile it on" thick layers in my style of painting. Good luck and have fun! :)) Roby
Thank you for answering my question! I will research those brands further... Today I ran by Hobby Lobby and just grabbed some very cheep basic sets, so I can get myself started. I figured I had better try my hand at it first and see if I even like this medium... I am totally HOOKED!! I really want to try the Unison for softs. I have been looking for a good quality hard pencil brand. I will check out CarbOthello. I had never even heard of Schmincke, I will have to research them further too! Thanks again for being such an inspiration!! God bless...
You're welcome. Just a couple of notes... It's been my experience that if you choose the "cheep" brands you'll get frustrated, they just aren't the same feel. If Hobby Lobby has a small set of Rembrandts GET THEM! As I said I start all of my paintings with the Rembrandts as I work hard to soft. Google the Carbothellos, they're one of the top brands for pastel pencils and they fit very well into the electric sharpeners. Also, keep an eye out on eBay for used sets of pastels. You can find some good deals there. Good luck and if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask. Have fun! :) Roby
I absolutely love your work, Ruby. I could watch you draw for hours. 👌🏻 Could you please tell me which sharpener/sharpeners you use? I have tried so many, yet I’m still unable to get a nice point..and manually with a Stanley knife, I end up wasting so much.
Hi Gemma ~ Thank you, so glad that you're enjoy my artwork. Actually, it's Roby not Ruby :). I am using the X-Acto Powerhouse electric. I'll give you the link where I purchase them. I've used them for years and they've always worked very well for me. You'll need an awl to dig out the points that sometimes break off and get stuck inside. When the sharpener consistently breaks the tips off it's time for a new one. They last a good long time though. I don't sharpen anything else in it just the pastel pencils. When I retire it from the pastels it will still work fine for graphite. Once you do the initial sharpen you'll only need to leave the pencil in for about 1-2 seconds! Thanks so much for stopping by. :)) Roby www.officedepot.com/a/products/595511/X-ACTO-Powerhouse-Electric-Pencil-Sharpener/
@@robertarobybaer So sorry, it will have been autocorrected by my phone, and during another insomnia session, I was busy watching your videos lol. Might as well make good use of the time I can't sleep. Thank you so much. I honestly have 14 different sharpeners, and not one is of any use. Even dedicated pastel pencils. I'm ordering now! :) It's frustrating as due to not have a neat point, blending just gets messy, and details are never as clean. The shine/highlights and shading you do, is just wonderful. Your pieces are so rich in depth and vibrancy. My blunt ends can often leave too much pastel, losing the pastelmat's tooth, and leaving me feeling they're not up to my usual details. I also follow you FB page...definitely an artist that inspires me. Have a wonderful week! :)
Hehe, no worries at all! Auto correct is sometimes a pain in the *** but it's a good thing too! The biggest problem with sharpeners it that the blades get dull. Once that happens it's over for sharpening pastel pencils. Also, if the pencil has been dropped the pastel inside breaks and that will ruin it for sharpening too. Be sure to hold the pencil very straight, that too makes a difference. I think you'll like this sharpener, I love it! We used to have a Office Max here in our town but it's gone now but if you should happen to have one you can buy the warranty for under $10 and simply return it for a new one when the blades get dull. Thank you for all of your lovely compliments, that's so nice of you!! Your artist friend, Roby
@@robertarobybaer Yep, sharpeners are the bane of my life, and create a war in my mind of self-doubt, and feeling like I have forgotten how to draw. I often start well, get half way through and lose my confidence. I think I tend to 'wing it', sometimes. I look back at old pieces and wonder how I gt that looking the way it does, and trying to work out why I don't feel the current one is up to scratch. I definitely feel it's mostly down to blunt pencils. Sadly, being in the UK, the only places I can find that have that sharpener, are in the USA. I'm going to get one ordered when the money comes in for my latest catastrophe lol. I'm sure I'll 'wing it' again, eventually lol. Have a fantastic week, I can't thank you enough for your advice and your wonderful videos that I play on repeat lol! :)
I forgot. It looks to me that you are what I'd call 'burnishing' with the lighter shades, creams, pale blues, peaches ect, that I do with coloured pencils, not my pastels. Particularly to make the highlights pop, but it also seems to give depth and creates lovely blends. Is that correct?
that's a beautiful horse ! are you ever thinking about sell your " real time " videos ? I like hoe you blend with colours instead using a blending tools
Hello Adrian Gonzales ~ Thank you! My real time videos are way to long and would be very redundant. I try to put in the most important parts. I'm not trying to make any money with the vidoes but simply sharing my passion. I'm not a teacher at all but a lover of art! Thank you so much for your interest! :)) Roby
what a beautiful horse !💕💕😍 I hope you answear me 🙏 How can we use these colors in a perfect way to make it look smoth and steady ? Is it how to press the colors on paper ..or maybe the way we move our fingers .,, 🤔 also can I use any mudim for that purpise like water ? is canvas good to work on instead of paper ? -Tanks alot for sharing your art
Hello again Hana ~ Thank you for your nice compliments! With the pastel pencils my style is to put down a color then go over the first color with the next color pressing fairly hard so they both blend in together and I do this over and over. I keep adding and blending until l reach the colors and effect I want. I think the mistake most beginners make with these pencils is not pressing hard enough. I also use my finger to blend in the pastel sticks. Once you use the pencils over the pastel sticks you can't really use your finger to smudge anymore. The pencils are a different consistency and will rub right off if you try to blend them with your finger. I'm not sure about your question about "any medium for that purpose like water". Maybe you can clarify. I don't use canvas for my pastels, only for my oil painting. You have to practice to find what's right for you. There is no magic way other than to practice. You have to pay what I call artist dues and that all boils down to practicing. If you have the passion and love for it you will get better and better. I'm going to give you links to my favorite supplies. Hope this helps you! :)) Robywww.officedepot.com/a/products/595511/X-ACTO-Powerhouse-Electric-Pencil-Sharpener/www.dickblick.com/products/stabilo-carbothello-pastel-pencils/www.dickblick.com/products/strathmore-500-series-illustration-board/
This is absolutely beautiful and I agree with lots of the other comments. Are you using clairfontaine pastel mat? Do you spray fixative when you finished if so what type of fixative do you use? I have just purchased some faber castell pitt pastels so I'm eager to get going with them. Xx
Hi Connie! Thank you for your nice compliment. I am using Strathmore Illustration/Bristol board 500 series cold press Vellum 10 ply. I don't spray as I don't like the little dots and it erases white highlights too. A lot of artists do use fixatives in their process but I choose not to. If you do want to use them by sure to do your homework and make sure they're archival quality. I'm using CarbOthello pastel pencils in combination with soft stick pastels such as Rembrandt, Unison, Sennelier and Schmincke to name a few. Good luck and have fun! :)) Roby
Roby Baer thank you so much for coming back to me So promptly I really appreciate it. I am loving your videos. I'm working through them one by one. You are an amazing artist. Thank you.
Thank you very much for your interest, sweet! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me. If I know the answer I'll share. Take care and thanks again! :)) Roby
Just mesmerizing watching him come to life!!! Do you mind my asking what colors you are using? This is my favorite color horse and I struggle every time and have not achieved what I'm looking for. Thank you in advance.
Hi Cindy, thank you! No I don't mind giving you the colors at all. The stick soft pastel is Rembrandt burnt sienna #411.5. The CarbOthello pastels pencil #'s, light yellow #105, orange #215, yellow/orange #680 and sienna #645. Good luck and have fun! Thanks for stopping by. :)) Roby
Hello Ee Ni Hoo ~ Thank you for the sub, now nice of you and I appreciate that! I hope that you will enjoy your trying pastels with my favorite CarbOthello pastel pencils. Some of my favorite stick pastels are Rembrandt, Sennelier, Unnison and Schmincke to name a few. Good luck and have fun! :)) Roby
Hi wendy hepting ~ Aw, thank you so much! I appreciate your support and I'm so glad that you learn from them too. My paper is Strathmore Illustration/Bristol Board 500 series cold press Vellum 10 ply. I'll give you the link for it. Thanks again! :)) Roby www.dickblick.com/items/13305-1002/

