  • The mid 90's, high school, east county San Diego, and a band called the Naked Jumpies all collided at the same time.
    I don't know how I would have gotten through high school without them. And even though the girl at the intro of this clip sounds more like Claire Danes on "My So Called Life" than some one in the midst of real danger, the sentiments were echoed by everybody who sought the Jumpie's music with passion and vigor.
    You want to know how to stop school violence? You bring the Naked Jumpies to high school. That's how. We were desperate kids, and the thought that we would have let our desperation spiral out of control to ultimate self-distructive tendencies was probably number 2 on most of our lists. Number 1 was the Naked Jumpies.
    This is their song Godzooky (off their self-released demo tape JAMBOREE) with clips from the documentary Boys on Film, by RD Mauzy, 1995.

    Ha. I just found a cassette tape of theirs in my garage and had to RUclips them because it’s easier than finding my cassette player. Rad. Yup.
