The EU didn't ask for a trade war, they were just rightfully worried for their population. The US acted like a bully just like they always do.
This is an example of how regulation should work. Businesses adapt and make something better rather than spending millions on lobbying just to overturn the regulations. Money should not be able to overturn the will of the people i.e. the elected lawmakers.
