No, Kevin is not JUST a beatboxer. This group is a Family, filled with a God given talent. They're ALL great. Glad you found them, Jasamin.
Kevin also sings tenor on occasion (his voice is up to the standards of this group), and there are at least three videos where he plays cello. "Shallow" is my favorite; the man is a world-class cellist.

Ten year’s together 3 Grammys, sold out world tours, they are the best a Capella group in the world. They have 20 million subscribers, millions upon millions of listens. Their catalog is wide and deep. Not a bad song in the bunch. Fans will rush to your channel if you listen to them. Fans are called

They have been together as a group since 2011 when they won their season of the singing contest "the Sing Off". Kevin the beatboxer does mostly beatboxing, but when the song calls for it, he slips in with the other 4 on 5-part harmony. Your comment "Why wasn't he singing the whole time" made me almost cough to death. How in the heck do you think he could sing and beatbox at the same exact time? Kevin is talented, but to that extent. One video that shows his amazing beatboxing, cello and singing all within one song is his Marian Hill cover solo of the song "Down".
Love to see someone's first "Mitchslap"! Mitch is the dark haired guy on top left who hits all those ridiculous high notes, his voice soars to the angels and back...what you got in this was just a small taste. Pentatonix have been a group since 2011, they're an Acapella group, with an occasional Cello thrown in and they've won 3 Grammy's, which is a first for an Acapella group. They are world-know, have many albums, done many Tours stateside and International and are famous for what we Pentaholics like to call "upgrades" of other artists music. They also do their own original music. Members are Mitch, Scott (top row middle), Kirsten (only girl), Kevin is the Beatboxer and also plays the Cello, and Avi was the Bass singer you saw in this video, but he left the group in 2017 and now the Bass singer is Matt. Their are 285 music video's from Pentatonix to date, some just music, most full music video's, so there is a ton of content. They have millions of subs and it's not unusual for their video's to get millions of views. Whatever music you like you'll probably find it covered in their catalogue, you kind of just have to pick a point and dive in.

@@toddfranklin3700 no. Kirstie had been dating Jeremy Michael Lewis from 2013. Avi left in September 2017 so that hardly seems like a reason for his leaving. I think you will have to take him at his word. They are all there with him.

Kevin Olusola (beatboxer) can't sing most of the time because they need the beats! If you want to hear Kevin sing, try Amazing Grace, which will also introduce you to the new bass, Matt Sallee. You might also want to hit the 90 Dance Medley (released in April of this year), for a great time and to see where they are today. Other great covers include Daft Punk medley (first Grammy), Hallelujah, Say Something, Imagine, Sounds of Silence, and Can You Feel the Love Tonight (from the Lion King). They won The Sing-Off the season before Home Free (season 3 in 2011). The trio in back had known each other since they were kids, but they picked up the two in front for the competition and only all met in person the day before auditions. The trio were 19 at the time (Mitch "you better sing!" skipped his highschool graduation for the show), Avi was 21 and Kevin was 22 and had just graduated pre-med. The current bass, Matt, is a few years younger... I want to say 26ish but I could be wrong. Mitch just turned 29 in July and the group had its 10 year anniversary in June.
Kevin, the beatboxer, actually didn't sing when they first formed. He took lessons and has really come into his own... but of course, he doesn't sing often because they still need percussion! They do occasionally sing in 5 part harmony rather than with a beat... some examples are their original song Run To You and their covers of The Cranberries' Dreams and Elvis' Can't Help Falling In Love.
Kevin and Avi shared an apartment after the group met.
Avi was a trained classical/opera singer and had just been offered his first opera position in the L.A. Opera House.
Kevin was already musically talented but had never worked on his voice, so Avi gave him
singing lessons. Kevin found his sound. You will find video of Kevin and Avi cutting up and teasing each other a lot. They became good friends. Kevin married not long after Avi left the group.
Avi is a highly sensitive person and left the group broken and unable to continue at their pace.
He now has a solo career. He is more folk to nature in his writing and singing and is a prolific writer.
The three singers in the back are Mitch (counter tenor), Scott (baritone), and Kirstin (alto/soprano). They sang together as The Trio in high school. Later, they picked up Avi (bass from 2011 to 2017) and Kevin (beatboxer/tenor/cello player) to form Pentatonix (PTX).
Matt (2017 to present) took over bass from Avi. This is the only member change in ten years. Mitch and Kirstin change their looks often which confuses people.
They won Grammys for Daft Punk (a medley), Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene (with Dolly Parton).

There is no "just" about Kevin, "the beatboxer". He sings tenor sometimes, mostly does rhythm, plays keys and cello occasionally in various pieces.

I would suggest that when you choose which reactions to do, that you look at a couple of their most viewed and loved first to gain a better idea of who they are. Glad you finally found Pentatonix. If you react to more their fans will follow. Like others have said they have been together for 10 years. They have only had one member change ( their bass Avi). Mitch and Kirstie change their looks often. They have won 3 Grammys one for their Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (has no vocals), and a collaboration with Dolly Parton for Jolene. I have not heard anything from them I haven't liked. They do covers (upgrades) and originals.
Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is ALL vocals, I think you meant to say it has no LYRICS.
Some of their covers are so.much better you would swear they are originals.

Pentatonix is the best Acapella group to exist. The have won multiple Grammy's.
Mitch is the one you really like. Scott is the blonde guy, Kirsten is the only female. Kevin is the best boxer. Avi is the Bass singer with the beard. He left the group a few years ago and replaced by another amazing Bass singer named Matt.