Hi Belinda ~ Thank you so much! I'm so glad that you've learned by watching, sweet! I'm using the X-Acto Powerhouse electric and I purchase them from Office Max. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. :)) Roby
No, not at all but there is a learning curve. After the initial sharpen of a new pencil you only need to leave the pencil in for about 1-2 seconds with a new sharpener. As the blades become more dull over time you'll of course need to leave the pencil in longer. As soon as the sharpener consistently breaks the tips off it's time for a new sharpener as the blades are too dull to do the job. It will still sharpen graphite pencils no problem though. I love how fast I can get back to work with a great new point with the electric! Hand sharpening is fine to but I choose to zip right back to work fast. :)) Roby
Roby Baer wish you would be on Patreon giving voice over tutorials.. i bet you would do really well.. alot of is follow you. We could follow along with you.. and you'd be getting compensated... :-)
I sure don't mind sharing what I have learned but I'm not a teacher at all! :) I'll keep it on the back burner lol. Thank you so much for your kindness. Roby
Can u take a picture of the all colors u used to do this? I wanna made this painting for my dad’s 58 birthday.. and i never draw with pastels... i’m lost... i go to buy tomorrow de materials
Hi Vitoria ~ You can see the colors in the video but I can give you the name of my brands. I'm using CarbOthello pastel pencils in combination with soft stick pastels. Some of my favorite brands are Rembrandt, Unison, Sennelier and Schmincke. My paper is Strathmore Illustration/Bristol Board 500 series cold press vellum 10 ply. I haven't added any other colors other than what you see in this video. I hope this helps you! :)) Roby

