Police believe that the man was carrying a list of all of the racketeers business contacts, but the only thing the man had in his locked briefcase was a copy of "Alice in Wonderland". A very good and dramatic episode, with a surprising culprit. I really enjoy Richard Denning in this role, he's loyal, intelligent, and kind when the situation calls for it.

With such a valuable book in his possession, you’d have thought Shayne would hide it somewhere safer than the glove compartment of his OPEN-TOPPED car, wouldn’t you?

Angela Mcgruder, There are other detective tv shows from the early 60's set in miami. There were some, but I only can think of Surf Side 6 beside Michael Shayne. There were other detective tv shows, but were not in the 60's: CSI Miami, Miami Vice, Magic City. Also lots of sitcoms: Golden Girls, Empty Next, Flipper, Miami Medical, Nurses, Lost, Thunderbolt.

Lucy wasn't driving a car, she was steering a boat. I wonder how many viewers today understand Gentry at 23:25 meant about the book.

Just think of all the free advertising, cities like Miami, receive from these shows. Mega $$$

Ever notice how many drivers in old TV shows and movies enter the car through the passenger door, not the driver's door? I think it usually has something to do with camera placement, but not here 12:46. They could easily have moved the camera a few feet to the left (and parked the car closer to the curb while they were at it). By the way, Jabberwocky was in Through the Looking Glass, not Alice in Wonderland.

      Yes I’ve noticed.
My understanding is that there was a safety campaign discouraging entrance from the flow of traffic.

@@jacquelinejanz8466 My own grandparents (who married during WW2) were buggy about getting in on the driver's side of a car, probably because of that same safety campaign. Then again, they spent their childhoods in big cities, I've never noticed that sort of behavior from folks raised in rural/suburban areas regardless of age. My mother used to follow their behavior like a lemming, while my dad was a country boy and thought she was crazy. Remember it leading to several arguments about her wrecking the upholstery with her stupidity, but she didn't stop doing it till she got too fat and lazy to climb over a stick shift, especially if the car had bucket seats..

Spinach Bitc#, If you notice there are no shots of miami in this show except when they show the city of miami municipal bldg. All the shots are of collins ave in miami beach. And the sketch art at the start is the skyline of miami beach instead of miami.
