'Death to America': Iran clarifies meaning

- Iranians will chant "Death to America" as long as Washington continues its hostile policies, but the slogan is directed at President Donald Trump and U.S. leaders, not the American nation, Iran's supreme leader said on Feb. 8.
"As long as America continues its wickedness, the Iranian nation will not abandon 'Death to America'," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told a gathering of Iranian Air Force officers marking the 40th anniversary of Iran's Islamic Revolution, according to his official website.
Trump pulled out of Iran's 2015 nuclear deal with world powers last year and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran, dealing a blow to the country's economy. European signatories of the nuclear deal have been trying to save the accord, but Khamenei said they could not be trusted.
The European Union has stepped up criticism of Iran's ballistic missiles programme while remaining committed to the 2015 nuclear deal.

Can you explain why Iranians hate the American civillians? Because Americans don't hate the Iranian people, they hate their government. While the Iranians are chanting those words, which I find to be offensive for innocent Americans, the sanctions are making life really difficult for many Iranians and to some extent it contributes to their early demise. So in reality, the chants may hurt feelings but sanctions are causing death to Iranians….just to put things in perspective .

My boss is Persian, he defected from Iran in 1969 to America, joined the Navy for six years, and has had this business for over thirty years. He has given me so much insight into the culture and history of Persia. I know most of the conflict between the US and Iran is from our governments, but if for one second anyone thinks there is a problem with the beautiful people of Iran and their culture you are flat ignorant.
