    Searched and Searched other videos for help with the tiger mid airfix kit and found it used Academy's design.
    The instructions were terrible at helping with this and it was my first tank model.
    Your video just gave me the information I needed to continue and not have it sit on a shelf after last night.
    Thank you very much for your detailed breakdown. High quality work here.

      Glad it helped you Titus, it's amazing how one brand of model will use the plastic from another. I bought a Paladin that was supposed to be a Tamiya kit, it was in a Tamiya box, only to find that it was an Italeri kit boxed by Tamiya with figures included from Tamiya molds, funny how it works in the modeling world. Good luck with your Tiger my friend! Take care. Johnny

    Hi Johnny, You are making some great progress on your Tiger. Those Germans sure did like their road wheels! I'll be looking forward to the next update. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

    Hey Johnny! Great job done my friend! Typical German armour, wheels for days! You have knocked out a big portion of this build and faced every issue it had. I wish i knew the sprue goo back when i was building mine. Feifel filters had the same huge gaps in my build as well, so i left them off. I will be looking forward for the next episode! Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend!

      Thank you very much George! And you're right, the air ducts to the feifel filters do not fit well at all. But I think they will work out in the end. Thanks so much for tuning in, I really appreciate it my friend! Stay safe and model on! Johnny

    Hi my friend you doing a fantastic job on the tiger that’s one thing about them all the wheels looks like the fit is excellent are you doing the zimmerit yourself looking forward to seeing your next update thanks for sharing and keep safe 👍🙏

    • @hillbillymodeling
      @hillbillymodeling  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much Rob😀I've decided to go with the early arrival on the Eastern Front, Leningrad. Everybody does Zimmerit, but I think it was only applied from the factory from Aug. 1943 to Sept. 1944. I could be wrong on the dates but it was used little more than a year. If this was a Tiger with steel road wheels then it would be historically wrong to build without Zimmerit, because all of those tanks had it. Thanks for watching, model on. Johnny

    The interesting part about the real Tiger I road wheels is that the outer wheels you put on last were in fact designed to be removed and a hub put on in it's place. Even the track extensions were removable without disassembling the track. This was done for transport purposes.

      Hi Michael, I see that you are a Tiger fan. It was a beast of a tank, but the transmission was far too delicate for the weight of the vehicle. Thanks for watching, stay safe! Johnny

    Thanks. Regarding those tight poly caps on the 1st set of road wheels - I forced them in a bit with a round toothpick. This method seemed to put less stress on the arm. On the other hand the road wheel arms are rather stout and tend not to bend or buckle. I painted the tires before I installed the road wheels. Just sayin'.

    • @hillbillymodeling
      @hillbillymodeling  Год назад

      Hi Carl. Those poly caps are made of a much harder material than Tamiya's are. I just left them on rather than risk breaking something. Thanks for watching my friend, take care. Johnny

    Too cool Johnny, I just happen to be doing the Tamiya version of the same kit right now! I'm curious are you going to use the kit tracks?I am ditching the rubber on mine and ordered the resin Tankraft ones. Yes that is a weld seam on the front of the hull. Looking great, following along and eagerly awaiting part 2. Cheers Trey

      @hillbillymodeling  2 года назад +1

      Hi Treyz, thanks for commenting. And yes, like you, I'm replacing the tracks. You could probably get away with the rubber band ones, but there are too many good options out there to have your build suffer that, lol. Good luck with your Tamiya kit, they are really nice kits, and model on my friend! Johnny

    Hello from England. I'm new to your channel and have not yet built any armour. My passion from an amateur standpoint is WWII aircraft particularly Battle of Britain. However I am fascinated by tanks and am determined to build a couple AFTER I have experimented with a few 1/72 "cheapies". Your relaxed style really holds my interest and so my build mentality is growing. Thank you, and pray continue.

      Hi Norman, thanks so much for joining me on the channel, I really appreciate it my friend. Modeling should be fun and relaxing. I got back into modeling in 2020 during the lockdowns, so I'm learning as I go, I hope you find the videos useful. I try to build some of everything, even aircraft, but haven't built a Spitfire yet. But I will, lol. Good luck with your "experiments" and enjoy the hobby. We learn by doing. Take care and model on!! Johnny
