This was a Swedish schampoo. (I used it often.) With a nice smell. Timotei is a Swedish flower. Which gives every Swede instant associations to great Swedish summers!
I feel like 99.9% of the views on this video came from curious people who watched Lucky Star and didn't understand the Timotei reference until finding this video
I WISH I could find the version with the song saying Timotei-my brother and I used to sing it and sway our hair around and crack up! Tim o taaaaaaaaaaay hahaha
Funny urban myth in the UK in the late 80s: Timotei shampoo contained glass fibers. Ridiculous rumor, but in the pre-internet world it was a 'thing' at the time and everyone I knew then suddenly stopped using it if anyone remembers!
Joona M That would be incredibly lucky for her as I believe that Timotei was pulled from shelves in Japan. That might not be the case, but I read that it was sold in the 80's worldwide and was shortly after pulled from some countries. No idea why, maybe it wasn't selling well. I think it might have been ~10 years after releasing worldwide that Konata was born. It might have still been around at the point that she could understand the commercial, hence why she knew of its existence. Or maybe she saw it online or something. Maybe she saw the commercial while watching an old anime her dad recorded. I dunno.
***** you should know that Konata has old references.Just listen that she sing in the karaoke(Uchuu Tetsujin Kyodain,Shouri Da Akumaizer 3,Monkey Magic...).It's his father who learnt her that I think. Sorry for my bad english I'm french.
I hadn't seen that stuff in years, then last late fall through Christmas, I went on a mission to Ireland and saw it at Tesco, shopping for essentials after I'd just arrived. Well, they had the special edition for different hair colors so I got the blonde one. Man, I don't know if it was Ireland's climate or the shampoo, but my hair felt so much better and didn't feel oily if I showered only every other night! Here in California, IT SHOWS when I wash my hair every other day! I want that back!!
i use to use this shampoo when i was a kid it was the best shampoo ever great smelling outdoor flowery smell .once you used this shampoo you could hold your breath for 5 minutes then breath in again and taste the air of the shampoo it was the best shampoo ever so get timotei its best buy ever
O God!!!! Do I remember this commercial! I was fifteen, had a full mouth of silver braces, blue-black hair standing straight up on my head, shaved off eyebrows and "FUCK OFF!" written in black marker on my hightop converse! GROOVY!
I swear everything I never heard of was referenced by something else (OR its fandom) later on, *then* I hear about it. Examples: The Simpsons = Armour Hot Dogs Family Guy = Take On Me Lucky Star = this Deadpool = Wham! (I only known one song before I seen it, and that's Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go)
I was waiting for the woman to say Timotei, timotei, TIMOTEEEEEIIII! Just like on Lucky
Star...But it doesn't happen!
Lol i was thinking the same
That was Konata Izumi from 2007!

Which part of this commercial is Konata copying?
@@nicbentulan You should watch the japanese version to understand ;)
Why... How... Why did Lucky Star reference this??
oreomonogatari Dunno. The creator might have used it somewhere in his life, I guess.
oreomonogatari it was a thing Japan to say "Timotei" while washing ur hair. My mom told me this since she's Japanese
oreomonogatari Because Konata.
Cute Konata
Don’t ask
Who else was brought here by lucky star?

serenia the rabbit me
The all-time classic that became popular in 2007.
Now I know where Kona-chan got it. No wonder Kuroi-sensei asked her how old she was. This is pretty old. XD
Thank you for the compliment, Haruhi
She was only 18 when she referenced this and at that point in time the commercial was only 22 year old
timotei, timotei.

It's from Finland, and it's not a flower, its a grass.
Wrong, wrong and wrong
I feel like 99.9% of the views on this video came from curious people who watched Lucky Star and didn't understand the Timotei reference until finding this video
I put this video up and I am a bit confused atht e comments etc, maybe you can explain? :)
Most of us came here from an anime called Lucky star. They reference this video in its 6th episode and most people come because of that
@@Nita-dl6ds AH, thanks for that.
@@haribokey ugyah, you're from 2021
I came here because of Bottom... :D
Lucky Star and Konata have a very special place in my heart. Timoteiiiii 💙

Konata: ne mite mite... timotei timotei timotei
LMAO
"How old are you, kid?"
~Kuroi Nanako
Thank you for this, Konata.
This commercial is now a Lucky Star legacy.
The music is a traditional Romanian folk song called "Mocirita cu Trifoi".
I WISH I could find the version with the song saying Timotei-my brother and I used to sing it and sway our hair around and crack up! Tim o taaaaaaaaaaay hahaha

Been on a trip to the falls where that was filmed today just outside benidorm absolutely amazing place
What if Timotei (from the anime) used Timotei when she showered?
oops! i mean Konata

Konata's favorite shampoo!
I wish I could get old Temotei shampoo now.

She was the only young woman without a bad perm in 1985. 😂
I know. I was 20 that year.
Now I'm a granny. 👵
Coolza, just found it on Amazon and purchased it!
@ChocoBabiChan Timotei is Nordic, not Japanese. And it's sold predominantly in Europe. Japan's just been tuning in to European TV, that's all.
2020 anyone?
It finally makes sense.
GOD DANM IT KONATA-

Yo tambien.
Me too.
i like how they referenced lucky star
I think we can all agree that we came here because of a certain blue haired girl. *coughkonatacough*
I still don't get why she was saying timotei in lucky star. She said it three times in a song like voice and it was never sung in the commercial
Vacker musik. Beautiful music.
Saya koq sedih ya liat iklan shampo ini 🥺 inget jaman dulu
I loved this shampoo only to get hair like hers of course, which I never did achieve!
