TOFANA DI ROZES, Dolomites [3225m]: One Minute ABOVE the CLOUDS

- Hey! Im back with another video from the beautiful Dolomites, in the Italian Alps!
I didn't manage to film many adventure vlogs lately as I've been working on a series of "hiking-tips" about Dolomites so I spent my time hiking around and documenting some trails. I hope they will be useful! But before going back home for a couple days I decided to make a short sunrise adventure.
In this episode I hiked to the top of one of the most iconic mountains in the Dolomites, Tofana di Rozes, for sunrise! I started to hike from Rifugio Dibona (2083m) at 5AM and reached the top at 6.50AM (1200m D+). It was completely cloudless when I started to hike, but all of a sudden all the moisture in the air condensated into fog! And I've been lucky enough to be over this spectacular carpet for just a couple minutes!
After a some epic drone shots I was completely immersed into the clouds so I hiked back down. I was hoping to have breakfast at Rifugio Giussani, but i forgot my wallet in the car!
It's my second time on top of Tofana di Rozes, but I have never managed to enjoy the aerial view of Dolomites that you can see from the top! The first time I hiked up during the day, and when I was hiking the some clouds formed around the top and basically I could see nothing.
I guess I need to come back another time!

You reached the top in 2 hours 😵😵😵 i've been there a couple of times and i'm speachless about that! Anyway great video as always. The views from the top are amazing.
If I'm without the heavy pack and during daytime I can make it in less than 1h30min :)

I did this route just yesterday and it was not so easy. It is very difficult to navigate to the top and very steep so grate that you did it pretty much in the dark! Views were amazing!

Brings back memories of when I climbed Tofana di Roses back in ‘89 (I think) via the via Ferrata Giovanni Lipella. Shame you didn’t get better weather but thanks for sharing.

I'm no expert by any means, but in my experience once low lying clouds get the warmth from the rising sun, they start to rise. You can feel it also by the uphill wind that starts after sunrise.
yes that's correct, but that happens after the sun rises. the fog created before the light came out :)

You can also take a very nice via ferrata (Giovanni Lipella) to go up. It's just at the other side of the mountain (compared to where you walked up).

haha, I often leave the wallet in the car and just take some cash with me, but I forgot the cash also! you have to visit dolomites!

As far as I know the Grossglockner and Großvenediger can be easily seen on the top of Tofana Di Rozes. What a shame we couldn't see them now due to the rapidly formed clouds. Maybe next time, and you should choose the same music ;-), when you reached the top, it was epic!
yeah, they are visible for sure. I've seen them from lots of other tops in the area. I will be back for sure!

Ciao Bruno, io sogno di salire su quella vetta da un annetto a questa parte. Fisicamente sto alla grande, non sono però un esperto/ molto attrezzato e soprattutto soffro un po’ di vertigini ( verso la cima del Nuvolau evito di guardare giù quando il sentiero si restringe ). Tuttavia ho fatto camminate con dislivelli importanti e si tante ore. Come posso fare? È una follia? Che equipaggiamento serve e ha tratti molto stretti su dirupi? Devi farmi forza o suggerirmi nel modo giusto 🙏🏻 Ps video stratosferico
