The 3” screw worked great for me, thank you for that tip! I’m amazed at the difference it made. I went from needing two hands to close a door to just one finger. My door was the same brand as the first one in your video, it looked identical. Not sure if I was supposed to do all 3 screws in one hinge, or just the middle one as you showed. Doing the other 2 screws in that same hinge did not help at all, I think because they are offset just enough from the center that they don’t hit the studs that surround the door frame. They did not get tight at all like the middle one did. So just one screw did the trick. What a difference, like night and day. I first tried sanding the edge of the door and frame, but that didn’t help. I even traded doors with another in the house, that did not help either. I know now the problem was the frame, not the door.
It worked on my big front door!! Brass hinges and door seal that encased the door as it is closed. The upper hinge was loose, the bottom pin was too worn. I changed it out with another door ( the brass pin ) and tightened that hinge down. It works perfectly! Thank you for this video that has saved me lots of money from calling someone.
That is amazing to hear, Christine! Comments like this give me a reason to keep making videos! I really appreciate the feedback and so happy knowing the video helped you out! Thanks for watching!
In Germany we have other types of stuff, but I like to watch, how you are working and repairing. It is so interesting, and I am a woman. 😊😊😊 Because I am never too old to learn something new.
Dear Mister Fixer. I have several sticking doors :( . Haven't viewed your video just yet but I just KNOW you will come up with the solution to my problem .
@@TheFixerHomeRepair Yes, thank you very much ! It wasn't a case of any hinge issue nor of the door dropping down on one side. I noticed on the hinge-side some evidence that the paint had been apparently removed but it had in fact got stuck to the adjoining surface. So, I simply sanded both surfaces by hand and re-painted them with a thinner layer of paint and now it is opening and closing perfectly. No more sticking. Thank you again for your help .
In my house I have two doors that are hitting on the top pretty badly. In addition there are cracks in the drywall above the door. The drywall appears to have been pulled apart on one and the other it is buckling slightly outward and forming a crack that way. They are both in the same area of the house. I think it's more than the frame or the hinges. A bit worrying really.
Is it code to have 3 inches on a door? In addition to the reasons you highlighted Here in Jamaica 🇯🇲 a door will stick because some door jams tends to #expand after a few days of rainfall
Could you help me out? My family moved into a new house over a year or 2 ago and the door to my room worked fine but after we took the door off and paint it and when we put it back on, my door wouldn’t close and would get stuck so if you can help me out with any tips or stuff like that, that would be awesome!
I’ll try the center screw. My guest room door sticks. One night I couldn’t stand that sound anymore. I was trying to get to sleep. Every time someone had to go out of the room I heard that loud door rubbing sound. It’s midnight and I’m not about to get out my tools so I got WD40 and sprayed the door frame and went back to bed. 😂that was about 9 months ago and it only started sticking again yesterday. I HATE that sound. Lol😂
Hey I’m in an old house and the henges to my back door isn’t loose but the door is sticking so bad I can’t even close it. It’s due to settlement I believe. Would you suggest just sanding that down?
Sanding your door is ridiculous. You take out the pins, wedge your door where you want it (the hinges will no longer align) and you bend the hinges to realign and put the pins back. That easy
greetings from Croatia, I need advice .. I inherited an 80-year-old house that is falling into disrepair, the roof is not a problem for me but a poorly made concrete foundation through which moisture comes out on all the walls. we don't have a basement under the house like you in the USA so it's hard for me to find a solution and I don't want to demolish it...
Hi Kristina! Maybe you could skim coat the concrete with some type of sealing concrete mix and then paint it? Google concrete sealer and see what you can find. Then you can use some Drylok paint? Good luck. Let me know if you find something. Thanks for checking out the video!
Thanks i've been stuck on the bathroom for 8 days now, this realy helps alot
Could be worse, you could be stuck outside the bathroom

Could it be the friction of the door when opened creating the crack? 🤔
I've been waiting to see an easy fix for sticking doors, esp. at the top and topside. We are going to try this. I appreciate you.
That was THE funniest intro I’ve ever seen on any video on RUclips 😂

Yeah here in Canada that happens as well......... too much humidity causing doors to swell.........👀😎👍✌️
I am not sure about the code but yes, like I said in the video, humidity can for sure cause it to stick. Thanks so much for checking out the video!

Hey! If it is from settlement and you don’t want to/can’t correct the settlement then sanding will work, if it continues to settle it may stick again.
I will have to try this. I am looking forward to the next video about sagging on the top opposite the hinge
Thanks for checking it out!
I learned so much.. thanks!
The screws on the hinges of my door are stripped and I can't tighten the hinge. What could I do?
Sanding your door is ridiculous. You take out the pins, wedge your door where you want it (the hinges will no longer align) and you bend the hinges to realign and put the pins back. That easy
