  • I’m sharing my thoughts and experiences about daydreaming in this video and how that connects with my tarot practice. What are your experiences with daydreaming and tarot? I’d love to hear about your approach!
Continuing my series on storytelling with tarot, this video describes how I’ve been using the Pagan Otherworlds Tarot to create micro-stories in a post-apocalyptic world.

In the video I talk about Maladaptive Daydreaming. If you feel that Maladaptive Daydreaming may be a problem affecting you or a loved one, please seek out professional support. There are many resources online that can point you in the right direction. Here is a RUclips video where I learned more about the condition:

How wonderful to discover you! I love hearing other's creative uses for tarot. I'm not a traditional storyteller or writer, but as a musician and tarot reader, I've used my cards to inspire my songwriting many times. I look forward to watching more of your videos! :)

Hi, I love your uses of tarot and story. Of worlds within worlds.
Maladaptive daydreaming sounds like going to your 'safe place' but for hours at a time. A way to cope with reality. I wonder if it is similar to dissociation, or ... let me stop there. But a rich and varied inner world, where we have access to beautiful art as prompt cards. Hey ho.
ETA: my tarot practice, includes a study of archetypes that has helped tremendously in my being able to slow down enough to process my thoughts, inter personal relationships and other stuff. I have since been diagnosed with ADHD and well yeah. Day dreaming, with added character or situational understanding has given me greater joy from going to art galleries and instillations.
At present I am working with the 6 of cups and story. It is really powerful as delving deep has also brought a creativity I didn't know I had.
    So thank you for sharing.

You're right, maladaptive daydreaming is considered a form of dissociation. There's also a cross-over with ADD, but it's complex. I found out since making this video about a researcher called Eli Sommer who came up with the term, and discusses these connections. Your practice sounds really enriching and valuable. I love the idea of these experiences bringing new levels to appreciating both art and daily life. Thanks for watching and for sharing! 🥰

I really enjoyed this. I love how you've used the decks to create a story...using it as an inspiration exercise...and for enjoyment. Coincidentally, I've had The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa on my to read list for a while and recently found it in a second hand bookshop. I hope to read it in the next few weeks. He was a fascinating individual. The daydreaming aspects also resonated.... (I was frequently in trouble when I was a child for daydreaming and not paying attention...I am constantly daydreaming even as an adult....but this is part of a strong inner landscape for me and helps me manage in my daily life) ... as did the interest in post apocalyptic stories and worlds. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for taking the time to comment 🙏 I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, Pessoa is fascinating. Enjoy The Book of Disquiet! His work is full of interesting ideas, but I'm never sure how sincerely to take any of it because of the layers of experimentation. His poems make a change for me from my usual favourites which tend to be either nature-based, mystic or narrative. I'm also glad the daydreaming part resonated - thank goodness for inner landscapes 🥰

I'd love to read your novels 🙂.
As a daydreamer, non commercial poet, a reader and an introvert I find your way of creativity and talking about your experiences very interesting! Also I appreciate your care about non human animals and Earth!
    Thank you so much!
I enjoy listening and watching your channel!

I used to do a lot of day dreaming as a child..it was pure escapism from the anxiety and loneliness of my childhood similar to how you described. It was just making up fairy tales and stories... As I've gotten older my daydreams have become more like ruminations and are anxiety driven 🙄 I find it so hard to just get lost in another world these days. My mind is restless..😅
I have the Citadel deck.. it is a great deck for story telling as is Caroline Myss Archetype Deck.
I do play with my cards in a similar way to you but don't have the patience to write it down. Its a good way to get to know a new deck also.
This was really interesting thank you ❤

Thank you for watching and sharing. I've been interested in the Caroline Myss deck, because I enjoy her videos on archetypes here on RUclips, but I don't care for the art... I hope your practice helps with finding relief from rumination 💚