Just fantastic! I'm nowhere near this point or even ready for pastels but this looks like so much fun and looks great! Thanks Roby!
Hello Don ~ Thank you very much! I say there's no time like the present, might as well just jump in! That's how to learn, trial and error as we've all been there and you have to start somewhere. Don't be afraid or you'll never do it! Good luck and most of all have fun. :)) Roby
Absolutely amazing, I loved watching your process! Your skill of shadow and light is superb.
Dang, I think I missed your lovely compliment! A little late but thank you so much! :)) Roby
I too love watching you work. You make something so difficult look so easy.
Hi Kerry B ~ Thank you so much, I'm so appreciative of your time and support! :)) Roby
And so - another noble animal comes to life - under the sure and loving hand of a master. Spell binding!!!!!
Hi dreamikins ~ Wow, what a fantastic comment, how awesome! Thank you so very much. :)) Roby
Wonderful video. This is the second one I have seen. One was a horses eye. Loved it. I am a acrylic painter but when I watch these I feel like getting a set of pastels to give it a try.
Hi Pamela ~ Thank you! Give the pastels a try, they might be a great fit for you. Thanks again! :)) Roby
Brilliant Piece of Artwork from a truly gifted Artist.

I love watching this. It makes me want to pastel some animal portraits.
:)) Roby

Hello Carol ~ Thank you so very much for this lovely compliment, so much appreciated!
:)) Roby

Thank you for sharing this. I found you a couple of years ago and I'm still a fan of your work :)
Hello Artbee! You're welcome but the thanks are mine for you being loyal to my channel, that's wonderful, so glad that you're enjoying my videos! :)) Roby
Hi Robey wonderfull painting loved it do use a fixative thank you watching you do pastels gives a good feeling
Hugs! Roby
Thank you Roby, I really appreciate your help and advice, big hugs xx
Bonjour Roby Magnifique quel talent 🍀
Hello @elianeattouche8661 ~ Thank you very much! :)) Roby
Your paintings are beautiful. This was my first video and my God you are so talented. Your paintings are so beautiful. I want all your horse paintings. Definitely a subscriber. Going to watch more.
Brilliant exquisite masterpiece!!!
Hello mansalnahk ~ Thank you very much, I appreciate your great comment! :)) Roby
Hi Roby.I love watching your videos because I can always learn something new. Greetings for the Master from Poland
Very much enjoyed your video! BTW your English if fine!
i love your art work! It looks so soft! I have never tried pastels. I will now.
Hi Wilma ~ Thank you very much! So glad you're going to give pastels a try, good luck and have fun! :)) Roby
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Hello Sue ~ Thank you so very much! :)) Roby
I would like to add that I, too, am loving your background music as so many videos are ruined by theirs.
Hi eleatherman 1 ~ lol, good I'm glad that you like the music! I don't have many choices that are long to match my videos that are copyright free. I end up having to use the same music for them. Glad you approve! :)) Roby
Hey roby. Just stopped by to get some pointers on my background. Your paintings are truly mesmerising. Absolutely beautiful. :)
Hey Lee! So glad you stopped by, always nice to hear from you. Hope you're getting George back the way he was, hang in there! Always, Roby
Wonderful work 👏👏👏
Hello Art Wal Alves ~ Thanks so much!
By George, you really did it. Can’t tell the difference between your drawing and a photograph.
Hello @tcng9808 ~ Thank you very much for your lovely compliment, so nice of you! :)) Roby
:)) Roby

