A carwash broke off my whip antenna on my 2004 Trailblazer. I managed to get the old base off. I went to a junkyard and was able to pull one off of another trailblazer. I got back home and mostly have it all installed, but I am having a bear of a time getting the cable fed back through the fenderwell and into where the hole is behind the glovebox. I only had the thought of taping string or another wire to the end of the old one before puling it out AFTER having all this trouble getting it back in.

A little more detail if you don't mind. How did you pop the little black grill part off you had already taken off? You wished you fished some wire up tied to the old one you took out? How would you do that? Use a piece of rope do? But not bad, overall.

What grill part I don’t remember? Unless you’re talking about that plastic part that surrounds the antenna it’s just 3 clips holding it down just pull on the whole thing and it comes right now!
And exactly a rope or a small wire just so when you pull it threw you can pull the new one back to you because it’s almost impossible to to fish it threw

Mine broke after I put an aftermarket 50 caliber low profile on (for the cool look). That was the first mistake. My cable was really a bear to get out for some reason. It was like it was wedged in during assembly. (I can imagine some GMC worker laughing when they saw it - this one ain't coming out easy) Anyway, I finally got it out after bruising the crud out of my hands and arms (I'm old) but I'm not looking forward to feeding the new one back down through the firewall area. If anyone has found a GOOD TRICK for feeding the new one back through, please advise. THANKS FOR PUTTING THIS VIDEO TOGETHER!

It was super helpful to remove that upper corner brace from the fender to get your arm more level and makes it easier to reach back there.
Just 4 quick screws I think it was 13mm. Easier to remove.

My truck is missing the screw and the black cover that’s on the bottom does that mean I need a new antena please reply

If it’s the black cover on the top part near the hood where the antenna sticks out that cover will not effect anything it’s just cosmetic!
But if your missing the base part that the antenna screws into then yea that needs to be replaced!

Car wash broke mine off! The screw/stud is in the base . It broke it off flush . Question is can u drill and tap the base ? It looked like someone tried on your base .
Also does the replacement cable go all the way to the radio ?

Tape a rope to the end of the old cable in the truck then pull it out all the way... then tape it to the new cable and pull it back into the cab just like a electrician would do to fish in a wire... so much easier... you don't have to go to college to know that... Haha...

My 05 for some reason doesn't have that kind of room or gap. I've ran plenty of electrical and know the trick, but it was all I could to to pull my cable out with both hands and all my 225lbs. I'm still looking for a work around to feed the new one back through. Glad it was easy for most of ya'll...
