That sale by Egan of Jaguar to Ford was one of the greatest sales jobs of all time. He convinced them that GM were also interested (they weren't) and when Ford did buy the company they were absolutely horrified at the state of the manufacturing facility. (it hadn't been updated at all and was in terrible state) - While Ford did not do much product wise (S-Type, X-Type etc) they lost an absolute fortune. Billions invested and they ended up selling after the 08 crisis for little more than when they bought it.
But still, I maintain: The XJS was one of the most beautiful cars of history (and the frame wasn't bad either, it was still used in the Aston Martin DB7 15 years later) and was certainly Jaguar's finest (English, flegmatic, elegant, opulent, arrogant, svelt...)
As the CEO of a well known packaging company , my days are very busy , office to shop floor and at the end of the day I dont want an extension of either and appreciate my "me" time on my 30 mile commute back home . That said , no other car gives me the vital soothing chill out experience as my beloved series 3 V12 Daimler . No flashing dash lights , no audible warnings , no monitor screen just an ambience of a safe secure world away from the evils of reality . If Jaguar put the series 3 back into production I would be the first in the queue to buy . I dont want any of the current range
it's good that jaguar kept the nice old style, most manufacturers in the 1980's and 90's became sloppy, jaguar seems to be the only one out of the lot to keep it's cool styling.
Unfortunately the prediction over Brown's Lane proved prophetic. Then again; the Forduar years - for all its ugly and watered down models - did give Daimler-Jaguar their Castle Bromwich plant, among other things. Tata has proven a better owner though, than Ford ever was.
Absolutely. When it was about cars it was great. Clarkson and co ruined it with their stupid stunts and inane rhetoric. Canned laughter too, what a circus it became.
I've had 8 jags.... All great cars

I have a '82 series 3 XJ6 and it runs like a top and better than most newer cars
I guess it is quite randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to stream new movies online?
@Achilles Arturo Lately I have been using flixzone. Just search on google for it =)

It's fantastic to see a Mk1 included in a video for once!
1:35 That's still on the road today. Passed it's MOT at 12414 miles 7 months ago. Doing pretty well for an 82 year old car.
Happy news indeed.

Yes... better cars, music etc etc
Great clip. Well found
nice cars.
Even old top gear is better than new top gear with chris evans, absolute shit.
ginger pubes...
Top gear as it was. Ruined by Clarkson and co. Just became a rediculous clown show of stupidity and nonsense.
All points to the fact that BL was a shocker.
Thanks again for the upload, BTW...
