Shadow is the peak of the story. Even in human psychology, it's the eye of the storm. The chaos. Persona is setting the stage and introducing the conflict. Shadow is the conflict and Ego is conflict resolved.
Going through your older videos because I'm a new subscriber, and watching this reminded me once again why this is one of my favorite Namjoon solo songs on their albums.
Ok so I don’t know what’s gotten in to you this week but I love it!! This is my fav RM jam! You did Shadow the other day and now this!! Been wanting this one since the beginning too. Love love this!!
Just a thought about the fish-eye lens… his persona is what the camera shows us, so maybe that was intentional? Showing the blank corners, emphasizing that what we see of RM is not the whole picture, no matter what lens is used?
Yeah, I mentioned this in the livestream comments, but not sure if it went up ^^U Also, that shows him looking from the outside (inside?), but not WHO he is.
As shadow takes place in the deepest valley of suga Ego is taking place in his imagination I guess RM persona takes place actually in his lyrics as it is his persona that we see (the artist RM) He just questions whether his persona is him really, is it his real personality, what's the difference between namjoon and RM is what this song revolves around I might be wrong though but I like my ideas🤣🤣🤣 He faces himself (giant joonie) it's his raw personality, no glow, no makeup no expensive clothes and compares himself with it saying that he wants to befriend himself and comfort it, give the shoulder to cry I know I'm drifted away but I like my ideas🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 however the lyrics has it all but joonie's lyricism is tricky so there might be a hidden message behind his words💜🏃🏃🏃
Persona was such a strong introduction to the album for me. Not overpowering enough to make the album too intimidating or heavy so that you'd be wary of going to track two. It was such a good set up for the theories and deep diving and such while also giving us a peek into Joon's mind. I'm glad that they placed Persona, Shadow and Ego in the places they did. Shadow is such a punch in the face song that it acts as a climax. It's too strong for an intro and too full for a conclusion because it would leave you too tense as a listener. I love Ego coming at the end to bring you down from the high and put a smile on your face after all that Shadow put you through lol. Persona prepares you for intensity and sets the stage, Shadow emotionally takes you everywhere and Ego brings you back to a safe place with aftercare. As a layman, I first took the fisheye lense usage as a way to remind the audience that even as RM raps about his various personas, we are looking at him on the screen as an idol and this is also a persona as well. It doesn't let you get too comfy with the idea that we fully know him just because he's lyrically opening up. We are still just fans perceiving even his vulnerability through the lens of his in screen persona. Fans like to believe we know them because they share so much with us and it's pretty parasocial. Many forget that they are still technically strangers and we know as much as they share and nothing more. A persona.
I think if you want a song from RM that hits you like Shadow, you should check out Reflection. There isn’t an official video, but there are good lyric videos. ruclips.net/video/n24XPz7UZ7Q/видео.html I’d have you watch that first, then a live for the atmosphere of it. ruclips.net/video/8vVF6TRCTT0/видео.html I think as a vibe, Reflection fits in with Mono. There is one of those Wings shorts for Reflection. It’s cool, but it only has a snippet of the song.
RM, to me, is the least ‘visual’ of the rappers. He’s always about the lyrics and self reflection. His rap sounds awesome but the meaning behind what he says and how he strings his words together will destroy you…and by you I mean me.
They say RM raps from his brain, JHope raps from his heart and Suga raps from his soul 💜 Some truth to that I think.

Well explained!
I can't tell you how much I love this song. Pure genius 🧠😍💜

@@shiva12000 lol yep bts and Roscoe are the only notifications I have on
The more nuanced translations are very valuable in the Rapline Experience.
Some Buddy (Roscoe) says “No spoilers” BUT ask for spoilers 🤔🤪

Intro: Skool Luv Affair (rap line) how they choose that intro music theme

Add me to the destruction. Now brought to you by Coway water purifier xD
I don't know did you listen to full "RM" mixtape yet. It's masterpiece and most of the songs so underrated like "Life" for example
