  • Another winner from Kent Of Inglewood! The Moki Fish Owl is a small, pocket-friendly, carry knife. The quality is amazing and the style is beautifully simple. This video was a HOOT to make!

I find the Moki knives are the best gentleman's folders, few people know about or talk about. Great video.

I’m a big Moki fan. I’ve only 3 so far, but that number will grow. They all come with some sort of slip or pouch. This is the most basic, but it’s still better than most at any price. They’re knives are always perfectly made. They tend to offer most patterns in two or three sizes and several materials.
Moki are reputed to make more knives for other brands than in their own name. Back in the 70’s they made knives for Gerber, then Al Mar. Al Mar introduced Sal Glesser to Moki, and Sal’s first Spyderco took a Moki knife, to which Sal welded a nut to the back of the blade and ground it down to the width of the blade, producing the first Spydie hole. The first all stainless steel Spydercos all come from this.
The ‘integral’ FRN handles were first made by Gerber in the US, but they then contracted Moki to make them in Seki City, who now use a very similar method to make Spyderco Ladywbugs, Manbugs and Dragonflies, as well as a number of Fallkniven folders such as the U4, U2 and TK4. They make all of the Fallkniven knives, but always deny it.

I see you know a lot about Moki. They sure are lovely! I just loved this one for the simplicity and class. Plus, the name means a lot! Great seeing you again, friend!

Why thank you! I may be posting some new stuff here. When I say "new", I mean completely unrelated to my older stuff. However, TheKnifeRaven will always be a knife channel. Cheers!

Thanks for the intro. I'm still clueless on Japanese knives. When you produced it, the first thing that came to mind was actually Sodbuster, at least in silhouette. You get the feeling that it is of a 'knife for life' standard.

great video, really enjoyed it! :-)
little correction: newer al mar knives aren't made by moki anymore, sadly the production moved to an unknown chinese maker and as a result the quality of the knives suffered heavily.

The 2.5 inch blade version of this is available at GP Knives for around $73 dollars.

Just tried a bunch of these in Hakata, Tenjin yesterday. The micarta is really slippery but it will get more sticky over time, I like how it looks like a plain steak knife. The workmanship on the action is fantastic, the steel lines up and the blade seem disappears!!!

Wow, that's a shame. I still believe Moki makes knives for Spyderco, though. I highly suggest this one or the Red Fox to you, Paddy. Take care!

Could the fact that there are no liners be a structural issue down the line?