wonderful roby
Hello Concetta ~ Thank you! Much appreciated. :)) Roby
Parabéns, magnífico extraordinário seu trabalho.👏👏👏👏
Hello Hamilton carmo ~ Thank you so much for your lovely comment, I appreciate that very much!
God bless.
Thank you Gloria, you're so complimentary! I appreciate you taking the time to comment and support my videos even though I don't talk lol. :)) Roby
gloria, in case you didn't know, you have the options to enjoy "fast" videos by going to the tool icon and changing the speed to allow for more instructional following..
you brought him to life!
Hello Katie Mayflower ~ Aw, that's so nice, thank you! :)) Roby
Che meraviglia, sei geniale
Hello Paolo Pontis ~ Well, what can I say but thank you again for your lovely comment! I sincerely appreciate your support! :)) Roby
:)) Roby
It's so magnificant! Your drawing are really amazing! :)
Hi Barbara! How's our beautiful boy Lord doing? Thank you for the nice compliment, thinking of you both! :)) Roby
Hi! ^_^ He is fine, thank you and how are you? It's so pleasant :)) I am amazed from your posts on fb
Super beau quel crayon que tu utilise merci

Hello! Thank you very much, that's a lovely compliment. :)) Roby
:)) Roby
Thank you thank you thankiuuuu!
Hello Romina Air ~ You're so welcome! So welcommmeeee! :)) Roby
Thank you.

Oh my goodness, God bless you too! :))
Eu amo muito a arte e os cavalos adorei este vídeo.
Hello Denize ~ Thank you very much for your lovely compliment! :)) Roby
Lindo. Adorei.obrigado
Hello Eunice Lazara ~ Thank you so very much for this lovely compliment! :)) Roby
:)) Roby
what type of pencils are you using? This is fabulous ....I will try this board for sure. Thank you for sharing your videos...just amazing
Hi Phyllis, thank you! I'm using CarbOthello pastel pencils in combination with soft stick pastels. I'll give you a link for the pencils. Thanks so much! :)) Roby www.dickblick.com/products/stabilo-carbothello-pastel-pencils/
Thank you...I will try these
You are an inspiration, for sure!! I too want to try my hand at pastels... what are your favorite brand names for softs and hards?
Could you please tell me which sharpener/sharpeners you use?
:)) Roby
Thank you Alan, I too want to paint a foal, hope I can sometime! :)) Roby
what a beautiful horse !💕💕😍
I hope you answear me 🙏
How can we use these colors in a perfect way to make it look smoth and steady ?
Is it how to press the colors on paper ..or maybe the way we move our fingers .,, 🤔
also can I use any mudim for that purpise like water ? is canvas good to work on instead of paper ?

Hello Haroldo ~ Thanks so much! :)) Roby
OBRIGADO- THANKS KKKK HAROLDO - BRASIL - PORTUGUES NON INGLES KKKK
Kool
Hello The Royal View ~ Thanks! :)) Roby
:)) Roby
Forgot one of the pencils, flesh #681. :)
Thank you !!!!!!!

I am new in pastel..
Hello Ee Ni Hoo ~ Thank you for the sub, now nice of you and I appreciate that! I hope that you will enjoy your trying pastels with my favorite CarbOthello pastel pencils. Some of my favorite brands of soft pastel sticks are Rembrandt, Sennelier, Unison and Schmincke to name a few. Thanks again :)) Robywww.dickblick.com/items/13305-1002/www.dickblick.com/products/stabilo-carbothello-pastel-pencils/

Hi Roby.. I absolutely love to watch your videos.. i have learned alot.. your artwork is stunning... what do you use to sharpen your pastel pencils?
Hi Belinda ~ Thank you so much! I'm so glad that you've learned by watching, sweet! I'm using the X-Acto Powerhouse electric and I purchase them from Office Max. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. :)) Roby
Roby Baer does it eat up the pencil alot?
Roby
