This is the best technique I have seen for tile coasters. They are beautiful. I just purchased 4 glazed tiles from Lowe's yesterday. I will definitely try this technique. Thank you.
so you are covering the tile first by putting down white acrylic paint by folk art then adding drops of blue alcohol ink followed by the alcohol? your description shows 2 kinds of white what is the second white used for?
If you buy table top resin then you can put hot cups not problem. The art resin will withhold hot cups, but not right away from microwave. This might leave a tiny print.
If you are using tabletop resin than it's ok. I believe for art resin products it is not advised to place the out-of-microwave-hot item directly on coasters as it might leave marks.
I’ve tried sprays, even high-heat car engine enamel spray but the paint chipped pretty easily. I stick with countertop epoxy and it works beautifully. You can see a short vid of my end products here if interested: instagram.com/moonflower_art_studio/
Hello there! I get little dips when I use lubricant oil to get cells with acrylic paints. To remove the oily coat, you need to spread starch on top of your dried paint, rub it and then brush it off. Starch will remove the oily left overs that create dips and pulling aways. Hope this helps :)
I was also wondering, was the Folkart paint used? The link was for chalk paint. I was going to just mix titanium white acrylic paint with the floetrol and water, cover the tile, then drop the ink, alcohol and dry. I didn't see the use of the folkart because the white you used in the beginning looked like a bottle of a different white. Also, how long did you wait before doing the resin? Do you NEED to use a torch or can you allow them to just air dry? Thank you so much for your feedback! These are great!
@@ShaeElyse37 Hello again :) the link to the folk art is incorrect one. I will update it. Thanks for letting me know. The Folkart acrylic paint i used is a.co/d/90nSMIa . you can use any acrylic paint to do this. I waited 24 hours for the paint to dry completely and then i applied resin. The Torch will make sure that you are getting rid off all the bubbles in the resin and it will create the smooth glassy coat. Good luck!
one last question please. what do you use to make it stay? super glue? what kind, gel? thank you. I love what you do and I am going to try it out when I get paid next month. this stuff costs a lot.
Volha S what was the 50/50 measured as? Did you add 1 teaspoon of water to 1 gallon of paint? 1 ounce of paint? Without a starting point for the 50/50 part it is hard to make this paint correctly

Beautiful!!

Yes, I was using the self levelling resin. :)
I absolutely adore these!
Very pretty, but I cannot figure out where you added the Titanium White Ink.
Actually you are right, I did not use the item anywhere. I will remove it from description, thank you for letting me know!
What is the white paint you are using? Please let me know. The coasters look fantastic. Thank you.
Thank you so much! The white mix is the 50/50 ratio white paint and floetrol + teaspoon of water. Floetrol is paint medium. Good luck !
Loved them! Can these be used on bathroom walls since they are waterproof after using resin?
Of course! Why not :)
Thank you for your prompt response 😊
Very nice!
so that was alcohol inks with white acrylic top coat??? very well done
Yes, you got it! ink on top of white acrylic paint. Thank you!
Have you tried a cheaper resin? Your tiles are beautiful. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Brenda! I did not tried a cheaper resin.
Very nice !!!! Have you tried two or more colors at one time on the same tile?
Thanks, I did not try multiple colours, bit it's a good suggestion! Need to try :)
Did you prepare the tile in anyway? Or can you paint on top of the gloss ceramic?
@@shannonedrie8193 I just cleaned it with running alcohol. That's all. Happy crafting!
Thank you ❤️
Beautiful! In the beginning, what do you mix with the white paint?
Thanks! the mix is: 50% white Paint, 50% floetrol and a bit of water ( I used 1 teaspoon)
@@VolhaS thank you!!!!
Hi! Can these tiles then be use as feature tiles on a kitchen counter, like on a back splash?
Absolutely yes!
Beautiful! What rubbing alcohol did you use?
I grabbed mine at drug store, Just the regular one 99% isopropyl alcohol.

Oh sorry, it should be just 1 white colour 🤍
Can you put wet glasses or hot cups of coffee on these with damaging the resin?

Volha S Thank you!!!! I appreciate the info

Thank you... I wasn't sure about that either...
Do you know a good BRAND for "Table Top" resin?
Is there a Spray Can that can do the trick?

What was the name of the white paint you used first
When I resin my tiles I always get little dips and pulling away from the edges and end up having to resin twice. What am I doing wrong?

How long did you let your coasters cure before resin
Usually I take 24 hours before resin :)
Did you use already glossy finish tiles or the unglossed/porous ones?
Hi! I used the ones with Glossy finish

What is the gold exactly
It is copper gleam mica powder
What is the copper powder please???
Hello, this is mica powder, the colour copper. You can buy it online.
you didn't show what you did with the bottom. what did you put? cork?
Yes, I put the cork at the bottom.
@@VolhaS thank you for answering. from michaels or joanns?

I could't understand with your accent...what did you mix 50/50 + 1 tbl water What was the acrylic mixed with???
Hello there. The mix is paint and floetrol with 50/50 ratio plus teasepoon of water. Floetrol is a medium.
Volha S what was the 50/50 measured as? Did you add 1 teaspoon of water to 1 gallon of paint? 1 ounce of paint? Without a starting point for the 50/50 part it is hard to make this paint correctly
hard to hear! Is it water proof?
Sorry about the sound quality. Yes, it is water proof once it is covered in resin.
You should be wearing gloves the whole time you are handling resin. Shame.
