Richard Denning! Jerry Paris! Herbert Rudley! An understatedly excellent cast with excellent constant and weekly guest star support! IMO, MICHAEL SHAYNE ranks right alongside PERRY MASON. Wish it had lasted about as long…
I love the cars. Plenty of seating room and plenty of trunk space. When people were smaller, cars were big. Now that people are bigger, cars are small. How does that make sense?
You know~ as often as these P.I.s, and cops, etc, get knocked unconscious in these shows, you'd think the 'old actor's home' would be filled with senile old stars! @29:07, Mike retrieves his butt & "field-strips" it~ a common practice for combat smoking.
In 1961 the average price was 31 cents. Depending on where you live and adjusting for inflation the changes might be minimal of important. In the south, not much different. In California and Hawaii quite significant.
35 cents in 1968 with my 1st car at UC Berkeley. Working just 20 hours/week I supported myself totally in college back then. Today, for the same gas in California we are paying 5.70
The actual Mike Shayne Mystery Magazine shown for this video is from October 1961. (I own a copy) The woman in the polka-dot dress has nothing to do with any story. Curiously, the feature story, "Death Of A Phony," was ghost written by Richard DEMING as Brett Halliday. And here, we have Richard DENNING starring as the too old, too wimpy, Mike Shayne.
Nothing makes any sense today. My Uncle had a hugh black Dodge Sat 3 in the front and 4 in the back big long seats so comfortable solid car. All crap today sneeze and theirs a Dent. 😮😮😮 If you ran into a pole .ore likely take the pole down. Run into a pole these days more than likely take you OUT.
You have an honest face.....now she's with two strange men. People wondered how handsome Ted Bundy with his honest face and friendly personality 'lured' women into his cars------he slowed down and they jumped in as he drove past.

Love the old commercials! Good episode of Michael Shayne!
When Shayne went into that storeroom at 17:02 with a torch, why didn't he just turn the light on - he walked right past the switch!!

Lol!
Great episode! As always, I'm left guessing until Mike Shayne cracks the case.😯 Thanks for the upload!
Me to. On all of them.
I am so enjoying these episodes. Thank you!
I had a 61' olds. Holiday...great memories...
I'm sold...am buying an Oldsmobile!
Michael Shayne has a split personality. Richard Denning his serious side and Lloyd Nolan his more personable side. Both played their versions well.
AHAAHHHAAHAHAHHA!! Good one!!
Originally telecast on December 9, 1960.

Why not?
