High res textures?? Reflective maps? Ambient occlusion and normal maps?? On a painting software for a tablet?? Procreate is actually f*cking amazing.

Plus, it colors everything inside of the lines by just a single tap. Otherwise that’ll take hours to do everything especially if you draw comics

I figured it out! So open a new drawing and click the help option under the settings. Then there’s a button that says “3D model download” or smthg. It takes forever to load
does this not work with procreate pocket? I’ve been looking for it, but I have not seen it yet.

@@kongfucarrot yeah, when I first got procreate I thought it would just be amazing art straight away, no- you have to get used to the controls and be alr at art.
you can use a phone too it’s just a little more difficult with the size
@@l3ila219 Its doable but ı wouldnt reccomend using phone and finger. It takes 7 to 8 times longer than doing it with paper and pen. (for me) But if u dont mind the suffering it can be quite fun.
ngl the fact procreate is integrating this is really cool. like something like substance painter is super advanced but also.. quite expensive(tho i think the 2022 perpetual license is very cheap on steam rn)

You can get it for free with a student license (you don’t need to be a student)
I wouldn’t say this is comparable to Substance Painter entirely, I’d probably say just the hand painting aspect, since you can’t apply pre-made materials.
This is definitely easier than buying 3D Coat or Painter alongside a drawing tablet though, I’ve got those two programs and ProCreate is just an easier since my iPad is so comfortable to use

I just got my first tattoo and my tattoo artist was telling us how he uses this with models of body parts to see how tattoos work for wraparound tattoos! Such a cool application!

bRO SAME AND ITS BEEN MONTHS
As a peasant who only use free software, you can do this on blender, but would have to UV map first, screenshot the mapping, import that photo to Krita(as a layer, the background’s transparent so you don’t have to paint the background in blender first), use Krita to paint accordingly to the UV map, turn off the UV map layer, export as jpg/png/etc. Import it right back into blender
So this is achievable on blender, but blender has a disadvantage on details and brush(maybe import? I haven’t this aspect yet), so you can use another drawing software to fill this role

It was cool
When I got to episode 6 whoever....
I just paused the thing and left

Then two days later I resumed squid and continued and watched the whole thing in less than a day
so you can definitely import 3D models right? do we know what filetypes it supports or is it some proprietary filetype? this would be an insanely intuitive way for me, as a 3d sculpter/modeler, to texture my models without having to worry about super clean UVs.
If it was my guess it'll still have the same fbx work flow that substance painter has. If it didn't that's be a deal breaker for many.
Still have to do uvs yourself though lol

@Watcher blender is not very much for professionals lol, especially not the texture side. Blender is super powerful, but painter/mari are lightyears ahead in terms of texturing. Blender is working on that though.
@Watcher i know, blender is very powerful and many very proficient people use it in their workflows, its just not that blender is a "software for professionals" like Maya or zbrush is. Blender is used mainly by hobbyists and was made to democratise 3d software if i remember correctly. Now since blender 2.8 more and more professionals are using it to make money with, notably Ubisoft i believe, but that doesnt mean it's a professional software. You can turn it into a professional software with enough scripts and addons, as it is still lacking some required-by-the-industry features, but in it's base state i would not call it a professional software. Again, its really good and i prefer it to the sky over maya, i can't stand maya, but no, not professional. Professional doesnt mean "really good", but in this context it also means things like 24/7 tech support, which maya does have for instance.
Also, blender has faster render times? Than what? Maya? Maya has Arnold, which, yeah, isn't the fastest but its also in my subjective opinion superior to cycles. Cycles still looks reallllyyy good though and with cycles x it does indeed render very quickly. But take a look at marmoset toolbag, those render times are unmatched for the quality, even by eevee, which is also very good, but again, i think marmoset is the superior realtime render engine in my opinion

I need some help guys. Whenever I put my Apple Pencil down and draw the color shows up like an inch below where my Apple Pencil is. I asked procreate and they asked if I had display zoom on. How do I turn it on? Or do you know how to fix this?

If you want an iPad and procreate here are some things you can do!
1. Ask for Christmas or your birthday. I got my iPad 2 years ago for Christmas :)
2. Doing some chores around the cash (if your parents pay you for that) because you can save up to buy yourself one!
3. Get a job (if you're old enough) you can start babysitting once you turn 13
In California, at 14, in some cases, you can get a job aswell.
4. You can sell your artwork to make money!
Hopefully you can use some of these tips and get yourself an iPad and procreate!!

fun fact i found out while using the app: you can only draw on the 3d model on an apple pen, if you try on a finger it would simply move it
You can still use it without an Apple Pencil, though, it’s harder as you have to draw on a 2d sheet and then it projects onto it
This is perfect for making designs and 3D animation
