    This was the MOST helpful and straightforward of all the math reviews I've seen. THANK YOU.

    Great reviews! We switched to Math Mammoth and it has been a game changer for us! Truly an underrated program. It's simple to use, open and go, but the math itself is extensive and very thorough!
    Their video lessons are very helpful too if I ever need them

    As a middle school math coach and mentor, I emphasize mental math and daily mental math practice routines with my students, whom I teach individually through zoom sessions.
    I believe that there are ways to progressively strengthen the mental visualization of numbers and their basic mathematical operations, using progressive daily practice. US schools are fighting a culture of distraction and frivolity, and also many methods used in the U.S. have too many topics covered without any skill building or depth. Engagement is crucial, as there is no actual learning without it.

      I feel Math Mammoth would be best for developing mental math along with mastering concepts using visuals. I absolutely appreciate and love ❤️ this book.

    Saxon does have a lot of problems, but as you mentioned later with Horizons, the students need the repetition. I think this is true with everything we tackle to learn. I like both Singapore and Saxon(spiral method is great because the kids don't forget previous information), they are challenging.

    Every review I see about Singapore math nobody uses the teacher's manual which goes deeper with real lessons. It is very thorough.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to review all of these math programs!! Was considering leaving Math U See and switching to Teaching Textbooks though my kids are excelling at MUS, only because I'm afraid to tackle Algebra for my oldest this year and possibly not be able to help her if she needs help. She's on a engineering track right now though so I don't want to put her in a math that is behind as you said TT is so that was very helpful. Thanks again!

    I wouldn’t say Teaching Textbooks is “behind” it definitely goes at a slower pace but that develops confidence in my learner and it builds on that.
    Other homeschool curriculums can jump in too fast to a concept especially after summer break. BJU math 3 almost killed us. I feel like TT gets a bad rep for being too easy. I would rather my kid understand the concept using a simple equation then give up because it was too hard.

      Thank you! No, I don't have a blog, but I've finally just made a couple more videos. Pregnancy at age 44 has seriously slowed me down lately. I've got a lot of ideas for videos, so hopefully a few months after having the baby I will start making more.

    Would you say it would be a good idea to start with Singapore or Math in Focus in the early years, and then switch to Math Mammoth? Or Could I use Math Mammoth from grade 1-7?

    I guess Teaching Textbooks has changed everything and maybe relying on other ways to get funds. I emailed them to ask the difference in the free version and paid. They said there’s no difference. So no point in paying now I guess.

    • @Clint490
      @Clint490  5 лет назад +3

      Teaching Textbooks is definitely not free. There is a free trial for the first 15 lessons to see if you like the curriculum.

      I've heard that it moves along very slow and kids can get really bored with it. This is because so much time is spent learning one thing. I also heard that it's very comprehensive but the slow pace can actually cause your kids to get behind. I was looking into it myself. But decided to go with Singapore Math because it's also comprehensive yet keeps a good pace and it's ahead of U.S standards. So many options! 😃
