I ran a business out of a two car garage that required keeping a few thousand pieces of inventory. I had to get really creative for storage too. I appreciate the struggle, nice work.

Thank you! Running any business out of a 2 car garage makes you get creative, let alone keeping all that inventory! What are some of the creative storage solutions you had?

Talk about optimizing the use of space! This video was very helpful and given me ideas that I can use even outside of my garage. I'm really thinking about grabbing one of those mobile workbenches now and also grabbing some pegboards thanks to this. Great work on making every inch be functional. Excited for the next video!

After watching the completed video I realized how it was more about creative solutions to set up a room than specifically a small garage. I'm glad it inspired you!
Home Depot have some great benches on casters and I know they were on sale last week. Being able to bring the workbench to you instead of having to go to it is really handy if you have the space. My workbench isn't on wheels, but I have moved my cart and tool box around when I needed to.

I've enjoyed following your garage setup series. "Hard Stop" quirks of older garages. I loved the analogy and I totally understand when you have to work within the constraints of an older garage. Good job removing the "customized" storage, and setting it up for you. Floor space is a premium with a small garage so optimizing your small side work space is important in order to keep the car side of the garage open to actually work on the car. The best idea I have for your mezzanine is remove/modify it into a U shape. Make the shelving less deep, and open up the centre area for more head room. You may be able to get away with smaller structural wood for the shelving which will also open up the ceiling area. Yours looks like it can hold some serious weight which may be overkill for your needs.

I'm glad you enjoyed the videos, and thanks for the ideas!
You're totally right that it's overkill. The framing is all 2x4 with some thin plywood, and I bet for my needs I could get away with one of those ceiling mounted wire shelf systems. Less depth would also be massively helpful as I could reach what I put up there. I've also thought that if I reduced the size of those shelves I would be able to put shelves or hooks along the shared wall with the house. I could hang things up there and be able to access them since the overall side shelves are smaller. All endless ideas rolling around in my head!

Great video! Idea for the replacement of the small loft is using those yellow and black totes on a rail system to keep them up high. Less used stuff. Like body work tools, paint tools, and such. Costco has them cheap. Just buy them all from the same place. The sizes vary. Keep the videos coming!

Thank you! I do have some of those black and yellow Costco bins full of car parts in my basement 😆 I've thought about doing those on maybe half the area, and then keeping a shelf on the other half to hold my roof box. Or I could hang that too. A combination of both smaller shelves and those bins wouldn't be bad either. I think I've got the height to do both if I wanted.

Great video. Garage looks very nice. I like to work with the garage door open (south Florida), so I mounted 2 led strip lights to the inside of the door, and plug them in when I need to cast light straight down onto my work area.

Thank you! That's a great idea. I don't work with my door open very often, but the two overhead lights I have are covered if I do. Some strips on the door would be a great addition!

I'm no expert, but I bet you could get a v-gouge carving tool and use it to cut grooves into the drywall patch for the AC hole. Or just buy a new panel and install it.
Also, that may be the nicest looking ac I've ever seen, and yet it is also the one that makes everything around it look incredibly ancient, and mobile-home-ish.

I never thought about mimicking the look of the wood paneling 🤔 A new panel would also work. Just the thought of tearing into a wall scares me in this house. It's never as easy as it seems. If it wasn't in a corner I'd probably patch it and hang art over it haha.
You're spot on! They made sure to trim it all out nicely, but it's still an AC unit in a wall. And again, the house has central air and ducts in the room! I've also never had an issue with it getting too hot in the summer and needed the secondary cooling. It's baffling.
