- Take a quick tour of some of the accessibility features of the newest car in our fleet: the R211!
We’re very excited to start testing these trains on real tracks. You might be lucky enough to spot one out in the system. ☀️
Its amazing how a quiet project suddently comes super fast on the agenda. Super work MTA!
I’m super excited to see these trains go into service. The amount of attention this train is already getting surpasses the attention of the R179. I really can’t wait to see these in full action.

@@mr.train_x4287 well I’m the biggest fan of mta bus
They look great, love the strip map. I wish there was more seating capacity or seating set up like the R-46.
R46 seating layout is super outdated - studies have found that there is a need for an additional standing space (especially for short commutate times within the city).
It looks almost as spacious as the older cars… like extremely wide on the inside. Beautiful
These cars, along with the upcoming R262s, will be just what we needed. Hopefully the open-gangway pilot trains will be successful so we can finally introduce them into our area, although the IRT having open gangway trains will be quite the challenge.

Nice, but that is a bit too much yellow IMO. If everything is a safety precaution, then nothing is. The brain just tunes it out
Are u gonna say the same for the buses also
True
I like the yellow.
The yellow (gold) and blue is for the state of New York’s colors. Not only for safety.
I agree with you and would say the exact same thing for the busses as well. I liked the stainless steel as it was calmer on your eyes. I think from what I have heard the actual reason for the yellow is for the blind. But they could have just made portions of the middle yellow and not everything yellow!
Happy they have security cameras now
Glad they have security cameras! Commuters need it.
Don't worry, the bail reform will just allow the criminals to continue to do as they please. Thanks to deDufus, criminals can be caught in the act and still get released. NYC is a joke when it comes to being tough on crime.

I cant wait to ride and record them
I’m from Sydney Australia, and the trains are really nice, big windows, 8 cars, double decker, nyc needs double decker. But this is cool
There are double deck trains on LIRR, Amtrak and NJ transit. Metro North doesn't use double deck trains but can be used on its tracks if ever needed. Now if you mean on the subway that will never happen.

hi gatito ruclips.net/video/6ulbKlCOjho/видео.html look at the history of r211
Hopefully these give extra trains on the A line to fill those large waiting gaps
These 440 cars would probably make up the entirety of the A train fleet (440 cars = 44 10-car trains. The A requires 360 cars for the rush hours). The R46 cars will be retired and the R179s would go to the C line first.
Let's goooooooo!!!!!
@The Transit Traveler I guess it represents themselves in a anime style 😎
2 years now, more units are getting in service right now.
The ones from the option order better have open gangways because the upcoming 440 car order will not get open gangways but 20 cars will. We need more open gangways mostly because to reduce overcrowding in each car on busier lines and also to stop people from subway surfing on the roof tops.

Great train cars - but the fact that almost all of them won't have fully open gangways is a JOKE!
This has been standard around the world for 20 years already, the benefits are huge
@Hayoon Chen no, just a fraction of the new cars will have them.
@@nicolasblume1046 sir the open gangways are real and will come to NYC in 2022 BUT it will NOT test run on sharp turn lines
Yh completely agree
Here in London we brought our first open gangways train back in 2010
Now 4 lines have them
Really don’t understand why New York isn’t doing the same
@@suip328 They’ll be running around the entire system for a test run before a permanent home yard is found.
@@MrBluebirds22 we actually had an experimental open gangway train in the 1930s and 40s but that was only when the subway was operated by three companies. then when the MTA came around in 1965, they said to those three companies to ditch all of their weird experimental trains and we'll start rolling in new ones. and they never made an open gangway train after that
Finally! But I just wish we could get cushioned seats like the LIRR has.
Cushioned seats? In NYC? Like that's ever going to happen, the seats would be cut up by vandals in no time.
@@one_step_sideways You know the LIRR and the Metro North trains all have cushioned seats, and they travel right into the center of NYC as well. Any vandal could easily get into those trains but yet no one's complaining. So why not the NYC subways as well.
@@professional.commentator Because it probably isn't actually that easy to get into those trains
@@one_step_sideways Well that's true but I still think we could do it here in NYC. NYC trains have been in worse conditions before especially back in the 70s and 80s.
@@professional.commentator Yes, sadly the 80's are the only reason why you can't have anything better than vandal proof seats, designs or anything. It will take major demographic changes to improve things in NYC, the NYC govt doesn't want that to happen because they are happy with being corrupt and stealing all the money, while also dumping $1.1B on a single train station instead of the subway infrastructure from the 1940's.
With wider doors comes less windows in each car. So many other modern subway cars around the world have designed wide doors that don’t open into an internal space and offer continuous windows along entire cabin. Why not in NYC?
Because of ads and doors in each car.
Making it harder to get a seat.

Other B division lines, like the B,D,G and franklin avenue shuttle use r68's, and will not be replaced with r211's. r62(a)'s on the 1,3,6, and 42nd street shuttle will not be replaced by r211's because they are A division and r211's wouldn't be able to fit in the tunnels (A division is numbered trains, B division is lettered trains), but they will all be replaced by r262's in the next 5-10ish years.