While the whole group has been together since 2011, 'The Trio' (the three on the upper level, Mitch, Scott, and Kirsten) have been together many more years. Scott and Kristen went to school together, and Mitch is, I believe, one year younger. They were all in the same high school choir in Arlington, Texas.
They broke up after high school, with Scott go to a university in California. While there, he heard of a TV Singing Show competition, kinda of like The Voice, but for groups. A friend of a friend recommended Avi as the bass, and Scott found Kevin via a RUclips video (Kevin is a little older than the others, he graduated from Yale with a degree in Music, playing both the Cello and the Saxophone, He speaks three languages fluently, including Mandarin. He was actually headed to Medical School, but when invited to the group, decided that if the group did not win, he would go to med school the next year.) Kevin also invented cello boxing, where he somehow manages to play hte cello while beat boxing at the same time.
Needless to say, they won the singing competition, got a recording contract, and $200,000. The recording company dropped them, and they decided to make money doing RUclips videos. The rest is history.
Their styles are so different from each other (fashion) but their chemistry is amazing.
Kevin can beat box and play the cello at the same time. He is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese and is a Yale graduate who was planning to go to med school. Instead he joined Pentatonix. They have won 3 Grammys and performed in about 2 dozen countries.

The three in the back "the trio" consists of (left to right) Mitch - a counter tenor...yep....a very high range, Scott, a baritone, but a crazy range, and Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty) who is a contralto, who also has an amazing range. These three have known each other since they were in high school. They wanted to compete in a show for a cappella groups called "The Sing Off", but they needed a bass - that is Avi (Ah - vee) on the lower left, and a beatboxer, Kevin, on the lower right, who is also a tenor, but prefers to beatbox. So the five competed and one season 3's competition in 2011. They have been at it since then. The have a VERY DEEP catalog with mostly covers, but also many originals. Check out their channel. I liked your reaction and look forward to any other Pentatonix (PTX) videos you react to. Avi, the bass, left the group in 2017 to pursue other interests and Matt replaced him, but all the others are originals. As you watch their videos from 2017 you will see Matt instead of Avi. Also, Mitch and Kirstie change their looks a lot in each video, but their voices are the same. I just subbed.

This is the original group. There has only been one person leave the group, although when you get deeper into them you may think Mitch (back left) and Kirsten (back right) are different people because those two change their looks quite often! Others will give the details on them. Deep catalogue of songs and performances!

I'm thrilled to watch your reaction! These folks ARE awesome. Kevin (the amazing beatboxer), Mitch (tenor), Scott (blond baritone), and Kirstie are all still together. Avi (the amazing bass has left the group, replaced by Matt (another amazing bass). Please, please, please watch more PTX. We'll follow you on your journey! This is my first time watching you. I see honesty in you so I will subscribe now. I do need to add that Pentatonix....has such a wide range of songs that they sing. Many songs they make their own and in some ways improve on them. This acapella group also has some original songs. They've won Grammy awards and they did change only one person...the bass...Avi. He left for personal reasons and his replacement, Matt, is also excellent. I don't know what you like but I can imagine that you will be happy to dive into what they do.
A "short" summary:
Scott Hoying: the tall blonde dude. He is a baritone.
Mitch: Grassi: the brunette dude with the high voice. He is a countertenor. If you check them out more, beware, he changes hair a LOT!
Kirstin Maldonado: the girl, she is a mezzo soprano. She also changes her hair a lot.
Kevin Olusola: the beatboxer. Okay, he is not just the beatboxer. He can SING! He is also a tenor/countertenor. He beatboxes, sings, plays the cello, piano, and saxophone, and also, an interesting fact, speaks Mandarin.
Avi Kaplan: the bass singer, who kinda looks like Jesus. He was in the group until 2017 when he left. Now he is doing music on his own.
Matt Sallee: a bass singer, who joined them after Avi left. You'll see him in all the newer videos.
Now, for the group itself. Pentatonix was originally a three-member group, consisting of Scott, Mitch, and Kirstie. They are from Arlington, Texas. In 2011 they had the idea to go on a show called Sing-Off. They won the whole season. The band found Avi through a mutual friend. Kevin was found using RUclips, where he had a very viral cello-boxing (beatboxing+playing the cello) video up (94 000 views at the time I think). The group contacted both of them and they sang together the first time only a day before the start of the show.
Anyways, after they won the 3rd season, they were dropped from their record deal. They decided to say "screw it" and started uploading stuff to RUclips (with now achieving over 19 mln subs). They have won three Grammys (a Daft Punk medley, their cover of Dance Of The Sugarplum Fairy, and their collab with Dolly Parton which was called "Jolene"), have done collabs with many world-famous musicians, including Whitney Houston (Do You Hear What I Hear) and a live performance with Stevie Wonder.

They are amazing, there is a new base - Matt - who is fabulous! For more of Kevin - he has some solo stuff "Down" - especially. He holds the rhythm section most of the time, but he has a beautiful voice when we get to hear him. "Mary did you know" and "Amazing Grace" he has a chance to stand out. I'm sure there are more.
The three in the back have been together since either Jr. High or High School.. The other two, Avi on Base, and Kevin on Beatbox....were added the year after HS to enter the national competition, Sing Off....an a'capella competition, which they won. Now give them a listen on Hallelujah, over 600 Million views.

Fair warning, their record label is brutal about copywrite blocks. You need either filters, very frequent pauses plus back it up about 10 or 15 sec after every pause or search for some other way to get past the blocking issue.

So many ask why he doesn't sing, totally forgetting how this would all sound without the beatbox percussions, and how hard he's working

Kevin is usually the beatboxer but they all can blow he sings on a couple of songs they came from a acapella competition show like X Factor and now they sing covers look them up they are the truth

The Bass Avi is no longer with the group. He has been replaced by Matt who is also amazing. Check out the new video that dropped Over the River. Kevin is a graduate of Yale University where he was first chair cello. He is the most incredibly talented person I have ever seen. This group can sing anything.
