You know, Jung and his work mean so much to me, you could say it means my life. I was restless and pondering questions about the meaning of existence and seeking spirituality since 13. And I dreamed recently that Jung is still alive, he reincarnated as himself to carry on his work. In the dream I felt he reincarnated in me, symbolically meaning that I should be one of the people that carry on his work. And you three are extraordinary and I am so glad you exist and are alive as my contemporaries. And I did search a bit other sources, other youtubers, the atmosphere at the Zurich center, and I was so disappointed. But.. you do the work, for real, I feel it, and I love you for it. I am in Europe and will likely never meet you in person and I dont have the money to ever go into therapy with you, but I am glad nevertheless that you exist and I get to see your work while you are alive and not from books. Thank you!
A little synchronicity: Just a few days after I wrote this comment, I started reading Barbara Hannah's book on Jung's life and I was surprised to see Jung was of the sentiment that the individuals reading the books in silence will be those carrying on his work: "I am sure there must have been a great many good spirits there that morning, and I think they mostly belonged to people we did not even know. But you know, those are the people who will carry on my psychology, people who read my books and let me silently change their lives. It will not be carried on by the people on top, for they mostly give up Jungian psychology and take to prestige psychology instead."
We'll let you know when we get there". From where I'm standing, you three are closer than anyone in my universe( virtual and personal ). You are the adults in the room. And, each time I'm in that room, I feel deeply touched.
The following dream sparked my interest in alchemy and jung... A great time to be alive - thank you team and RUclips. I had a dream where a wise woman was giving gardening advice to a attentive audience. To show their appreciation the crowd passed down gifts of plants. A large dark fungi wrapped in black visqueen landed in my lap. The surface of the fungi glittered with gold.

Alchemy was fundamentally the ancient origin of chemistry. Sir Isaac Newton, discoverer of the 3 laws of motion, Calculus, fundamentals of light, was also a devoted alchemist in secret. His notebooks on alchemy were kept secret by his family until relatively recently to protect his reputation.
Fantastic episode! Alchemical Studies and Psychology and Alchemy are by far Jungs most important when trying to understand his approach to psychotherapy using dreams. Where Jung stops, namely, the emergence of the image of the self, is the starting point of Iamblichus and the latter Neoplatonists. These images are more than mere images, they are carriers of very particular kinds of energy whose expression is felt and expierenced synchronistically. What the Neoplatonists, Egyptians and Chaldeans understood was that these geometric shapes were not just dream images, they were the manifestation of a god. Once one understood this, they could infer what God manifested according to its geometric shape, all of which are expressed in the Platonic solids. According to Iamblichus and Proclus, working with sunethemata in nature, we can create a receptical which can actually house the presence of this unconscious energy and act as an oracle.
Fantastic! Nonetheless, only the Creator created the achemists and allow the manifesting of dreams. We are all here to experience in love for our One G-d.
Isn’t it true that the material descriptions used by Alchemists was merely to avoid accusations of heresy from religious doctrines and the fatal consequences? They were metaphorically referring to the psychological and spiritual development (preferred by mystical Christianity and Sufism within Islam for example) that wasn’t congruent with prevailing doctrines. That it was a way to maintain secrecy and protection from persecution?
Yes the philosopher stone with us showed in Harry Potter has a hidden meaning but I can’t disclose that in public, the practice they had where they try to “change different substances into gold has roots in Christianity is very hidden but very simple if you manage to see it for yourself. (“SR”)

I'm fascinated by the esoteric alchemy of transforming the individual. And I came to think of how the first blackening stage is similar to what Jesus said, that we need to deny ourselves. The ego in separation consciousness has to dissolve! Jesus even said that we must lose our life in order to find our life in Christ, and rather than it meaning physical death I think of it as the first stage in alchemy.
It's interesting hearing this in a rational way. I wonder if being rational leads to aspiration which leads to deep change. This is an insight and I feel insights are God speaking.
I actually think I read that alchemy was one of the main catalysts for developing scientific thought and rational thinking in the first place! Edward Edinger's Anatomy of the Psyche is a great book on alchemy.
38:53 the body of the King is just lifeless.. This section is the best description of mid life crisis I've yet heard. I'm 54 and have been working through my own MLC for 5 years, which accompanied a series of external catastrophes as a family we had no control over. Last night after hearing this section I sat with my IFS parts and connected to a deep 'alter ego', my shadow self, that was so gentle and powerful, as I now have this framework to help me understand and support this work. Is there a place online for us MLC's ers to connect around Jungian Alchemy as you have described? I am so grateful for this description and would love to hear more of this process from a MLC POV. I know that "Alice through the looking glass" feeling of having "an experience" - 2 years ago was when mine began, after a long stint of straws on the camel's back and a trigger event that touched a critical nerve I'd been numbing since early childhood. Under the clear blue sky of the totally rational world I had learned to accept as all there is, I heard the wings of a dragonfly in my mind's ear whispering a poem, spoken as a greeting (or a summons?) from an old friend: "...or how many times have our lives lines been crossed in thick or in thin..." The REAL world owl in the pine tree 30 yards away asked "Who?" incessantly as archetypal characters began to act out a "play" in the theater of my mind : a figure in battered eclectic armor kneeling before a fallen buttress of a crumbling cathedral; a deep Feminine voice whispered "Watch. Listen." as the rose window in the last-standing gable wall of the cathedral blazed to life and shifted like a kaliedoscope, a mandala, the iris of the third eye of a goddess opening to show me my own mind. A birth, long and difficult, attended by the Fates as they diced and made wagers while weaving a square of dull fabric - a blanket, or a shroud?, the oldest checking the positions of the stars in the sky outside the room's single (circular) segmented window ...a young mother sitting in a rocking chair, a bundle swaddled in dull fabric on her lap as she sings in a low soothing voice..."Don't talk to strangers, 'cause they're only there, to do you harm..."(Dio) Her dark eyes are clouded with dark shadows and haunting visions - past, present, or future? - while a needle and thread flash in her deft fingers, stitching the blanket around the infant, her needle working as she absent-mindedly places her final stitches in the sleeping infant's silent lips. ...the deep Feminine voice again - "Build for me a Temple, a bridge between worlds, and you will have the power to walk between them at will..." I do not know what that means, how I should go about it, or why I should be asked to do this - I don't "believe in" ANY of this woo woo stuff. Maybe I've finally lost my mind? My attention returned to the real world and the owl in the pine tree, still being nosey with its one question; but I had lost interest and energy for anything and spent the next 2 days binge-watching Netflix, trying to focus on something besides my spinning mind. On the third day the owl was still there, still questioning. I tried doing some work outside, and while I was sitting on the deck for a break, I was joined by a visitor - a cobalt blue and black damselfly, a living one, but it didn't look real; it was too bright, almost metallic, like a jewel that had fallen from the breast of some goddess' gown. We sat surveying each other for several minutes, and the thought went through my mind as if my visitor had asked it - "So, what's it gonna be?" I didn't have an answer. Soon another damselfly arrived, pale chartreuse, and the two joined in midair, forming an open heart with eight diaphanous wings, then flew away back to whatever world they had come from, apparently along with the owl. That afternoon as I walked my dog I had a profound sense of presence in and awareness and aliveness of the natural world I don't recall ever having experienced before. I know this could be sensitive but how about an episode relating jungian philosophy to say the conflict in Israel??.
