I have loved this lady all my life. I learn and love some thing new about her every video I watch. She is like no other artist. She sang like no other at her reign her prime and in her latter years. I was and still am amazed ay how the crowd tries to run on stage to just touch her in this concet. I know she is loved but to see people go to that extreme and for us who have never seen that type of admiration for her is wonderful. Miss you like crazy Ms. Ree.

I had the privilege to take my mother to see her in concert here in Houston. Front row seats! She was amazing! Voice perfect! Room was hot, it’s true that she required room to be warm for her voice. We didn’t care, it was Aretha. All hail The Queen!

Lovely. Enchanting. Legendary. Smoking like a Chimney and Still Singing like The Angel of Angels. Only Aretha and Aretha Only. :-) You would have wanted to be there (in that elevating atmosphere). Thank you for the post & the playlist.

I think Aretha felt like she needed Ted White to protect her. Her father had protected her and she married Ted who was older than her for protection. When she got tired of his abusive ways, she called it quits. I think at that time she realized that she was strong enough to protect herself.

In 1968 I think the demand for Aretha was beyond overwhelming. She just generally always looked exhausted in 1968. Her voice was amazing, but it always sounded tired to me. More than likely it is due to marriage issues, drinking, smoking, and constant performing and traveling.

Two whole cigarettes before she went on stage (and that's all they SHOWED she probably smoked more than that.) And she STILL KILLED IT! NEVER will there be another Aretha!
