I went to school with Bruce from grade one on and I never had any idea he was being treated the way he was. He was just "our Bruce" and always was someone we accepted for the wonderful person he was and we never gave any thought to the fact that he was different from any of us. I am sorry to hear that he went through such trauma, but like he said, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Good on you Bruce for having the courage to do this interview, and you are right, you are and always will be "our gay friend and schoolmate". You are a very brave and special person, Bruce. God Bless.

I met Bruce at the Little Theater and he was so welcoming and happy and energetic. Moving here from San Francisco, it made me feel more at home to be in a community where Bruce felt so at home. Great documentary and I've subscribed so looking forward to more.

I first met Bruce Mason in August 1989 when I moved to Ladysmith, through a mutual friend, Bill Fitzpatrick. Bruce is one of the nicest and bravest people I have met. A stalwart in Ladysmith. All the best, Bruce :-)

What a nice fellow. i wish him and all decent people much happiness. As for the people who bully others ( in adulthood especially ), I wish them to learn the value of accepting people.

Very good.. thanks Bruce and thanks Ladysmith Historical Society for this ... While some may have been broad minded the broad outlines and forces of conformity can lead people to do some rahter frightful things to others for no reason in particular... just because they are different. This is a great reminder of the importance of empathy and also very much a tribute to Bruce and how he found a way to forgive.. I don't think I (or many of us) would have had the guts/ understanding/ strength of personality to have done that... viva Bruce!

    What a handsome, sweet man!
If I had been in the same highschool with you, I would've been your best friend, and protected you from those bullies.
I am glad you made it, and became stronger, and still love your town!
You were lucky to have understanding parents.
