I could be wrong but im pretty sure Adam Jones the guitar player of Tool does the art direction of the videos hes very talented he also has worked on movies including making the t-rex in the original Jurrasic Park.
Im so happy you found Tool!!! I love hearing new perspectives on the song ive heard a million times, it gives me a new appreciation and I love it, keep it up man!
The leaf was enlightenment and understanding. The very end is him dying and becoming one with all.

Adam Jones Guitar. He is the art director for the band. A very talented dude. Has worked on a few major films as well.
This album is when they started to (i believe) work with an Artist named Alex Grey. All of these people are into sacred geometry and higher consciousness. It's quite a rabbit hole 🐇

fyi - the Guitar player, Adam Jones is the artist who produces the videos... leaf like life - we are all compost. Look up Alex Gray artist. TOOL works with Alex's artwork for their albums.
Excellent reaction and analysis, Dave! I think I speak for everyone when I say that I think it would be awesome if you analyzed the imagery in the music videos along with the songs. You've done Parabola, and so that leaves you with the following: Hush, Sober, Prison Sex, Stinkfist, Ænema, Schism, and Vicarious. I personally would like to see your take on the imagery of Vicarious. One of the most intricate videos I have ever seen in my life, truly. The majority of their videos were directed, conceived, and made by their guitar player, Adam Jones. He was a special effects artist before joining Tool, and has done work for movies such as Edward Scissorhands, Jurassic Park, and Terminator 2 among others.
The Parabola video is a very strange and intricate video in itself, so I wont really go into an interpretation of it. I will give my personal definitions for the images in it though.
The Grey Men in Suits- individuals who go about life only wanting to take for personal gain and advancement (They were in a sense, or quite literally, sh**ting out of their mouths. As they did so, they formed a circle that symbolized the world as it would be if everyone was just taking greedily and selfishly.)
The Little Guy- he represents the Soul of the main character who, himself, represents the average human.
The Tree- the Tree of Life, as it were (You put a very nice suggestion to it as well. The term "parabola" was always very vague to me in math class, as well as in relation to the song topic. Thank you for explaining it.)
The Black Cluster-Sphere- it represents either Death and/or all of the different experiences, choices, and actions in Life that kill the Soul
The Forest- the wilderness that one goes into to find enlightenment or discipline of some sort.
The Leaf has been a mystery to me until I heard your interpretation. Again, I thank you.

Crazy to think this is 19 years old
This was the song that got me into Tool! I pirated a copy of this album and never knew of this transition until I stole this album as a kid. I had heard tool before but that transition is what made me a long life fan. Gave me goosebumps Everytime I heard it. For the record I've gone on to buy the album like 8 times. Vinyl and about 7 times on CD anytime it starts to skip, buy another one.
Can one person react to this song and not pause at the transition.
That pause killed me
Wow, for first time hearing its great understanding. Unfortunately understanting does not bring you closer to the Truth even for an iota. Still its very much enough to inspire to seek. Sat Nam 🙏🧘♂️

"This video might give me more insight." 🤣🤣🤣 Not with TOOL. The videos are cool but rarely have anything to do with the song. Stay away from them for song reactions.
In this case. It did help. But for a first listen it’s too much to process and breakdown.
@@whatitdodave that's very true. I'm sure they mean something to Adam Jones (or the band) but the songs very often have multiple meanings and then you throw in the visuals and they are like a whole other step to the side. Great reaction. I like that you tried to pull them all together. 👍
I would highly recommend NO Videos when you're having your 1st listen...they're quite distracting to the real emotion of the song in my opinion.
