I know I’m supper late lol. But what advice would you give someone that shoots the ball too late almost releasing the ball as they’re coming down from their jump. I’m really trying to get better but I hate having a hitch in my shot. I feel like I’m more of a two motion shooter because mid range is far easier for me to make out a consistent basis. But I need some drills to help release the ball as I’m jumping Not on the way down!! lol
I'm new to this world and I sensed the difference between the 2 types of shots, but I was not sure... now thanks to you its clear and I can continue to shoot my rhythmic 2 motion shots from midrange, and 1 motion shot from 3. One motion shot gives me rhythm and two motion shot gives me power for 3's. It was strange for me thinking I have to use two different types of shots, but it really makes sense. Thanks!
Thank you for your knowledge, you have helped my game improve, its incredible i give you the credibility you have really helped me become lethal and theirs still more where that came from. Ever since you been uploading from years back my desire to keep getting better an better just keep growing.
Shooters don't all shoot differently, they differ slightly, but those differences lead to less efficency -They flick their wrist -Foot position is slightly angled for smaller shooters, eg. Curry and Trey and more parallel for larger shooters like Klay and Mj -Have a set point, lower set-point for smaller shooters like Curry and Trey vs high for larger shooters like Mj or Harden -Point of release higher for smaller shooters, lower for larger shooters for most optimal arch -No thumb flick vs thumb flick (trivial, not necessary) -One motion is a more popular shot in the evolved game of basketball and more effective as it is faster and you gain more range, this isn't size dependent, as smaller shooters like Curry and large shooters like Doncic use it vs two motion, this was the old style as the old game style was mid-range, and shooting over people that are right in front of you, yes you'll have reduced range, but you can release at a higher spot
This seems a tad wrong. The 1 motion VS 2 motion distinction mostly has to do with what the arms are doing, not the legs. It is true that typically 2 motion shots will be shot at the peak of the jump and 1 motions at the start (sometimes you don't even leave the ground), but the real difference is in the arms. 1 motion shots are typically shot from in front of the head, but its obviously better to get it just above the head like Curry does (he used to shoot chucks from his chest before the NBA and still does when he feels hot and is shooting from really far). 2 motion shots have 2 motions. Meaning you lift your arms up and swing it like a catapult above and behind your head. These are much harder to block but take more time and more energy (and typically are less precise because there's 2 parts to the motion rather than 1). This is how Jokic, Bird and Kobe shoot. Kobe eventually learned to shoot 1 motion 3s later in his career.
I primarily use a one motion shot but as a shorter guard when I get in the mid range I need to jump into a two motion shot as if I don’t I will get blocked.
Another banger coach! You should make a video about how to structure your workouts. I don't know if I need to work on shooting more, finishing more, handling more and its hard to structure my workouts. Its alright if you cant do this, but thanks either way!
Thanks, Coach! Quick question: how similar should my form between my one-motion and two-motion shots be? I shoot a two-motion shot most of the time (even from 3 most of the time), but am developing a one-motion shot for long-range 3s. For my two-motion shot, my release point is pretty far back (not ideal form-wise, but it works consistently for me). For my one-motion shot, my release point is obviously much lower and out in front of me. I see that the form between your two shots is quite similar. Should I be working on trying to make the forms more similar? Any tips much appreciated!
Can you show how to get better at free Throw in basket ball for me because I’m not good at them Also it was nice finding you again I was looking for you back on Ilove basketball tv. I used to watch you when I was little nostalgia
For the most part I see myself shooting the one motion shot but I struggle to gain enough power from long range and I end up air balling a couple of feet from the three point line. Couch do you know any exercise to increase range?
I shoot from my chest I m in 8th grade I can shoot from my forehead but than shooting prct decrease so should I change or not because steph curry also changed his set point in 9th grade
You should definitely change your set point when going into high school, work on it over the summer. If you work on it over the summer enough it will get comfortable and you will be able to get to the same, or even higher, percentage on your shots
What is your opinion about Jamar Smith (played in Europe for Unics) jump shot? He averaged above 50% from 3 one season and is known to be lethal shooter. He jumps very high on his 3 point jumpers, deep ones too.
I don't like this interpretation of the differences of those two shots. It literally says it in the name. One motion is if your shot isn't comprised of two motions. Two motion is, the raising of the ball to the setpoint, and shooting the ball. If you look at it that way even steph doesn't shoot it with a perfect one motion shot since he has a setpoint at about his right eye, sometimes bit lower or higher depending on the distance, but his shot is much nearer to the one motion than let's say durants. There was a great article talking about the correlation of wrist positioning before the shot and the type of shot you have and steph does not fully bend his on the catch, moreover it is a bit to the side of the ball, but at his setpoint the wrist is locked and his hand is under the ball. Also, if you look at the path the ball takes from his hips, from which he normally starts his jumpshot, from the side, it is an inverted S like all the shooters from nba. If he had a true perfect one motion shot it would be a parabola. You can see the ball actually pauses at his setpoint, if only for a couple of frames. That makes a type of shot you have a spectrum, with guys like trae, steph and my little brother on one end and guys like kd and Westbrook on the other. You can be an amazing or a horrendous shooter on both ends of the spectrum.
Hello I am basketball youtuber from South Korea. I AM BIG FAN OF STEPH CURRY. Anyway can I use your video? Cause Some people are saying there is no One motion in NBA And Curry is also two motion shot. I wanna explain them The One motion shot with your vidoe🙏
I think you stated that you are shooting on your way up for both the one motion and two motion. Honestly I cannot understand the difference between the two shots based on your explanation
to me 1 motion, 2 motion are just marketing stuff created by god knows who. there have been plenty of players shooting the so called one motion shot some more famous ones are steve kerr, john paxson and shane battier. but people didn't pay attention because these players were stand still shooters and not scorers and yes the mid range pull up was the most important shot back then. if you watch super slow motion footage of the so called one motion shooters, you can see most of them do have a pause in their set point before the release. and if you watch a good 2 motion shooter, most of the time they do not hang unless they need to shoot over people or fading away or have too much momentum from the driving pull up. if you watch carmelo anthony shoots a three, he doesn't hang. if you watch ray allen in his game winners against the bulls in game 2, he doesn't hang. if you watch ray allen's THE SHOT against the spurs, he doesnt hang. whether you shoot on the way up or shoot as you reach the apex or shoot after hanging a little bit depends on the transfer of power of that particular shot. and every player is built differently and given different skills and practice, result in the difference in release timing. 1/2 motion is just like the sweep and sway, they always exist in basketball but some people one day when they get out of bed decided to give them a name so they can market and profit off it, its that simple.
One motion shots are the way to go nowadays. As long as you have a high enough release point it is way harder to block then two motion as you bring the ball back more.

I use 1 motion on 3 pointers and open 2s but I use 2 motion on fades and midrange contested shots
Do you cut off your 1 motion shot even if it's like 3 feet inside the three point line?
same, I feel like i use 2 motion when im closer to the hoop.
@@RealisticSunsFan well it depends on if I am open or not if I get a pass and I am open I use 1 motion if I am contested though I use a 2 motion
NIce!
@@RealisticSunsFan depends on the type of shot, if it’s a contested step back from that area than probably two motion but otherwise i don’t think so

Yeah, check the "shorts" on my youtube channel and there's a range video too!
Why the hell are you practicing logo shots? You need to be benched

Try to not hit it... shoot closer with the correct form and then go back.
